My $5000 PC Is My House Money

Eh....that's ok. Now if you say your monitor is 1080p60 then I will hunt you down and kill you.

1440p 144hz, just waiting for a 4k 144+hz MiniLED with 10,000+ dimming zones to drop before I upgrade. The reason? So I can run CRT shader Sony Megatron for old emulators. This is all that matters to me gaming wise anymore.

Your buddy's a retard like the OP. 7800X3D + Mobo + 32GB RAM bundles are under $500, base 4090 is $1599, case need not exceed $100, RM850 PSU's $100, Peerless Assassin's $30, 1TB Nvme's are like $40. That is under $2400 for effectively the fastest consumer gaming PC in existence. No idea how the fuck you could even spend $5000 unless you're literally lighting money on fire and flushing it down the toilet.
These prices? wtf USA. Nothing like that in Poland. 7800x3d alone is over 500. Cheapest gigabyte x670 is 300 alone.

Its kind of funny how many people here care about how much money others spend on their toys and love to put them down for what they consider spending too much

I saw that videos too. I just get some good deals with thru employer discount, and thought about getting one for “one off” type of purchase. Not anymore.

Now I am just going to build one up myself with 3k budget and reusing my old components. (850w PSU, old noctua cooler, some SATA SSDs).

Thinking about going with 7950x3d, x670e board, 64 to 128 RAM, and hopefully a discounted 4080 or 4070 ti super + PCIE 5.0 NVME… maybe 2TB to start.

Mine is more of a workstation, so I don’t upgrade often. Heck my current build is 3930k + GTX970 + 32GB RAM from 11yr ago LOL - if my motherboard supported Windows 11, would probably kept it longer. I plan to upgrade the new one in a few years with final AM5 chipset and GPU upgrade and perhaps add another bigger NVME 5.0 ssd in 2-3 years, and call it a day for another few years down the road…

Come to the forums if you need any help with your build. There are a lot of helpful people here, with regards to PC builds. We're all knowledgeable to different degrees.

My PC-
Corsair Vengeance I8200 $5000
Samsung OLED G9 $1500
Sennheiser 600s Headphones $350

Total - $6850

Most games are trending towards lower Specs.

I feel unseen.

Could this be a new trend?

Edit: By "house money" I mean it could have been used as a down-payment on a house LOL!

6900 downpayment? To what, the ghetto? Add 3 of those setups and then we’re talking.

We are slowly getting there

are we forgetting something here?
That's still and lcd. Just got tons of local dimming leds.
And being an lcd, you still have ips glow (though reduced with leds dimmer), bad angles, ghosting and all of that.
And one thing that is measured on best mini-led tvs out now is the delay. There is noticeable delay for zones to "catch up" behind the image.

Why are some people behaving like the next monitor they are going to buy, is the one to last their entire life?
Just get oled and in 3-5 years get the next best thing. No way in hell I am coming back to lcd

My next monitor will for sure be the upcoming 32" 4k 240hz OLED with glossy screens but I still prefer the mini then micro LED approach end game wise

I just prefer the higher brightness provided by my mini LED TV over OLEDs and you and I have differed on this for what, literal years now?

Its cool though I am currently using a 45" ultrawide OLED monitor and has become my daily driver.

After owning my 12.9" IPad Pro with 10k mini LEDs and can reach like 1600 nits and is already approaching 3 years old I can't wait until someone packs a 32" monitor with mini LEDs accordingly

I just built a PC with a 4090, I9 processor, 64gb of ram and 2TB SSD for just under $4,000 at Microcenter. They assembled it for me in the store as well.
I don't follow you. You me you picked the parts in store and someone built it for you?

If so not seeing what you built apart from the PC in your imagination.

MicroCenter has almost like a Subway sandwich type of section in the store with overhead displays what you can order and they the people working there grab the parts and assemble it for you

But no he didn't actually build it

I went to the store called Microcenter, east coast of the U.S. (I don't know where else it's located) and had a sales rep look over a parts sheet that I had compiled and helped me pick out exactly what I wanted.

Then the store assembled it for me.

I see, thats handy.
Its really a cool way to get people into building their own as the store in Indy at least has tables set up and you can totally build it yourself and ask for help all the way to just standing there watching them build it and any level in between

They are finally opening a Micro Center in Miami Florida. I already built a powerful PC but I always wanted to go to this store. Will be fun.

I was curious so I did a build of the OP's PC on parts picker.

Few hundred dollars cheaper, but one thing folks have to remember about pre-builts is that if/when anything goes wrong then you've got ONE warranty and ONE company to talk to. I prefer building my own because I enjoy it, but there are benefits to pre-builts.
If he/she just wanted a PC for gaming... an AM5 system would probably be a better fit. Something like this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fTk8xH

Cooler quieter, faster for gaming (most games) and closer to $3.5K than 5K and thats without looking at Microcenter, deals or other sales.. I just look at that Corsair prebuilt and its just got some odd choices.. like I don't see why someone needs $470 motherboard for gaming. That case isn't the best, nor its fans. Same for a 14900K, when a 7800X3D exists on a platform that isn't EOL.

Most other prebuilts come in at around 3.5K but with varying components and parts.

Oh....I don't think anyone will disagree that there are much more economical builds out there. Just saying that the one he bought isn't that far off what the individual parts cost and that there are other benefits to pre-built.

Thats really cool. As far as i'm aware we don't have anything like that in the uk. Well not a national chain anyways.

Although you can pick your parts and get a company like PC specialist in the uk to build it for you although thats internet based as far as im aware.

Going into a store an be able to build it there with some advise is fantastic, especially for first timers or kids learning.

Nah. This isn't the year 2000.

Didn't realize a 4090 is limiting your GPU options.

Not all GPUs are going to fit in that case. They said as much in the video. Just a given for ITX. So yeah....that's limiting options. You've got to literally look up the GPU and see if its length is 336mm or less or greater than 3.9 slot. Plenty are not going to work there.

If by house you mean a hole in the ground somewhere north of Alaska you might be right.

I don't know why seeing the promo discount made me laugh but it did... :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Promo Discounts:-$5.00

I think I spent about ~$3K on a HP Omen 30L 3090 few years ago. Felt pretty lucky that micro center had one at the time because graphics card standalone was going for similar at the time.Do have Alienware oled monitor to go along with it. I ended up using both of these items mostly for work.

If somebody wants a new PC with a 4090 it looks like it might actually be cheaper to get a pre-built. I see a few good ones for around $3500.

I've never even seen a Microcenter even though I'm on the East Coast (northeast). I always picture the inside of a CompUSA.

How very wrong that is. Seems like a cool place to do this. I'd make my next desktop there if I had one. Seems better than mail ordering parts. The store is right there for issues or service.

Even though I like doing it myself, I might just have them make it so there is zero potential liability for any setoacks found during the process.

Who am I kidding, I'd use my 20 year old PC case and after one look at it they would say that putting anything in there would void my warranty

If you want to be wrong you can do whatever you want.

You balk at the price of the RTX 4090 I posted... yet turn a blind eye to the inclusion of the 14900K (over a 14900KF), the $120 windows 11 pro key, or any of the other components that you can get for cheaper.

Okay.

Price is $3.5k tops for a comparable build to OP's. Plenty of people in this thread have already posted builds in that general price range. But go ahead and continue defending spending $4k+.
