Call of Duty: Black Ops III |OT| No Content For Old Gen

Nothing.

I just love me Nuketown. The chaos. The gun leveling. It's my kind of fun.

Oh okay lol.

I noticed I've been getting an awful lot of duplicates from the rare supply drops lately. I think this has to do with the additions of the daily and weekly contracts.

Feels like the player count for people with DLC is extremely low. Everytime a DLC map is selected, seems like the match never gets going and eventually people drop off.

If you have the DLC installed, then the only players you're getting matched up with are those who have the same DLC installed.

Interesting. Yeah I have both DLC's installed. I found it weird that only when the new maps are an option, the game has had trouble repopulating the lobby.

I cant even get a match started in Eclipse playlist.

anecdotal, but on the XB1 it feels like users hate the newest edition of maps and will back out if those are the only options or if one of those maps are chosen.

The way Treyarch did the season pass for this games sucks. In AW you could have the season pass but not have every DLC installed and you'd be fine. With BO3 if you have the season pass you can't get rid of any of the DLC and the season pass is a service that is permanently stuck to your account. So forever you'll have shitty maps and be stuck in a smaller matchmaking pool.

I dont remember long shots being this tedious in previous CoD's..

They go quick if you know all the good long shot positions. I can get them done in 1-2 matches of tdm if the right maps come up. Check out xclusive ace's latest video on this topic.

Generally speaking, house to house on fringe, infection, hunted, etc will do it.

Eh, thats overstating it. Some maps are good, most are ok, and some are bad, just like the base maps.

I hate the lot except for rise, I just dont think theyre well designed at all. Theyre all so carefully made for balance that none of them give you any decent lines of sight, its all crates and blocking walls and stuff. I just hate em.

I was just looking at my weapon stats and noticed that I have a 93,700% accuracy with the Rift E9. I'd say that may be bugged. :p

This is the general direction of COD maps as of the last several entries. It's like they sit down and play a simple addition/subtraction game. Make symetricalish map, check. Add bunker/building to one side, check. Add similar to the other, check. Add middle map left right and center lane debris to obstruct line of site, check. Add theme to map once complete.

The maps feel so rooted in a math formula that despite the themes, they feel characterless.

I agree with your sentiment completely.

I hate seeing the building blocks for this too, a boarded up window,..you know it was open until they found it a bit too good of a lookout. A blocked door the same, you know it was open and then 'tweaked' to be closed off.

They might as well just drop you in a 200x200 grid box maze and randomly sort it each time. There you go everyone, the next 10 years of maps, minus the pretty art.

Anyone go for Outrider gear today? Ended up getting the Pharoah head which pleased me, since I had the body already.

The bribes are a bad joke getting worse over time.

1/ what a crap bribe, guaranteed top item for outrider, whoop de do.
2/ DOUBLE THE PRICE of a rare.
3/ SIX TIMES ok no more caps sorry - six times the price of a common

Firstly ..treyarch..read these words of mine. No one gives a shiny shit about these costumes, decals, cards, hats, gestures, any of it. They are at best a tiny bonus (the game is firstperson, you don't see any of this shit apart from 10 seconds at the end). People only want the guns.

Secondly..the more of this horseshit they add, the lower your chance of getting a gun is. Marvellous, 50 more cards! Great..now weapon drop % is about 0.5 percent..with no influence on the following roll...so basically 1 in 200 chance every drop of it being worth anything.

Dupes still generate sweet fanny all in keys back

Contracts pay absolute PEANUTS considering..50,000 score in a week (score, not XP so its even less) for how many keys...30? One fucking rare? Or HALF a bribe?

Listen..treyarch..pals...you made a good game. It is dead in about 3 months, its as good as dead for most people even now. No one gives a hoot about any of your dlc apart from the guns, and even then they are pretty terrible. I got the marshall tonight. I shrugged because there are now energy weapons in there to try that I know I wont see unless super lucky. Your game is almost over, are you in a bubble thinking that people are doing contracts to earn more calling cards, or outrider hats. They are not. Your year in the sun is almost done, and there are even 2 more map packs to drop. If theyre anything like the last 2, I wont even download them so I dont have to suffer them, and I've already paid for them. Thats how bad things are now.

I'm a huge fan of this, but honestly, they are pissing me off more and more by the week. I'm in for inf warface + cod 4..but there is no way in hell im touching the season pass, and I would rather punch myself in the balls than buy cod points. In 3 months no one will be following treyarch twitter, you can put 2XP on every weekend and people will be moved on.. its as good as over now.

If I was in charge. 2x cryptos AT ALL TIMES. Better contracts. Wager matches. Parties to work in FFA (game parties not audio parties). 2 free rare drops per week for EVERYONE. 1 automatic weapon crate a month for EVERYONE and 1 melee weapon a month for EVERYONE. More fun custom modes. The BONUS playlist has a hardcore equivalent (wana pay nuketown all day? sure..but not in hardcore, tough). Vary the skyboxes on maps to give them a new feel..give us Combine at night, Hunted when its raining, etc. Half life 1 did this almost 20 years ago. Special free crate for ALL USERS to unlock all gestures for 1 specialist - pick your fave and have all their little dances.

Hire me as your community person and put me in charge of your buttons and switches. I'm less angry than I sound and I'll run the last 3 months like you've never seen.

Rant over.

Honestly, the whole system would be bearable if there were simply no duplicates (at least, not in Rares). There's still enough there to keep you playing for ages. It doesn't have to be endless. I've stopped playing because I figure there are weapons I'm just never going to see. As far as costumes, weapons skins, cards, etc. go, it's too random to treat it like a 'gotta collect 'em all' metagame. It's never going to happen. The chances of completing even one character's 'wardrobe' are microscopic.

