Yup, and the dlc. I was waiting for the epiphany that everyone says is there, never came. My overall feeling "that's it?". I expected more I supposesDid you finish it? I dropped it twice over the years because it didn't click, when it finally did, it became my GOAT game.
Honestly my favourite weapon in Bloodborne is Beasthunter Saif, when its folded it has nice dash towards enemy and fast strikes.Ludwig holy blade and Moonlight greatsword are hands down the best greatsword gameplay feeling in any games.
Yeah this weapon feels really good. I think I finished one playthrough with it.Honestly my favourite weapon in Bloodborne is Beasthunter Saif, when its folded it has nice dash towards enemy and fast strikes.

Dont agree at all, Eternal Darkness just doesn’t do anything original with the Lovecraftian themes. It is good dont get me wrong, but Bloodborne is extremely unique to the point where its main theme is still to this day theorised heavily. Beyond that even the revelation that the whole game is the cursed dream of a vengeful Old One is pure Lovecraft.mh, not sure.
I think Eternal Darkness does the concept ofbetter than BB (for gameplay reasons maybe, but still)"you are nothing compared to the old cosmic beings"
Eh? You literally get that exact Moonlight Sword, just not THAT big lol
Shame we can't get Ludwig holy blade. Probably the most beautiful sword of the entire game.

Really? I never played the DLC to know, but was people mistaking with the moon sword from Elden Ring lunar princess Rena?

Has nothing to do with 1080p. The game has always looked rough, like a PS3 game.Fair enough. It is a fantastic game. Can't argue with that.
Looks amazing too but its 1080p is very jaggy nowadays. The 30fps is surprisingly snappy and responsive compared to other 30fps games this gen though
Bloodborne was cool, but would need more
For it to be my favorite game of all time.
Favorite game of all time to me should have an amazing story, be groundbreaking technologically and ambition in some sense. Have characters I adore. Unique.
Bloodborne, doesnt really have characters you adore in the same sense as say...a metal gear or final fantasy, ocarina, witcher 3. It doesnt have groundbreaking tech/visuals/ambition like a half life 2 or shenmue, witcher 3, Ocarina. Its unique in artstyle, but not in design. And its not all that ambitious.
To me if its your favorite game of all time, then you dont care about...alot lol you care about that fight fight fight and nothing else really. Kind if an insult to all those other games listed, but that just my opinion. I just feel like gaming can be and is so much more than...a souls game.
Llike if you wanted to show an alien the pinnacle of everything gaming could be...would you show it a souls game? No.
I mean, I definitely adore Lady Maria but probably not in the way you‘re meaning.
Having said that, I think you’re not giving credit to Souls’ great world building and ambience. These definitely matter.
And come on, when we’re talking characters, I’ll give you some FFs and MGSs, but Ocarina was your go to for Zelda? Nah, I remember quite a few Soulsborne characters over any of the characters in OoT.
And graphical innovation and gameplay innovation is nice and all, but irrelevant unless your “greatest of all time” list relies heavily on how a game impacted the industry as opposed to how good you actually think it is. Which I just do not fuck with, anyone who makes a list based on that makes it seem like they felt pressured to include games regardless if they’re actually the games they enjoyed the most or not.
At the end of the day, coming up with an idea first is nice and all, but it’s foolish to believe that idea will be its strongest upon first attempt always. Execution > originality.
And regardless, how a game grips people will always be subjective. Final Fantasy IX is my favorite game of all time because it immersed me in an adventure I absolutely loved the most. It was not innovative or groundbreaking in any way, and it did not matter to me in the slightest.
Bloodborne was for me another, albeit different, adventure that immersed me completely. The world was engaging and creepy. The combat was pure perfection in my book. The music and atmosphere, just god, holy shit. Like those moments that will stay with me forever, like when you’re at the university, you go outside, and the man is sitting in the chair, and he simply points to the lake without saying a word, and what follows, just goddamn. The NPCs, while admittedly smaller in number compared to other Souls titles, were all memorable and crazy and badass.
And really, yes gaming can be a lot of things, but it feels like you’re pigeonholing the medium by saying the best games HAVE to do all of those things. No, they do not necessarily, like there are people out there who have a Mario Kart or a fighting game or two in their top 10s, and their opinions aren’t less valid just because those games didn’t have certain aspects. Not all games need to cover every single base there is.
It's my favorite game too. That's why I'm so upset with Sony not giving a shit about it. Not even a remaster for PS5. And since they're got the hots for GaaS why not evolve the Chalice Dungeons into a live service game, solo, co-op and PvP? You could add new dungeons, bosses, levels, weapons, items etc, in randomly generated dungeons. Always thought the Chalice Dungeons had such potential to be something great. Something that could potentially last for years, with new fresh updates constantly keeping the community engaged. But no, we get focus tested crap like Fairgames instead.
Yeah Bloodborne is the only Fromsoftware game that clicked with me....Bloodborne and 3D Dot Game Heroes.
I don't know if it is the more agressive playstyle and the risk/reward system being different but I loved Bloodborne.
I couldn't get into demon Souls either there's really only 2 fromsoft games that I really like Bloodborne and 3d dot game heroes (I'll keep talking about 3d dot games because it is a real gem).I got either bored or frustrated that the main thing you need to do in most fromsoft games is wait until the ennemis attack then parry, the rest is pretty useless or mùaybe I didn't have the patience to get more useful weapons or shit like that but why would I have patience to games I am not enjoying.Pretty much the same for me. Dark Souls 3 didn't click with me the same way, largely due to the limited amount of healing items, the lack of health regain via countering, a different kind of parry mechanic, and countless weapons that felt the same, but Demon's Souls remake was much more to my taste. Partly because it also had some horror elements.

Yep that game is criminally underrated, it's absence of digital edition and limited physical release didn't help though.I didn't realize 3D Dot Game Heroes was made by From until now. I didn't really follow the studio before Bloodborne, so that's never registered for me before. The visual style is very charming.

I don't know if it is considered advocating for piracy but it works well on emulators...That's really a shame. I'd love to try it.
Yep after beating Ludwig you get the Holy Moonlight Sword, and it is the single best Moonlight Greatsword of any From game hands down.Really? I never played the DLC to know, but was people mistaking with the moon sword from Elden Ring lunar princess Rena?
I can second that. This summary basically made Bloodborne go from amazing game to one of the best games ever made for me.I read this and then i played it again and finished it. Amazing game and amazing story/lore.

If it clicks for you it will likely become one of your favorites, and then you will bear the from soft curseI hear so many amazing things about this game I really should play it. Max dood always raves about it who I watch alot.
I bought it a couple years ago because it was on sale for $5 and only played like 10 minutes for some reason. The problem with me is Im an old fart that just keeps replaying my old favorites ( ocarina of time, uncharted 2, metal gear solid etc ) so I have this huge backlog of new (or used to be new) games I never get to but just keep buying because of gaming sales like an animal!!
I havn’t really played any souls game’s honestly either (i still need to try elden ring from all the hype)
Whats the real hook to this game? How long should one push through to play until they know its for them or not?
I can appreciate amazing games even if they are not for me, so if they are beloved, Ill even push through to the end to give it a fair shot and see what people see in a highly acclaimed game.
I just bought a used PS4 yesterday just for Bloodborne lol
I disagree. It's a very good game but I think Donkey Kong is the best game ever.Mortal Kombat on Sega Genesis is the best video game ever.
