Really Annoying sections of games That Almost Made You Say F It?

I loathe thinking about the burning Museum dungeon in Persona 2 (IS and EP). If you know, you know... It's one of my favorite games, both. But I despise that part.

Bayonetta 1, too many moments to mention just one. Even though it is on my top 3 favorite games.

And story related, Final Fantasy 8 made me drop it and delete it, right after the space section on Disc 3.
I could not handle how fucking deep that nose dive was. In terms of writing (Which wasn't that great to begin with), characters (Rinoa, went from a charming, funny character, with a unique motivation, to a character that makes Rosa from FF 4 look complex and interesting by comparison. Squall, don't even get me started. I preferred him as a quiet emo, then a loud emo), and story (Everything happening besides Squall and Rinoa, was INFINITELY more interesting, but the game decided to focus on those two instead...)
Before that point FF 8 was going to be one of my favorite games. I love the gameplay, the Junction system, Triple Triad, Hunting, the world, and Selphie/Irvine was the one couple I wanted to see explored, because they are actually cool and charismatic, in my opinion.

But... Ugh.

What about you, man?

Pokemon Shield/Violet - the entire game

Far cry 5 - Forced capture player sections, forced story "time trial challenges"

Monster Hunter World - stopping everytime to sharp your weapon, sheat your weapon to drink a potion, aggressive monsters leaving you stun everytime

almost every slow walking scene in God of War 2018 and Ragnarok...
mediocre games even without those, but each one was another endurance test. especially in Ragnarök, where one of them is (no joke) 10min in length... what a dogshit gamedesign philosophy this Barlog guy has, he's a fucking joke.

The ironwood part is the reason I probably won't ever replay Ragnarok.

Also "this game has super fast loading times" but everytime you're travelling somewhere you have to walk on top of a tree branch until a portal appears lol. I'd rather a loading screen, tyvm.

the fact that they basically made a whole slow walking mini-level just so they can throw in even more exposition while saving money is hilarious to a degree.

because even on PS4 there's no way it loads as long as some of those conversations last

Almost every scene in FFVII remake. And no - I don't mean because of the story changes - I mean because when you take the playmobil, text based game and make it realistic graphics with anime grunts the world falls apart.

Stand anywhere in the market or anywhere with NPCs and try this:

Halo infinite. 3 bad open world levels an then 5 hours of terrible "fight big monke" tunnels. But I prevailed.... and it was still not worth it lol.
Far cry 3 - oh... a 2nd map? nope. I uninstalled the game
Atomic Heart - You finally made it out after few hours of boring, underground generator fetch quests... only to find yourself on the surface with constant alarms and terrible melee combat. nope.

Those are the two moments that come to mind when I think of video game sections that made me want to quit gaming forever.

Come to think of it, pretty much any game that featured an escort quest where the NPC that you were escorting was incredibly dumb and died very quickly made me hope that the person who programmed that shit had a really bad Thanksgiving dinner that year.

Also, honorable mention goes to this:

I legit died 147 times on that boss fight, and I know this because the game very generously informed me about this at the end. Ridiculous, considering that the rest of the game is almost trivial in comparison.

The end of the Trans-Siberian railway mission in Man vs Wild the Videogame. You can to balance on top of the horse and jump off onto the train and it wouldn't even let me attempt to balance. It would just throw me off and cause me to fail. I tried like 15 times in a row to no avail. And I did say F it! I never played it again!

The Last of Us Part II most definitely had a few. Every time I thought the game was going to end it just somehow kept adding more shit to itself to keep on going. Last few hours were a struggle to say the least.
100% this, enjoyed the game but that extra ending made me go FFS.

Any type of dream/drug-induced sequence. Trying to find a way through some murky dream with someone laughing or crying in the background. I fucking HATE that shit. Great examples:

Batman arkham whatever with scarecrow sequence. Fucking stupid. It always interrupts the story and takes away all powers. It's bullshit.

Max Payne baby-cry-follow-red-line-in-dark sequence. Eat shit and die! No one wants to do that and try to guess which way you go while some baby screams at you.

Sadly I can't think of any others at the moment but they're countless. It's just a bullshit sequence which can completely be left out. If scarecrow can Gas batman why doesn't he just kill him? Stupid.

