Digital games existed since many years ago in console. But the percent of game sales that are physical have been increasing and now digital is a big majority and its percentage keeps growing year after year.

And this is not counting F2P games and add-ons revenue. Add-ons represent a huge chunk of the total game revenue and also keeps growing.

And seeing that, companies increase their investment on digital game sales and addons (meaning they go GaaS, or 'platforms' as MS likes to call them).
