It's about the only attention of detail the new series has shown thus far.

If Lucas was really smart, the film stock should look a bit shitty, to help tie it to the "look" of the next episodes. To be honest, I think it would cool and give it a nice little psychological tinge.

But then Episode III would look shitty compared to the OT DVDs. The OT DVDs look sharper and cleaner than the original theatrical prints. That's when you get then Lowry Digital goes in and cleans 10 million pieces of dirt from the negatives.

Hey Mana,

Knowing you to be the huge SW fan you are, are you contributing to the IGN-DVD review of the original trilogy, or is Andy taking care of it?

WHO DEY!?
This pic is almost certainly the birth of vader scene. Emperor's hood in the forground, and Vader's hand is shackled.

That's going to be a great scene. Very nice concept art. I think one of my favorite parts of these prequels is buying the art books and looking at all the designs that weren't selected or used.

The very fact that the camera is unbelievably unsteady indicates that it's neither 'real' footage or an animatic. Combine that with the knowledge that the Kashyyyk battle takes place among a village/town/city in giant trees and a neighboring beach/oceanfront, along with the absolutely ridiculous looking animation on those troopers... and this thing isn't remotely connected to the film.

AICN is reaching new lows at a rapid pace.

That seems to make the most sense seeing as how as how the CGi was still a bit rough (placeholder forest) .

As for the shaky cam, wasn't that the person filming?

Did you not watch AOTC at all? Lucas loves using 'shakycam' effects on 100% CGI shots. Makes it looks somewhat "real". I dig the effect.

But this looks like shit, fake or animatic.

There wasn't any camerawork done even close to this style in AotC. There were some shaky shots, but this thing looks like they gave a camera to an old man with terrible arthritis and a bad hip and told him to run and point. This looks like nothing we've seen in any of the Star Wars films. It's very different.

This has to be for one of the video games.

that could be the opening to starwars Battlefront.

Maybe not. Battlefront uses the Episode II Clonetroopers. Those in the video look like the Revenge of the Sith Clone/Stormtrooper hybrids. It's probably an early animatic from ROTS.

Hang out with Steve.
Even if it is real, this is a movie that's not coming out for another 9 months. To complain about a short, low-quality loop of footage that early is ridiculous.

Almost 100% sure it is an animatic or WIP effects shot. The frame is also 4:3 as opposed top 2.35:1 so the reasoning that it may be a game opening is pretty sound too. Whatever it is, it is no where near finished.
