Wheres the NPD thread?
Why would he apologize? Its his job to try to predict the market. Does the weatherman apologize every time it rains when he/she says it won't?
I can't imagine what would have happend if Destiny got around 90 metacritc...
Sonys co-marketing deal for Destiny helped the PlayStation 4, but Microsoft had some good luck with its own free-game promotion as well.
Consumers spent $1.1 billion on new physical games and consoles at U.S. retailers during the five-week period from Aug. 31 to Oct. 4. That is up 2 percent from $1.08 billion over a similar period in 2013. The year-long trend of new-console sales making up for lackluster software continued once again.
Hardware sales generated $432.7 million in revenue at retail in the U.S. That is up 136 percent from last Septembers $183.4 million. Gamers also spent more than twice as much on buying new consoles compared to August. Thats likely thanks to the release of publisher Activisions massively successful sci-fi shooter Destiny.
As well as Destiny might have sold, it wasnt enough to match last years gigantic September. Consumers only spent $481.2 million on new games at retail, which is down 36 percent from $754 million in September last year.
Do u apologize when you make false predictions?
Over 1,200,500 footballs have been thrown in Madden 2015!
Man the Ps4 is going to be insane this holiday season. Has a console ever done 15 million year 1?

Sony has issued a statement on its performance for the month of September in advance of this evenings NPD report. The publisher says that Activisions Destiny broke PlayStation Store sales records for first day, first week, and pre-orders.
PlayStation 4 also won the month in the United States. The publisher says that it sold three times as many consoles, including bundles, over August 2014.
Sony says that revenue for the PlayStation Store is up 90 percent over September 2013

Hey, maybe some of those peeps picked up Vitas on the way out and it bumped the HW numbers! Rising tides and allPS4 number is crazy.
Nothing. It sold purely on hype, first 2-3 week buyers don't give a shit about the reviews. But bad word of mouth and bad reviews are going to hurt long term. So game will not have leg after couple of months and if things don't change then they will have hard time selling the DLC. So if the reviews were 90+, it would have continued to sell well beyond September.
Coming, coming, one sec.

I feel like it sold more PS4 consoles as a multiplat over exclusive. The hype reached unreal levels. It would have been heavily scrutinized otherwise.360 (Halo 3 release Sept. 2007) : 527.8k
PS4 (Destiny release 2014) : 550k?
Hopefully more people understand that a game does not have to be exclusive to be a system seller.

I wonder what the situation would've been like if it was MS that had the Destiny deal...

Man. Everything did better than I expected. Great news; love it after all of the "consoles are doomed talk".
The only bad thing is that it messed up my predictions (heh).
Disagree you can see that in UK charts as how Destiny has fallen.
No but I don't get paid for my predictions and my Twitter comments getting quoted from Nasdaq

My god how is this even possible with that marketing deal that went into overdrive?

So, is PS4 selling Wii levels, PS2 levels?
Is the thirst real?
Bundle software sales aren't included.
Well that's my prediction of the Xbox One winning shot out into outer space lol. I think I just put too much faith in Pachter. Not only was he was incorrect he was massively incorrect. His numbers weren't even in the same ballpark. Good for Sony! So glad that they're doing well. This is what happens when you laser focus your console on gamers and build a powerful and brilliant machine. They deserve all of the success they're having.
Also ~550K sold for the month is insane. Ridiculously high sales.

A lot of people bought that bundle and I suspect that might have had an effect. Does that mean it would have outsold the Xbone version? No idea.My god how is this even possible with that marketing deal that went into overdrive?

Shame that it did not chart regardless as the game is sensational.
Not only that, but I think the free game with XB1 deal might have counted toward software sales since it wasn't an official bundle.
LMAO
It was one week free Destiny, no?! Think Pachter praised that.
