So two announcements out of AX already. Sekai Project is bringing Planetarian to Steam, which is a surprise considering it's a Key VN. And Grisaia no Kajitsu is getting an official release.

I'm very surprised about Planetarian, but a welcome surprise nonetheless. Hopefully this will path the way to get more Key VNs officially translated

As for Grisaia no Kajitsu, is it the original 18+ PC version? Still, VERY surprised about this one.
I wish this will help to get Meikyuu officially and faster too

Apparently the the Sekai Project release of Grisaia will be all-ages. And since the staff and base translation is carrying over from the fan translation, maybe this is what koestl (Grisaia's translator that got a job translating an unknown VN) is working on?

MangaGamer has:
Gahkthun of Golden Lightning (formerly Ourai no Gahkthun -What a shining braves-)
Ozmafia
No Thank You!
And the Steam release of Higurashi with improved translation and different art

JAST announced:
My Girlfriend is the President Fandisc ~Side Ell~ and ~Side Irina~
Kana: Okaeri
Lightning Warrior Raidy 3
Harajuku Dating Paradise (out now)
They also assured the bajillion other things they announced some time ago are still being worked on.

Let's see... Impressions in order of appearance:
Interesting, since most of Liar-soft games are pretty good
Otome, not really interested :(
Yaoi game... Hahaha... nope :/
Might finally try Higurashi with this

Interested just for the lulz, since I sort of enjoyed the original.
I really, really need to see how the artwork is with this one. The original is still one of my favorite visual novels and the first one I actually read, so I'm hoping for the best. (EDIT: Reason why I said this is because the Japanese fans complained quite a bit from some changes. I just saw the images. Decent, but nothing out of this world. Might bite in the end, tho)
Nukige, pass
ROFL, Jast releasing a game out of nowhere? Shame it's a Nukige again lol
Are they ever going to release those? :/

So what are non-nukige? I know the Lightning one is an Otome game.

On the MG side? I don't think they announced a single one. All of them seem pretty plot-heavy (and Ozmafia is all ages).
I'm basically interested in getting them all.

On Jast's side I'd assume the last two are more focused on porn, but I'm not that interested in those titles so I'm not frantically googling.

Also, Ozmafia is otome, NTY!!! is yaoi, Lightning (if you meant Gahkthun) seems geared towards male audiences.

No Thank You! might be a bit more heavy 18+ content. The Osadai fan disc would probably be a bit similar in content, as most fan discs are.

Been some pretty good announcements overall. I'm pretty excited for the Liar-soft game. Then Euphoria might be announced soon which is the most tame VN I've ever seen
that "clothing damage" tag though
.

Yeah, I was on my phone and misunderstood some Twitter comments and mixed up the titles. Looking at things now. MangaGamer had some nice announcements.

I didn't catch her name (if she gave it) but the lady who was sitting closest to the camera during the stream posts on 4chan's Otome and BL games threads as Good Haro. She shared a few details about NTY, as vague as they are!
I want to hold out for a physical copy but I also want to support it ASAP. Life is hard.

Hmmm, hopefully the release is sooner, rather than later. I'm glad the translation is already done though.

I'll be getting it day one, but if they release a physical copy afterward, I'll probably double dip. Does this company ever include any extra stuff with their physical copies?

Edit: Beyond G-Haro, (probably the same person), tweeted some interesting stuff about NTY earlier today. MangaGamer's account RT'd it all.

I hear from Good Haro that No, Thank You is actually pretty good on it own right, even if it is BL, so I have high hopes for it.

From Kouryuu's ask.fm page...

I think that NTY will do really well. There are currently 3 other major BL/Bara games in development. Since there are so few in English, one of them generated 6 figures on KS. When do you plan to release NTY? Soon would be nice since 2 are scheduled for late this year and another for early next year

Honestly, given current progress, No Thank You will probably see a similar release time--late this year, or early next.

What three "major" BL/Bara games are being referred to here? And which one was on Kickstarter?

The only ones I know of besides NTY are Coming Out On Top (which was on Kickstarter, but had a 5 figure total), and Super Health Club.

Cross-post from another thread so people see it...

Just an update, I talked to bishoptl, and I actually got the go-ahead to do an OT for No, Thank You!!!, of course, it would have to be heavily monitored, and very strictly controlled.

The topic would have to be primarily about the storyline of the game, and references to any romantic/sexual scenes have to be all SFW.

My question is, would that be enough for people interested to merit an OT here about the game? I'd love to be able to discuss it here on GAF, and I think it would be cool to be able to set a precedent for more mature discussions about these types of games, as well as give exposure to content being released with gay guys and straight girls in mind, but only if people here would be receptive to it.

