ideas that should be integrated into most games or genres

I was playing espn basketball, and created a playoff bracket. I played 3 games before I began the playoffs. I lost all 3, but after those few games, I began killing the cpu. The difficulty level was on pro. So I bumped it up to all-star game 2 of the 1st round, and I beat them in a see saw game, but they were competitive, even though I felt in control. I was thinking about bumping the diffficulty up again, but I think I might wait a round..

Which made me think, why do sport games go by a certain difficulty level that you can choose? In a way, I hate having to decide my challenge. Why don't developers ever change this system? Because when you think about it, in real life, the difficulty changes by team, not by the option menu. And as far as teams go, they're all basically the same feel to em. It's kind of ridiculous. Why hasn't a developer like EA... :lol nm. Not quite the innovators there. But why hasn't a developer ever attached difficulty to different teams? I think this should be the norm! Individually each team should vary, with sliders customized by the developers. And they should adapt by which players you trade, release, sign, whatever. I'd like to see the extreme changes in challenge from team to team, not option to option.

It'd make for a hell of a lot more interesting season, and playoff atmosphere would be unpredictable and exciting. The game wouldn't even have to tell you what they're set to. Anyway, turn based also needs a shot in the arm. It's ridiculous anymore and gives the same damn feel to a lot of games. Share your ideas bitches.

Selectable difficulty.

NO WATER LEVELS
NO ESCORT MISSIONS (unless it's like RE4, where they did a PERFECT job on it).

Large, barren, confusing hub worlds.

But seriously.. I'd like to see unlockables and the ability to play after the credits roll in all games. That "well you can use your pre-last boss save" crap DOESN'T FLY.

is still not universal implemented but it should be on every FPS:

-Using every freaking weapon as a melee attack. (Since H:CE)

- Pausable and skippable cutscenes

yes! Nothing worse than a phone ring when your by yourself playing a cinematic game. For that very reason, I played MGS3 every night when I got it, from like, midnight to 3-3:30. Pure silence.

I agree with this. How many games have killed their replay value for you due to some tedious action that you just don't feel like doing ever again? How about allowing us the option of skipping over something tedious the 2nd (and up) times around? For example, imagine a Wind Waker replay mode where the triforce fetch quest is already completed for you? That would rock.

Another suggestion (although lots of games are probably doing this nowadays):

- Customizable controls. For EVERY game.

In any fighting game with real fighting styles, actually integrate the appropriate defensive maneuvers for deflecting attacks. No more of this generic holding up their arms. Like if someone's fighting style is Karate, have them do the correct block for a punch coming at them. Sure, it'd be a lot of additional motion capture, but the end result would be cool.

Also, I think animations need to be a little less canned. In real life, a stance or movement is never going to be the exact same thing twice.

I guess you can see where I'm going with these ideas; How 'bout developers really aim for a greater sense of realism?

A "Chapters" menu like in Conker's Bad Fur Day where you can replay every single level.
I really hate it that so few games adopted it and we still have to play halfway through the same game again (or keep copies of old game saves) if we simply want to repeat a great boss fight.

I whinny my fervor lowly, for his length is not as great as those of the Hylian war stallions
for RTS, everyone should examine Empire Earth 2 closely for interface ideas... :D

I agree with all of your points, but I would add a feature I've seen for the first time in Advent Rising and really liked: the cutscenes shouldn't only be pausable and skippable, but also restartable. And also a movie theater which allows you to see all the cutscenes you've seen so far is a must imho.

I forgot about one of the things I wanted to say:

games should have the "Inability Question" asked when you fail for the tenth time at the same point in a mission. For example if they put a j'n'r section in a FPS and the player, while being able to kill ten enemies at the same time using his bare hands, isn't able to master this level. Especially for people like myself who gets frustrated very soon places where you fale various time are show stoppers.

IMHO, they should ask you if you want to skip that part after a couple of failures.

Yes, I know, I'm a pussy at gaming! :D

Agreed, I absolutely loved that feature and I've played the Matrix level about thousand times thanks to it. I'd love it if GTA had a mission selector, it's a shame they haven't added one yet.

My main gripe is with fps and other first person games in general. Not so much the gameplay, but how after years and years no one has ever thought to take the actual point of view to the next level. Whenever you play first person games all you ever see is your hands holding a weapon and many games don't even give you that, just a gun. I really want to see them tweak the view so it really feels more like that's actually you running through the worlds. Really study and implement the view of your own body and the area from a real human eye perspective instead of a shotgun coming out of your forehead which is what it looks like most of the time. I'd like to see similar first person detail in more racers as well.

Skippable training missions.

If you do really well, your character gets a new hat.

Sassy robots.

Hitlerbots.

Minigames where you get to punch former German dictator Adolf Hitler in the stomach.

TTP

Have a fun! Enjoy!
one more:

Allow game save files management from within the game. I hate when games tell me I don't have enough space on the memory card and I have to exit them to make room.

customizable controls for every fucking game on planet earth. Don't give me any of this "we don't want people to screw up the controls and make the game unplayable". Just have the option to restore the default setup right there.

I second being able to watch cutscenes after you've finished the game. I realize for some games you wouldn't even want to play through it again, but if you're creative enough, then there can be an incentive for doing so.

Saving

Profile saving system

no more of this Deus Ex 2 saving bullshit where all saves look alike and only the time and date differentiate them...allow the player to create a profile and then have 10 or more saves just for them

also...no more of this only one save per memory card (even though you could fit much more) bullshit as seen in the GT series

Difficulty Options

when you choose hard, you don't want the enemies to **JUST** gain extra health, defense, and damage, as well as the game reducing your health...you want the enemies to become smarter and naturally more challenging (NG and DMC3 are good examples of what I'm thinking of)

RPGs

no random battles...everything else can stay

FPS

no war setting UNLESS you are Battlefield...FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!

DCX

DCX
- Subtitles/Closed Captioning
- screen positioning
- option for selectable audio in every game!
- the ability to map the controls to any button/pad you want.

DCX

As mentioned, customizable controls for sure. Especially the x-axis invert camera option.

I also wish more games had a save/checkpoint system ala RE4, God of War and Halo.

audio swithcing within a (pal) game. man, i`ll hate that, i have to switch my ps2 in the main menü to another language, when i will not listen to the (shitty) german speech. if you look at the dvds, you knwo, that its not hard to make switching the audiostreams within the game!!!

Birghtness - I hate when I can't see a damn thing unless I play the game at midnight with no lights on.

Quest Items should always stand out from the scenery in 3D games, I don't want to wander around for 3 hours trying to find some item, barely visable, to continue my journey.

They need to make it that there is a way to gather more clues to figure out puzzles. Some games have these nonsense puzzles and they hardly give you anything to work with. I usually just end up checking a faq which sucks, it would be way better if there was an optional side quest or something to get more information on how to solve a puzzle.
