They don't like anemic sales for AAA single player games because the budget for those are huge and thus requires massive sales to make a good profit.Sony doesn't like anemic sales.
The development cost to port vs what's made with the paltry sales probably isn't that good.

They now own Nixxess which is a tiny Dutch studio of 55 people that can port two games a year. Running that studio would be under $10 million per year. Income from Steam is around $400 million at this point. From the perspective of Sony it's basically free money.
