Season 1 started off pretty bad, but it came into it's own by the end.

The prequel series was pretty great. It introduced Gannicus, one of the best characters.

Season 2 was the worst. It was pretty hard getting used to the new Spartacus and Naevia. Even if they never had to recast it would still be the weakest season.

Season 3 was great. Liam really came into his own as Spartacus. I thought he did justice to the character after having to follow Andy. I never really got used to the new Naevia, but she was more tolerable this season.

I only have a few gripes about the the show, one being the way they killed off the mighty Ashur

I guess Spartacus is not recommended to impressionable people. You should just keep watching fantasy, unrealistic series IMO.
