Dark Cloud 2 - Thanks for the recommendation.

Since this is actually the first JRPG I've played since um...the 16 bit era, I wasn't sure what I would think.

But it's very fun. I love the georama aspect. Art is nice, music is very nice, and the invention/resource management part of the game is cool as well. Combat's not too difficult, but I like the challenges that are set for each level of a given dungeon. The enemy variety is pretty good also. The story is bit cheesy, but I expected as much. Right now I'm about 30 hours into the game (just started chapter 4).

I was also looking for an RPG to play, and hated DC2. I found managing the shitload of items you collect tedious, the random dungeons were boring as hell, and the story was very childish.

However, I got Shadow Hearts 2 recently and I can't praise it enough.

I didn't like it. In theory the depth of the game should have won me over, but the combat is awful, and there's too many inane "minigames". I hate fishing minigames with a passion.

And the framerate took a dive too. At least DC1 had 60fps in dungeons.

Well damn. This was probably the most recommended game in my other threads. Anyway, I like it so far. It's not perfect, but I enjoy its concepts.

I loved the game, only really bad thing was the story. Smaller issues include the georama system, which became too complicated for its own good compared to the first game. Also, the framerate took a dive, like Moxmaniac said.
And finally, there was too much slow running...if I recall correctly you had to run to the starting point of Spheda in a level in order to play it, for example...which could take quite a while.

But all in all, a great game that consumed lots of gaming hours for me...I remember being astounded by the sheer amount of minigames introduced as I progressed through the game. It was just insane...and add to that the invention system...all the different weapons to upgrade, skills to use, etc etc etc.

Yea, I have troubles getting into this one as well. The idea of building a personalized warmech to slink into during the dungeon stages excites me immensely...and then I am crushed to learn of the gobs of inane picture-taking required per enjoyment of said feature.

I completed and enjoyed DC1 despite it's flaws....I'll never reach Chapter 3 of DC2.

Fuck the haters.

It's a great game. Up until recently, one of the best of the generation. It's good to see people take GAF advice and actually come out happy about it.

No, you have the option to go directly to the ball when you clear a dungeon. At least in the PAL-version of the game.

I rented it out based on GAF's opinion and was horribly shamed. It's the type of RPG you play a few hours in, realise it's just going to be the damn same and I gave up.

The only bad thing about dc2 is random dungeons and the music. The dungeons in the chapter 2, 3, 4 etc just drag on forever. I gave up at on chapter 4

OK, then there's something else I'm thinking about...maybe running to the treasure chest with your reward after completing Spheda? Or having to run all the way to the exit afterwards? I know it was something...

Dark Cloud 2 rules.
And now Speevy rules because he's playing it and liking it.

Every Dark Cloud 2 owner rules. (except if you play it tks to piracy)

We should start pushing some threads about Dark Could 3.

Dark Cloud 2... awesome game. And I liked taking pictures, it was actually pretty fun =P

meh I didn't enjoy Dark Cloud 2, the georama system was cool, but having to walk all the way to the train to buy material sucked, and the story didn't really motivate me to complete the game. I stopped in that chapter with the rabbit, that dungeon was extremely boring