Dream/drug induced sequences can go forever.

Oh and lazy developing and story telling is a solid argument if you want to use that as well.

Enemy waves.

Thers one especially bad in Watch Dogs Legion that keeps spawning an infinite number of enemies at you inside a bunker. The way to progress is by moving towards the enemies as you keep killing them untill your out of the bunker, if you stay in place behind a cover without moving, then you can stay there forever killing enemies.

Just now did a mission on Far Cry 6 that also had a huge amount of enemies coming at you while you wait for a door to open. Your only objective is to stay in a small area close to the door keeping killing waves and waves of enemies for about 20 minutes, while you wait for the game to say, ok the door behind you is open. At least it was not an infinite spawn of enemies, just a very large amount of enemies coming in multiple waves.

This mechanic goes against my playstyle that i enjoy in open world shooting games, where i like to look for vantage points in the map, scout the area and kill most of the ppl with silenced weapons without they even raising the alarm.

At the end of Half Life when it for some fucked up reason suddenly turned into a 3D platformer.

Interloper in the Black Mesa remake was also terrible and nearly made me stop playing. I only powered through because I knew I was near the end. It's ironic considering the remake was originally intended to fix the shitty Xen section, which started out wonderfully but became a complete drag.

Breath of Fire 3. Desert

I have restarted Bof 3 numerous times and always stop there. That's the end of the game in my eyes. That's the ending. Ryu and party die there.

Callisto, part that I'm stuck in. The combat is great so far against 1 to 2 enemies at a time but the part I'm in has like 5 or more of the bastards coming at me and it feels broken...impossible to beat as of now

Really? I remember beating that shit on hard no problem. The trick is to hang back as far as you can and snipe his butt.
If I recall correctly, that's what I ended up doing. The solution did not immediately jump out at me and I found myself frustrated. I can't name a specific reason why I found the battle so obtuse, but I do remember telling myself that I would never play it again.

The ship in REVII grinds the pacing to a halt. I hate it.

The Kinshasa mission from Splinter Cell: Double Agent, version 1. Ghosting it is a pain in the ass.

The best mission in COD 4 is followed up by the worst mission in COD 4: escaping Prypiat. The last stand at the ferris wheel is tedious as fuck, especially on Veteran.

The Boost Ball boss in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes on the GameCube (fixed in the Trilogy) made me wanna rip my hair out.

Yeah, in all honesty the most annoying part of that fight were the waves of regular enemies that came at you in between phases. I really hate boss fights that do something like that. Hanging back was helpful in avoiding that huge AOE attack that he did at the end of each phase.

I hate timed events like the first stage in Super Metroid or to get to the last boss in Oot. Not that they are that hard, just make me nervous

I will say a blasphemous game here... DMC 5.
I quit the game after 3-4 hours. I couldn't stand playing as V. I get it, he controls animals... but I really disliked him and the style. it's a dmc game... how hard is it to understand that we want to paly as Dante?!
Nero also barely makes any sense. We already have a cool, strong guy... IT'S DANTE.
Just make a game to be played as 1 character from start to finish and allow to play as other characters after you finish it.

In dmc4, Nero was already a solution to a problem that they created. "we wanted to made dante an antagonist, so let's create Dante2"... And I Kinda liked dmc4 still. I finished it in 1 sitting. Sure, i never played it again but I enjoyed it.
One more thing about 5 - Nico is the worst. I can't stand her after some cutscenes. The music is also crap. It's this "lame on purpose" style. DMC3 was just cool. It is still just cool. DMC4 had some interesting tracks and A STYLE. 5 music is like a bad millenial music video.

Should I try 5 again? Should I give it another fair chance?

MH World - I won't even look at these games again. I got about midway and I just couldn't do it anymore. I find the game incredibly boring and frustrating. I've watched guides galore and every single time I played with people that like these games, they'd kill a monster in 5-10 minutes while my guy does 2 damage.

The Silent Realms in Skyward Sword.

One of the "optional" (100% or bust) arenas in Doom 2016 where you need to complete a challenge to get a glyph or somesuch made me ragequit and rage-uninstall the game, with how unfair it felt. After a good night's sleep I reinstalled it quickly (viva optic fiber) and completed it on my first try... guess I shouldn't be playing till 3am.
