Images: Starfield looks to me to be the most bold, beautiful and ambitious title on the horizon

The bear of bad news
Considering the sheer breadth of content this game is going to have, the complex NPC structure and persistent living, breathing worlds that Bethesda brings, I can say without a doubt that this is my most hyped game and perhaps my first true glimpse into next gen. I loved The Outer Worlds and this looks to outdo it in every way imaginable. Even the combat is a huge step up, not to mention the addition of space flight and thousand planets to explore. Forget what they told ya, I think we just may be in for the game of the forever.

Starfield's main quest designer is Will Shen, the guy who delivered Far Harbor.

If you haven't played through the DLC, the writing there is incredibly well versed. I ended up choosing different resolutions for the main story, which I never do. It's full of amazing characters with a surprising level of depth. Absolutely night and day difference between that and the base game.

If you add up the sum of its parts, this could be something really, really special.

OP I said something similarly positive on page one of the announcement thread last week. This game looks incredible to me.

...it was pretty depressing seeing people make hateful, apathetic, and dismissive posts later in that thread. I thought this was a forum to celebrate and be passionate about games, but I guess its human nature. When something gets set on a pedestal then other people are going to try and knock it down.

I'm nowhere near as hyped about Starfield as some on GAF seem to be, hell I'm not even hyped at all, but it does at least sound promising enough so far. Best to always go in a tad cynical and end up pleasantly surprised considering the porkies Todd Howard can tell

fuuuuuuuuuck YES!!!

cant wait for this game. i have some concerns, as everyone should, bc its bethesda lol. but oblivion, skyrim, fallout 3 and 4 are some of my favorite games of all time and i dont see starfield being any different. the trailer and screen shots have already surpassed my expectations.

the most important questions are how does the game feel, how does it run, is it fun, etc. i wont be able to make those judgements until im actually playing the game of course, but everything theyve shown looks pretty promising (although not perfect, of course).

praying for MS to get into VR one day, or if this does come to PS one day maybe they can put it on PSVR2 (which i will be getting day one). damn good time to be a gamer

Mostly from what I've seen what I like the most is the cities. I just like the grungy punk like look. The alien sci fi worlds looked boring. The I guess outpost and mining(?) facilities looked dull as well.

Other than that this E3 showcase of the game killed the majority of my interest in the game.

Concur. In an age of soulless remakes, sequels, and play-it-safe design by committee trash Bethesda is still aiming for the stars. Flaws aside, they still are ambitious.
While I agree they are being ambitious and the game looks amazing, lets not conveniently forget this is the same company that re-released Skyrim countless times.

If you are fan of Bethesda games and their gameplay loop, you will love it. Else it will be jarring due to technical "qualities".

Hopefully OP is already their fan. Else could be monumental disappointment.

I love Fallout but am lukewarm over TES. So am cautiously optimistic since it looks more like Fallout.

It's what is called a curates egg. The parts they showed which looked clunky or bad spoiled the impression of everything else.

That post it looks nice but why did it in motion look really rough, like more than a year away rough. Not just bad quality feeds the 4k one even. I hope it’s great I spent 100’s of hours with some of their past games but I am not so sure about this yet.
