Square Enix Celebrates As Octopath Traveler II Ships 1 Million Units

Lower budget for the game means lower sales needed for profitability

But don’t let basic intelligence stop you from your poor attempt at a “joke”

I remember Tomb Raider selling 6 million was a disappointment to them.

It was released in 2013 on PS3 hardware so budget must've been similar to OT2. Maybe 10 million more at max.

The three best characters in the game right here.

Honestly I think the next game might do better if they drop the whole separate storyline thing. Doing 8 intros for the characters was a bit of a slog, but the game really picked up after that for me.
Yes, lets drop the one thing that makes Octopath Traveler stand apart.

the first game got there in under 2 months on just the switch, so slower, but fortunately, it's not hopelessly behind the first game

It has been estimated with figures from Eidos' personnel that it roughly takes 2million copies per year of development for them to break even.