Just let me know.

Early next year would suck, but nothing I can do about it. When are those other two games you mentioned coming out?

Neither of them have release dates yet, but both are aiming for the end of this year.

Super Health Club's first beta is coming up in a few days, and COOT has had a couple builds already, with another one coming next month.

About to start Ever17. Should I follow a guide, or just roll with it? The save system looks like a pain to use.

Probably way too late, but no guide. The game blanks out choices you've made prior so you don't ever need a guide and it's fairly easy to know with route you're on.

How is D.C. Da Capo? Is the story good?

Pretty damn average honestly, the second is a little better but not by much. However, if you like those kind of high school love stories the Japanese are fond of you might enjoy it enough. The GD thread on VNDB for the game gives some other impressions if you want more convincing.

H scenes left in, but censored?

No idea.

That could be glorious, but unlikely. We might possibly get a 18+ version sold outside of Steam released along with the Steam one.

Just finished Muv-Luv Alternative. That was one hell of a ride ~
I went trough Extra and Unlimited pretty fast but it took me month to finish this one.

I now understand why it's considered as one of the best VN, even though the beginning of the game was a little too slow. Also i saw a lot of criticism toward the end, can't really understand why, i don't think it was a bad one.

Now i'm wondering what's the next i will do, the only PC VN i did so far are the Muv-Luv and Ever17, which i loved too.
Most likely i will give a try to Steins;gate, i don't feel like starting the FSN series yet.

I'd calling the ending anti-climatic more than anything.

After months of putting it off, I finally started G-senjou no Maou.

So far I'm not liking the main character too much. He's giving off a Makoto from School Days vibe. Too bad every VN main character can't be Battler.

It gets good soon right? (I say as I am only an hour in.)

EDIT:

I'm trying not to say "forget this" and stop playing. I HATE the main character. Such a douche-ass.

Hey,
Sorry if this doesnt belong here but I'd really like to try out Danganronpa on the Vita (and the 2nd one when it comes out), is it really worth buying a Vita just for those?
They do really sound as though theyd be up my street though :D
I'm also wondering whether I should get Steins Gate with improved translation or original. I dont think I have a good enough PC for the new translation (it recommends 3.4Gig processor speed or something, and mine is 2.1 GHz, oh well).

Danganronpa is amazing. If you like Ace Attorney and Zero Escape, you'll love it. Between Danganronpa 1/2, Ys, and the PS+ games, my Vita has been well worth the purchase.

Yeah I wouldn't take those requirements to heart especially with something like this, but it runs fine on my laptop and it's 2.1 GHz if it makes you feel better.

Thank you very much! :D I love both Ace Attorney and Zero Escape, so I'm sure it will be great.
Hopefully I'll invest in a Vita/SG soon but wanted to be sure it (SG) will work, thats all :D

JAST's SG release has different system requirements from the original? I don't think they changed anything engine related, so I'm not sure why that'd be the case other than lack of testing.

This is what I found on TRSI:

System Requirements:
Windows XP (32-bit only) / Vista (32-bit only) / 7 / 8
CPU: (Required) Pentium 4 / (Recommended) Pentium 4 3GHz, Core2Duo
Harddrive Space: 3.0GB
Monitor Resolution: 1024 x 768
Graphics: 64MB VRAM, DirectX 9.0c

Not sure I have all (any?) of those processors for the CPU tbh, I'm on Windows 7 SP1 (64 bit)

Pentium 4 is 15 years old. I'm surprised if you have an older CPU.

You can find out what processor you have from dxdiag though if you want to. Just open the start menu and write dxdiag on the search field and press enter. It might ask you for a permission to do something, just press ok or yes or whatever.

Cheers :) I just checked as you said, and it just said "Intel Pentium" but I checked the model spec (B950), that was launched in 2011 apparently. So it should be fine.

No idea what that is, but I'll check it out.

Harvest Festa being up next makes me happy.

It's supposed to be pretty good and pretty over the top shounen-y in the way that only things that know they're over the top shounen-y can be, if I'm thinking of the right game.

Honestly I wish there were more interesting things getting worked on right now, it's always nice to play stuff in a language I understand better.

Sounds great! Will keep an eye on it.

Comyu patch today or tomorrow, thought you ought to know. My JP backlog is miles long, so I'm not touching it for a while unless people say it's really good

Seeing as I have nothing better to read for a loooong while, I'll sacrifice myself and read it as soon as possible.

Man, I really ought to learn Japanese, but I can't be arsed to learn it by myself. *sigh*

Know what, this game didn't deserve the long winded explanation.

G-senjou no Maou will be the first, and possibly only, VN that I refuse to finish.

Music was good though.
