PlayStation VR2 |OT| I heard it has a single cable. Is this true?

Tracking was fixed today in a patch. played all day without any tracking problems.
This was a new patch today, or you downloaded the previous patch today? I only ask because I didn’t see this news anywhere. And the previous patch improved tracking, but absolutely did not fix it.

That must be the patch your talking about. I played all day without that strange 2d pop-in happening, I really thought it was fixed.

Is the Light Brigade considered to be a very difficult game? I want to try it but don’t have the time or patience to grind forever like Elden Ring.

Well you didn’t have any issues, so that’s good. The tracking stuff with this games seems pretty weird. Apparently a lot of people have no issues.

Hush now or we’ll have wired controllers again next gen 🤫

I understand what you’re saying but for me it’s simple, 1 cable or 20, it’s still wired.
It’s not the reason I haven’t jumped in yet though, biggest downside for me is the games library, goes for all VR headsets, I just don’t think the software is where it needs to be yet for another hardware investment.
Well yeah I agree, it doesn't matter if it's PCVR or PSVR2, there is a lack of investment in developing more AAA experiences. It's a lot of money on the hardware for sure right now. It really is still very much a luxury item and somewhat still in it's gimmick phase.

The cable makes it a better product. Sorry, but Quest 2 is a complete POS when it's not hooked to a decent PC.

Another 2 hour session of GT7. Certain tracks really show how important looking into your corner is. I can't go back to flat or using the controller now, beyond browsing menus.

Next time I visit my parents I'm going to have my dad play it and see what he thinks. Bought some of his favorite cars for him to try out.

Further experimentation resulted in getting all the way to the "Purchase Media" screen only to be told "Not available in your area" when trying to confirm purchase even with a vpn.
I purchase using a pc, add to media or like, later start the ps5 app and go to “my content”.
There’s free content btw. 10-15 videos, 2min porn vr to try instead of buying. Can’t u go to vr section in fanza , select 無料 download/add them and later check if they show up inside the ps5 app?

Yep, that’s what I tried. I saw the Starry Night sample on the main DMM app. I get all the way to “confirm purchase“ and then I get a region warning. Annoying ad when I look up “login history” it does think I’m in Jp. I guess the final check is wise to vpn shenanigans.

So I literally picked up a psvr 2 today.

Got the star wars demo which was fun.

But I bought job simulator.........but I had no idea you needed 2m x 2m space which I didn't have. So that really sucked.

I had to fuck with the play space to get it to work, but that game clearly wants you to stand in a large area and walk around I guess.

-So what are some MUST buy games for this?

Specially, NOT requiring lots of space to move around, and ideally, sitting would be nice. The star wars game worked ok sitting.

I can stand, but I don't want to play all day standing lol.

-And in the future, how can I tell which games need space to play before I buy them?

RE8 and GT7 are by far the most immersive (I'd argue they're pretty much required purchases for new to VR players - even if you hate horror, I'm a wimp - I'm a few hours in RE8 and doing ok in shorter sessions - the castle is constantly amazing me with the detail in the rooms and courtyard/etc).

Moss Book 1 & 2 are also really well done. Synth Riders Experiences (DLC) are highly recommended (gives some their defining VR moment). Tetris Effect/Thumper both good ports to VR. Rez Infinite highly recommended. Puzzling Places (if you want a chill game), Demeo is supposed to be quite fun, Townsmen is a pseudo Populous type game.

Upcoming Switchback, Saints and Sinners, Walkabout Mini Golf, and RE4 VR.

Pretty sure Job Simulator is getting patch to fixed that room scale requirement. I believe you can just zap yourself a roomscale sized room through objects and can play normally without moving - might want to try that and see if it works. I have a circular mat to let me know if I'm walking too far, so I don't really need the warnings so my roomscale goes through tables and couches etc. But the store pages do list the play methods available for a game (sitting/standing and room scale).

I find some games work better standing and some sitting - so if you want to do a longer VR sessions mixing a standing and sitting one is probably best over a super long session in a standing game. RE8 is standing for me because accessing the weapons works way better and moving your head/body and aiming helps a lot too. Synth Riders would obviously be standing. Stuff like GT7 is better sitting. Moss is sitting, and Puzzling Places as well. So there's enough choices for mixing the standing and sitting games together I feel.

I've mentioned this before already but when I bought my Quest 2 and was playing native games and apps it was ok. As soon as I built my new PC and started using it for PCVR, especially playing Alyx on high fidelity settings, it was a complete game changer. I will never use my Quest 2 natively again unless I decide to take it away with me somewhere but most likely never will.

Lol I don’t agree, Moss 1 and 2 has given me some of my most impactful gaming experiences ever and I played those natively on Quest 2. And if you’ve never tried free movement VR in an empty bigger area you’ll never understand why wireless VR is where VR needs to go. Even just playing something like Superhot or Eleven wireless takes VR to another level imo.

Plus, Quest 2 connected wirelessly to PC is awesome, that’s how I’ve done 95% of my PCVR gaming, using a cable gives a better image but for me it’s good enough wireless. Maybe a higher res headset would make me change my mind, easier to see the image quality downgrades, but as it is I just don’t bother using the cable.

That is strange for job sim to have that requirement. Most games are either going to work fine sitting or you can make work sitting. Not all, but most.

Like you might not be able to make pavlov work, for instance. You need to duck and be reaching over walls and stuff. But nms, resident evil, horizon, etc you can play sitting. I've grown to like standing more, but I used to do like 80% sitting. Now more like 50/50. Watch out for games that look especially physical like a racquetball game or whatever and ask about those before buying.

If you have GT7, give that a shot.

