they probably have to give visuals priority to meet the expectations.
Sure but do the visuals really take all the manpower though? They obviously already have more than enough know-how in that area, they made the original on a low budget and it was one of the best looking games released back then.
Good visuals is like THE area I’d think they’d be able to work most efficiently.
Combat was pretty good in Hellblade though, so I imagine they made it more fluid.
It was serviceable for a low budget indie game, and the focus back then was not on the combat but rather everything else about the game that felt very unique (setting, themes etc.).
And the puzzles were pretty bad, although also serviceable given the restrictions.
To me this feels kind of like a ‘A Plauge Tale’ scenario. The first title was fantastic because it was unexpected, the second was pretty bad because it did the exact same thing again and improved next to nothing.
Hopefully we’ll get a lot more promising footage going forward. I’m keeping my fingers crossed at least.
