Stellar Blade devs on why the protagonist is sexy: "That's what players want most of the time"

I have no issue with this, but most of the hype around this game is because of the character model.

Does anyone have a link to any gameplay previews - because if the combat / gameplay mechanics don't cut it, making a good character model isn't going to be enough.

Statistics show that people would rather play as a super hot bootylicious busty hot ninja girl then any ugly thing that looks like it contracted a disease and came out of your toilet.

Only reason there is backlash against the "pretty people" is mainly because the people crying about it are insecure about themselves but it's far easier to blame others then to strive to make changes for oneself.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but there was a pretty extensive gameplay preview in the recent state of play. To be fair, it does look pretty solid.

One of these games takes itself seriously, and I can take it seriously. The other wants you to get horny while playing. If thats the goal, bravo - Not for me. I find it corny. Thats all

There's many people here becoming super passive-aggressive when someone says that he doesnt like fan service.

But you're definitely not alone, I know a lot of people that finds this game distracting or disgusting, myself included, beyond the virtues of the devs of being honest and straighforward.

But here on the internet, we have to take one side, either we are woke, or we have to like fan-service by obligation.

I mean, we're playing with the cards dealt. It's the fact that the people who don't like it aren't stopping at disliking it, they are actively infiltrating companies and preventing those that DO enjoy it from having anything to consume, at least on a mid to high budget.

Erasure and censoring of an idea goes beyond "it ain't it for me,"

There isn't a problem with you not liking it. It's when you start telling other people that they shouldn't like it. For instance, comments like "people only like this game because of the sexy designs". Okay, and? If true, what's it to you? Why do they have to qualify to anyone or meet someone else metric of what should earn a purchase or their attention. It's just subtle attempts at shaming and people/men are tired of that shit.

There's always people in the middle ground, and those people dont participate in the cancel culture.

The problem is that they're also quiet. On the media you only hear the discussion between already polarized people.

I would say, that a lot of people that says that, says it in response to other people trying to deny it, which I've seen many and I disagree.

Anyways, if not, of course there's nothing wrong with liking fan service.

This is a quote from you in the thread about the feminist getting fired from ShiftUp. This was a Straw Man.

It takes a decade for dev to understand this, human evolution truly takes time. Especially western ones, they are particularly dumb.

It’s a bit disingenuous to say that only one side is engaging in cancel culture when you look at the death threats that were hurled at Naughty Dog and the actress who plays Abby (not to mention any other movie or game that someone labels as “woke” at this point). We have entire threads around here where dudes need to see how someone looks before they can decide on what they think about a game. It’s the dumbest timeline imaginable.

I get it. Shes hot. And I like the honesty.

But to me its fucking stupid.

I cant take your game seriously when some 5'2 hot as fuck girl in heels and a mini skirt is beating up giant alien monsters. Takes me right out of it. And makes the game seem dumb.

Its why I cant get into the whole anime action style games. Way too much of that corny shit.
A hot girl in heels and a mini skirt is more realistic than giant alien monsters, but of course it’s the hot girl that takes you right out of it. 🙄

In the end it’s a game. What can you play if you seek realism? Farming Simulator?

Imagine a Japanese racing game where the player drives a Lamborghini. Then the game is localized and the Lamborghini is visually replaced with a Ford Escort, simply due to "western sensibilities". Now imagine that an entire organization is founded with the stated goal of replacing all sports cars in games with "normal" cars. Amidst a sea of games featuring Toyota Corolllas, it seems clear that a game promoting a Porsche 911 would be actively celebrated.

That was not a comment of taking itself seriously. It was comment of not being able to apply suspense of disbelief for certain type of games. And it seems to be based on subjective criteria (because it seems "fanservicy?).

And to be fair we don't even know the tone of actual game. Only add campaign for the game may be centered around "horny", while game may explore some serious themes, while still having fanservice in it. Nier did show that it's possible.

Yes, its the same logic. Its the fiction that whatever the game says it is, somehow changes what it is your are looking at (or the perception of what its trying to invoke). To be clear, I'm not in any way insinuating or suggesting anything about pedophilia.

I mean, sure. There are lunatics on both sides, which really says nothing for or against either side. People are so focused on the micro. If you take any hobby that involves people, over a long enough time frame, you're going to find murderers, thiefs and rapists among your peers. The people weaponizing these instances and trying to say it's a representation of the majority who engage in or think x or y are culpable for this issue.

Granted, I err to the side of "go grab your balls," to people in a billion dollar industry who feel threatened enough by Pu$$yRecker69 saying they're going to kill you on Twitter to have teary eyed interviews about it.

Like...these people would have physically wilted had they been exposed to the internet of 2000. I only feel threatened if it's coming from A. Someone who knows my name
B. Someone who knows my address
C. Someone who knows me in real life

Barring those three circumstances, I assume everything else is shitposting. I Can't scientifically verify my findings, but I definitely haven't been killed by an internet troll to date.

It is not and you absolutely are insinuating about pedophilia with the 10,000 year old dragon comment, it's the only reference you can make that links to weebs rubbing one in to what looks like a kid. It's been meme'd to death with the likes "Akshually she's a 999 years old dragon loli in a body of a 9 years old kid so it's lega!" type of shit. Don't even try to make it about anything else. Do you think we're stupid or something? It can only refer to this.

Do you really believe in a future android/robot that is not a fucking sexy woman? It will be the first goddamn business case. Sex robots.
It's Blade Runner, Ex Machina, Westworld, Ghost in the Shell

No they won't make this, will they?

Not true, gaming journalist and 60 yo investors who never touched games have told us for years players actually want middle-aged ladies with flat asses, uncanny expressions and weird haircuts.
Aka the Starfield and Spider-Man 2 focus groups! 😉

Edit: And yes, second wanting Steam release.