Well yeah I agree, it doesn't matter if it's PCVR or PSVR2, there is a lack of investment in developing more AAA experiences. It's a lot of money on the hardware for sure right now. It really is still very much a luxury item and somewhat still in it's gimmick phase.
It sad to read this kind of take. I'm just curious what kind of experience you need? It just seems like it's more about the excuses than the experience with this kind of attitude.

Your last sentence basically describes every piece of gaming equipment ever made. Gaming is a luxury experience, and there will always be gimmicks.

It's because AAA game studios are cowards nowadays. They're not interested in pushing forward the medium anymore, they just want safe money.

They're the reason the game industry has stagnated so much since ablut 2008. The only innovations have been battle Rosales, which are played out, and vr.

I've been playing the hell out of my psvr2. I'm at the point where I only want to play vr games

Is this a joke question? How much VR have you played? Play Half Life Alyx on a high-end PC on Ultra Settings and tell me what other games give you a similar immersive experience and that will answer your question.

It’s no different than what’s going on with Xbox. There are tons of smaller titles popping up on Gamepass all the time but if there are no big AAA system sellers people won’t see the need to invest in a new console.

AAA devs are sitting on the fence on VR. It’s extremely frustrating imo since I like VR and has already gone through the honeymoon phase and is tired of just playing smaller VR titles.

A game like Alyx is a unicorn. It wasn't a joke question but probably shows that you won't be happy for quite some time if not ever with VR.

Not sure I agree with the Xbox analogy. GamePass you can get on PC and Xbox One and probably experience most of what is on offer. Not the right topic for that bit of discussion, though.

I guess I'm not as jaded. I played a lot of the VR landscape on PSVR and the Quest headsets. I haven't even touched most of the titles I grabbed for launch as I've been rotating GT7 and RE8 with some puzzling places and kayak for relaxation.

Then again I'm not the one they need to sell as I'm already there. GT7 at launch had me sold.

I just got through playing the first level on Thumper on PSVR2. And JESUS CHRIST is this game great! I played through the first 6 levels on PSVR, but the OLED screen, less screendoor effect, and better HDR on this headset makes it look better. And with the PS over the ear headphones.......oh boy that bass be thumping.

I swear this game is a must-play VR game. It's a grundy rhythm game that makes the heart pound at 150 beats per second.

I'd like to try thumper. Or anything else aside from gran turismo. But that's not how the world works. Instead I keep playing gran turismo. I was there day one for the game and I put some good time in. It was great. But I knew it would work with psvr2 one day so that made it easy to put away after playing a good 40 hours. And now it's here and it's one of the best games I've ever played. I could play this all day.

I had to force myself to stop playing GT7. Because I can easily do 100 hours in it this year, I'll play it in 10 hour increments and then move to another game.

That’s not true. There are some really good games on standalone. Resident evil 4 is absolutely awesome and so is the quest 2 version of Saints and Sinners. I could go on listing a bunch of games I’ve really enjoyed on standalone. I’ve used it for pcvr as well and own a psvr 2. It’s not necessary to crap on one product in order to praise another.

Recommend Pavlov

I intended too play sooo many VR games in a short span of time during launch, and bought a bunch of them.
But I have just fallen into only playing Pavlov every time I boot up my PSVR2

Its both goofy and satasfying.

Even though Walking Dead isn't triple A, it is regarded as simply one of the best VR titles ever. I briefly tried the first title at my brother and I absolutely loved it, so I'm looking forward Walking Dead 1 and 2. Switchback also seems really great and scary lol.
However, hopefully Sony is getting ready to reveal a large number of AAA VR titles, hybrid or not. Like some people pointed out, we need someone to support bigger titles on VR and push the medium forward. Sony might be one of the big to do it if they indeed implement the hybrid strategy.

It's designed to play standing but you can play sitting with some tweaking, I play sitting most of the time.

You have to lower your guardian floor to around 2 feet below your IRL floor, then the game thinks your standing. Downside is, if you drop your gun then you can't pick it up. Plenty of options though as you can use your knife until you respawn then you can get a fresh gun in DM and TDM.

It never bothers me if I drop my gun, I just go full on psycho with my knife and charge at people. If I get a kill great, if not I respawn with a new gun.

Really want to give it a try but after being kinda let down by the Quest 2 even though it was an improvement on my RIFT, I'm not sure I'm ready to test it for 599€ even though "bigger games" like Horizon are appealing !

I don't need to be convinced of the huge benefits of playing in VR, I've been quiet amazed by some games and experience but I'm always very sick, and the image quality on the Quest 2 is disappointing in my opinion.

I just don't want to ruin my enthousiasm for VR and I'm just waiting for the occasion to be pleasantly surprised and I think that PSVR2 might be a good occasion but not so sure for now.

Anyway, it's a pleasure to see such enthusiasm on this thread as VR really deserves it !

From what I've read on the Quest 2, this definitely won't have the compression issues in blacks/gray that does wireless, but the gray does have visible mura. Blacks are amazing though, and overall it delivers a solid 1080p big screen looking appearance that has a lot of room for improvement, but as a second gen piece of tech in an emerging market, it's pretty great, just far from perfect in a lot of ways. It really does make you forget you're in your room very quick though with the excellent light blocking and the controls are a pleasure to use, and the product performs without any hitches for me.

I don't foresee myself taking the PSVR2 out of rotation until I've exhausted all the games I want to play on it, which will take years and years as long as new ones continue to release. It feels like I've discovered a whole new way to game, and has me more interested than a new generation of consoles ever did.

for those that played the PS VR on ps4 and pro is the pro a big jump? would the ps5 pro improve vr even more
It was incremental at best from what I remember, few more frames here and there. Nothing worth mentioning tbh.

let's see if the PS5 changes that, the cpu in the ps4 was very limiting even with the better gpu it was hard to get more frames
maybe the ps5 will improve both and have better graphics options without losing frames