I don't have that kind of time to waste. Quite frankly, it's abusive.

Yeah, I hear you guys.

Grinding Cryptokeys isn't so much a problem, but gambling them away for nothing is. No one has time for that.

I don't like that they implemented that system in Zombies, either. Sure you get at least 2-3 diviniums for the average player, but still.

It's not nearly as bad in zombies, IMO. I don't feel like I'm missing out when I don't have the best gobblegum. They're unnecessary but helpful boosters. If you had to use liquid divinium to open the random weapon box or something, then it'd be as bad.

I'm so glad I didn't play enough BO3 to get burned out like it seems most people did here. I'm at prestige 6 and I'm still having fun despite playing CoD mostly by myself these days, since my old CoD buddies have moved on to play other games on different consoles. Well, all that, and I'm just now a busy person these days working 40+ hours per week and trying to live my life, which wasn't the case as much back when older CoD games were the latest.

The only DLC weapon that I really care about getting right now is the FFAR, since I managed to get the MX Garand recently. Most of the DLC weapons aren't even that great. Plus I'm not driving myself mad going for camos or getting Cryptokeys for supply drops. Supply drops are a bonus to me, whatever is already in the game I'm quite satisfied with. Not that I'm defending the supply drop gating of weapons and such, but I just can't be upset because I'm too busy to care.

I'm still hyped for IW, supply drops or not. I already know I'll be spending $0 on supply drops just like with Advanced Warfare or Black Ops 3.

The E3 showing of IW looked really good, but I think I'm going to pass on it. Unless the verdict is that the game is really really good, or they have a beta that gets me hooked. I'll probably try Titanfall 2 this year.

The guns in the weapon drops are weird to me as they're either OP or terrible by what I hear.

The FFAR kicks higher than Seabiscuit. Not a fan.

I'm going to wait and see what kind of supply drop system they have. I mean it's almost guaranteed at this point that there'll be supply drop weapons but maybe there's that 1% chance they don't do it.

Call of Duty has already inspired many trends in the industry like annual releases and $50 season passes. I really don't want this terrible microtransaction system to be the next trend. I want to see them backtrack on it.

The only other series that does $50 season passes is Battlefield as far as I'm aware. Plus the microtransactions of gambling for random stuff came wayyyyyy before CoD.

Agree with everything you guys say about this game and the drops, the more they add the worse the chances get, and also the price of those bribes for specialists is obscene who in their right mind spends 60 keys on those things?

I swear they are trolling at this point with them.

I do enjoy BO3 for just jumping on and having some fun as now I just ignore the drops as if they aren't there and I enjoy it much more if I ignore the whole system.

I too am holding off on IW as I will want to see what type of system they have in MP, it will either be the same as Treyarch or sledgehammers depending on how aggressive Activision want to be and that turns me right off.

Exactly. The biggest competitor to Call of Duty decided to do the same shitty price model just cause Call of Duty can get away with it.

And if you read my first paragraph, you'll see the context of the second paragraph. I was talking about the weapon drops in the microtransactions, not the microtransactions themselves.

At least Battlefield includes new weapons in its DLC and the battlepacks system didn't give you duplicates (except xp boosters. Screw xp boosters.)

Man, as a solo TDM player, this week's contract sucks. I figured I'd play Dom and give it a shot. What a clusterfuck. Got the required attack/defend kills done easily, always top of my team on the leaderboard, and sitting at 3/15 wins. I might skip Blackjack this week.

safeguard is objective based and relatively quick compared to dom.

or demolition if you dont like safeguard

From what I've heard, most of the weapons, including the DLC weapons in BF games tend to just be copy/paste versions of other weapons, just with a different skin. That's not a good solution at all. It's quantity for the sake of quantity.

This is one of the reasons Black Ops 1 ultimately ended up being one of my least favorite CoD. Some weapons are literally the same thing, but different skins, like the Famas/Aug.

Luckily, Treyarch did a great job differentiating weapons and making them all feel unique with Black Ops 2 and up.

Haven't played Black Ops III in a few days, so when I checked today's daily of "100 Kills Collector", I saw I already completed. Hmm? I'm the only one who plays my PS4.

That's not the case, at least not for DLC weapons. In Battlefield 4, I think there was maybe one gun per weapon class that had what appeared to be a clone version, which is a very small number of guns in the grand scheme of the game. However, differences between weapons in Battlefield can be more subtle than those in Call of Duty. There are a few more factors like bullet velocity, bullet drop, and different fire modes that can differentiate weapons beyond even what is shown on the official stats.

Good to know that it's not the case too much. I've had BF4 and Hardline, but never played the MP for them cause BF3 burned me out on BF multiplayer.

Call me a hipster, but I popped in Black Ops 2 last night on the Wii U and was such an awesome experience. The shooting, the hit detection, everything felt smooth like butter.

Off-TV play was so amazing for this game, and playing "splitscreen" online was amazing because you each had your own full screen to look at. Probably the biggest reason it's my most played CoD game.

I think it's also due to the fact that I use the Pro controller, and love that controller. I might need to try it out with the PS4 and my CronusMAX again to see the difference.

To this day I still prefer the stick layout of the Pro Controller(and by extension the gamepad) for FPS games. The digital triggers were much better for spamming too.

Just wrapped up this small challenge. I only really started going for it in the last 2 weeks after realizing how far along I was with most guns. I wanted to pass out when I saw it pop up on the screen finally. Now back to playing with some regular guns before maybe going for DM on Black Market weapons. :p

I will say, I think the grind really helped me out as a player in adapting to new guns and play styles. I'm not the best player in the world, but definitely feel more confident after this grind.

Edit: Well, I guess this is a good way to kick off another page.
