I like how this character was written. He is probably my favorite in any jrpg ever.
First of all, he was basically absent for the first half of the game. And then they set him up perfectly. He enters in his mech and you never see his face until later. Bit for bit, you learn more about him.
He then gets the label as a supervillian which everyone wants to hate.
But the plot twist at the end is so damn satiesfying. It turns out that Egil has been fighting the good fight the whole time and ends up as a tragic hero.
I like unexpected twists like this, and what made XBC1 so good. The voice acting is also 100% on point.
