Gay porn is where it's at.
i just found out i have this on my steam, i must've got it on sale and forgot about it. never really played a fallout game for more than 6 hours, and this game especially looks so fucking bad graphically from what i've seen.
is there any recommended mods i should get?

It's an amazing game. Get some mods, look for mod lists/collections on Nexus or Wabberjack.

For even more fun, get both Fallout 3 and NV and use Tales of Two Lands mod to combine the two.

Just played it last week. With mods it's pretty astounding.

I highly recommend using this:
Making it play like a modern Fallout.

Together with New Vegas Reloaded, replacing the renderer, adding shadow maps for example:

It’s an ugly game and was ugly even when it released but it’s choice and consequence gameplay is the best of the Bethesda-era Fallouts.

Gamers who stuck with it say the game is great. But you need to download all the patches and good mods.

For me, I gave up right away. Coming from F3 i thought it would be awesome. I thought it was pure dogshit. Looked crap and tons of bugs and quirks. I bailed before all the fixes came about.

It’s a modern masterpiece of choice and consequence and roleplaying. 10/10 and in my GOAT discussion.

Only mod I would recommend for first playthrough is the run speed modifier.

As overrated as the day it released. Pretty good story choices especially considering when it came out, but atmosphere wise its miles behind Fallout 3/4, and the side stories/weird stuff is just boring. Buggy as hell, and quite boring. I'd rather experience Fallout 3, 10 more times rather than play a second of FNV,

It's better than Starfield if that's what you're asking. I'm not trying to hate on Starfield either as there's aspects I like about it such as graphics, combat, and voice acting which blow NV out of the water. However, game design in recent Bethesda games is too casual friendly.

Aside from the choice and consequence that NV does so well, it actually makes you play it as an RPG, whereas Fallout 4 and Starfield just throw resources at you like crazy. Using Vats is more fun in F3 and NV, you're forced to scavenge for every bit of ammo and health, the story and factions are really compelling, if you dress in the clothes of a faction other factions will target you, etc

Game also has a great atmosphere and charm.

How is the atmosphere worse? I don't see that one ..

Was about to say this.

I haven't done a playtrough in about a decade tho but with the mods available I'm sure it would be amazing.

It will be amazing 10 years from now, 20 years from now, 30 years from now, and so on.

What time is it?
I've watched so many long form videos on how great NV is, but every time I start it, I go into 3rd person and it is so hard to go back to that animation system. It's one of my gaming white whales and I'm determined to give it a fair shake eventually. The intro is dope though.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
timeless game is still timeless my guy

I played Starfield for 10 minutes today (got the overwhelmed feeling) and went right back into playing Fallout NV for my 5th playthrough. It's simply fantastic. If you care about visuals then Bethesda games aren't for you. I personally like Fallout 3 better as I like the DLC better but really it's just as every bit good.

Speaking as someone who played it for the first time a few years ago (and hated Fallout 3 when I tried it further back), New Vegas is great. One of the few, high profile titles that deserves the label 'RPG'.

Your first problem is trying to play an old Bethesda rpg in 3rd person (I know it's obsidian). These games were meant to be played first person as every one has had terrible 3rd person animation.

Not a problem, pal. I played Morrowind with both perspectives so I'm more than familiar.
