Axl is on quite the roll lately.

The rumors have been confirmed: Just hours before Guns N' Roses are scheduled to take the stage for their triumphant reunion gig at Coachella, AC/DC formally announced that – before GN'R's Not in This Lifetime Tour kicks off – Axl Rose will first join them as vocalist for the remaining dates of their Rock or Bust trek.

"AC/DC will resume their Rock Or Bust World Tour with Axl Rose joining on vocals," the band announced in a statement Saturday. Rose will take the place of longtime AC/DC vocalist Brian Johnson, who was forced to abruptly quit touring with the group or risk "total hearing loss."

"AC/DC band members would like to thank Brian Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band throughout the years. We wish him all the best with his hearing issues and future ventures," the band said. "As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we understand, respect and support Brian's decision to stop touring and save his hearing. We are dedicated to fulfilling the remainder of our touring commitments to everyone that has supported us over the years, and are fortunate that Axl Rose has kindly offered his support to help us fulfill this commitment."

The bolded part in that statement makes me feel like they are essentially calling it a day with Brian Johnson, which is absolutely insane if true. Obviously the guy can't keep touring right now because of the risk of total hearing loss, but I always figured it would be a temporary thing. That statement tells us otherwise...

Obviously the dudes are super old and are in the twilight of their career, but it's pretty wild to think of AC/DC without Brian Johnson at the front. I saw them this past February, which may have truly been the end of an era...

The fuck? The bolded part is fucking ICE COLD to the guy who helped make your band what it was.

Thats so impersonal it's insulting.

Yeah I'd say they are done with him unless it makes sense financially to bring him back. Little more of a report here.

Johnson, however, has been quiet in public and has reportedly voiced dismay at his swift exit.

US comedian and radio host Jim Breuer said he spoke to Johnson, who felt "kicked to the curb" by his bandmates and did not believe his hearing problems were as serious as announced by the group.

I keep reading it but my brain refuses to process it. Wow at the reason though, scummy as fuck.

I know right? I had to re-read it a bunch of times to make sure I wasn't missing something. I know AC/DC is a corporation and a "brand" nowadays more than a band, but damn... Brian is obviously one of the most critical parts of that brand. Pretty nuts to think this is how it ends for him.

I understand they want to finish out the tour dates, but if Brian really is done I'd say don't bother coming back... call it a day.

Wow, hadn't seen this one. Pretty disappointing.

What the Fuck! Didn't Brian Johnson, come out and say recently that its not as bad as it sounds and that there was a work around it, so he could keep performing? There was also that rumor that Angus thinks the singer position doesn't matter and he could continue on with someone younger for another 10 years. Sounds scumy.

'We need to get someone young in here to reenergize the band..'

This is actually kind of funny. What a bunch of dicks.
It's sad when a band becomes a product with replaceable parts like this but I guess it's inevitable when you're old, massive and predictable like AC/DC.

I really like AC DC but man, Angus Young is a huge dick. Let's see what happens when two of the most egocentrical rockstars in history share the same stage. They sould also bring Lars Ulrich at drums while they're at it

Shameful, if what I've read is true. One can argue which AC/DC era was best (I think of them as two different bands), but it was certainly a lifetime gig. Brian Johnson rates a little more respect. It sounds like they were happy for the excuse to fire him outright. Why not say there would be a replacement singer for the tour, but Brian would join them in the studio at some point (I've seen interviews where Angus and Brian talked about working on old, incomplete songs Malcolm had written)? Why not get a rotation of celebrity singers? I can't imagine Axl's voice, which hasn't been rock-solid for a while, is going to hold up well singing in two different bands.

1. Brian was once "that guy" replacing the band's established singer. They were a well established and respected band before Brian joined them

2. It was Brian's decision to stop performing

3. The show must go on, the band is not going to cancel their tour, and we really don't know what will happen when this tour finishes

I don't see how this will work. ACDC seem very blue collar, workman, show up on time kind of band. I don't see Rose as a match, like at all.

As for BJ? He choose to call it quits and the rest of the band wants to keep touring. I don't see anything wrong with it.

Bon died, he didn't get kicked for having health issues he fucking died. And Brian got his mother and brothers blessing to replace him.

Yeah, after Bon they couldn't find a more perfect voice then Johnson. Now this is a gimmick. Hope they call it quits after this tour.

I honestly don't know how the Stones or older acts still tour. They have money and it has to be a fucking chore singing and playing the same damn songs over and over.

They don't know how to live any other way, these guys have been touring for 5 generations now, there is nothing else they have.

I guess, but touring in your 60's has got to suck. At one point do you just want to chill at home and call it a career? Perhaps it's the thrill of the crowds and energy. Dunno.

Earning a few million bucks for a nights work probably has a little to do with it too.

"lifestyle maintenance"

I don't really know Axl's voice could hold up to belting AC/DC songs night after night. It's better than it has been, but it's still trashed.

My uncle worked for the young brothers in the 90s and says they were both cunts but also very smart business wise so i was not suprised at bj getting replaced so quick.

They are also massive tight asses in his exact words and tells me a story of how the youngs used to micro manage every single detail of a performance right down to the nails used to construct a fake set of amps behind the band......apparently angus and malcom fired a chippie (carpenter) because he charged more because the nails used were more expensive then what the brothers thought it cost...it was a 70cent difference but it blew up like hed ran over his cat and pissed on its corpse.

AC/DC was already successful before Brian Johnson with Bon Scott at the lead.

Personally I don't think the bolded was offensive. Seems professional. What more can they really say in a press statement?

The bands you should feel sorry for are the ones that do places like state fairs and casinos and high school/college gyms.

I remember back in college in the 90s, I had a friend that was in charge of getting all the entertainment for the school. He had like a book with all the prices it cost to get a band or comic.

I was heartbroken to find the Kinks in there for like $5,000. They were one of my favorite bands, and while overshadowed by the Stones and the Who, were influential in their day and still had hits as late as the early '80s

Axel Rose joins AC/DC. Oh how much money could I have made if I ever made a bet on that, in the early 90ies, that is.

Curious how AC/DCs 2nd generation songs will sound now. But no one will ever top Bon Scott. #teamrideon

That's fucked up, his unique voice was what made their stuff memorable, I'd be pissed if I paid to see AC/DC and got Axl Rose.

Brutal how they just brushed Brian Johnson aside and kept going, they are old, friggen retire and enjjoy your money and what's left of your life ffs guys!?
