Ninja Theory co-founder Tameem Antoniades has left the studio

This is not new. Go check previous studio videos and see when he was last seen. Must’ve left years ago. All I’ve seen for like 4-5 videos is Melina and costume designers and fight choregraphers.
ok, but then what is the implication?

That he left the studio and keep it as a secret for 'weird' reason?

i guess HB2 is going tells us something.

No idea, maybe some sort of fallout between him and MS who knows. The current team has been working without him for a long time, he used to be in every video but go look previous videos, he went poff a long time ago.

Talented game designer? :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Why not? Enslaved is a great game and the fact that he got Alex Garland to write with him is no small feat. And no matter what you think of Hellblade as a game, it is one of a kind audio visual experience that takes its subject seriously with tons of care put into it.

I'd take the money and run as well. I couldn't imagine sticking around given how much money they got to sell to Microsoft.

Hellblade II will come and go and no one, apart from a few reviewers stating how amazing it is, will care.

Never a good sign when a co-founder leaves. With all the red flags we've seen about how Microsoft is mismanaging their studios, I really wonder how Ninja Theory is doing.

Could it be that this separation played a role in the second game not being as loved as the first one? The Hellblade feature video made me think he added a lot to the game, even that he created the game.

I wouldn't be surprised. I'd actually go as far as to say that that was a big reason why I didn't like this game one bit compared to the original.

Yes he was the main creative mind behind the first game, he even surely has made all the big decisions regarding story and direction

It was a mistake to give them DmC but Enslaved and Heavenly Sword back in the day were fun, mid-tier games with great world design and casual gameplay. Hellblade looks to follow that tradition. This guy seems alright.
There's some delicious irony here about preferences of women irl, western game devs, and what they shove down gamers' throats but I can't articulate it...

Too bad he left the studio. Incredibly talented director. Iirc he directed every game Ninja Theory did previous to Hellblade 2, except Bleeding Edge. Maybe he got fed up with video game developing and the fact all of his games underperformed. I remember reading an interview with him where he stated his frustration with Enslaved and Heavenly Sword being commercial flops, leading to NT seeking out a more financially viable project in DmC, which didn't go over well either, with hate and death threats from fans. Shit like that gotta suck.
