I currently have a Xbox One X and now a Series X.

What are some your favorite Xbox Series next gen only games so far this gen?

I've got some time off of work and looking to try out some great games.

What games released this gen have you had great experience with that just isn't offered on the One X?

When i was a console peasant i found Gears of War 5 hivebusters optimised for Series X pretty impressive. I know it's on One X as well, but there aren't too many current gen only games that i could recommend.

Next Gen only games… There aren’t many, and the ones I played so far, I cannot strongly recommend. 🥲

But, we can still rely on cross gen, backwards compatible titles and etc.

Having that in mind, here are my recommendations:

9: Immortals Fenyx Rising (Great performance mode visuals and gameplay on XSX. The story elements are extremely meh, but the game itself is fun).

Hmm yeah I've played most of those years ago, I was just looking for experiences that are only offered on the Series X, I've had a One X for awhile now.

I'm kinda starting to think Starfield might be the first real Series X game worth getting?

Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Gears 5 Hivebusters

Scorn, but I played that on PC

No idea what’s available on One X since I dropped that at the Series launch.

Starfield will be the next big one for me, but I’ll play that on PC so it’s a bad pick perhaps.

In general the platform has been lackluster on games output. I play lots of games on Gamepass but haven’t stumbled upon many favorites. It’s definitely a quantity over quality situation there, but that can be fun too.

I know you’re talking about newer games, but I would recommend taking advantage of Backwards Compatibility as well. There’s a good chunk of games that are basically remastered for free. For example Assassin’s Creed 1, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Ninja Gaiden 2 are all 4K/60fps.

Also the Campaign for Halo Infinite was pretty good gameplay wise. There’s also Forza if you’re a car guy.

If you missed Xbox One generation: Forza Horizon 3. The best in the series.

If you don't have a PC: Age of Empires II.

Not much in terms next-gent Xbox console exclusive games.

There are basically zero, right? If you haven't played Hitman 3 I'd recommend that, it's super smooth on Series X and just happens to be the greatest game ever made.

Plague Tale Requiem, Deathloop, Dead Space Remake, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and Flight Simulator. Q4 2023 and 2024 should be much better, and finally games which push more the XSX.

Goat Simulator 3 is Xbox Series-only as I found out last year when I purchased it for the intent of my children playing it on my Xbox One X in another room. Since they can't, they play it on my Xbox Series X in my room, heh. They love the game but I've not spent any serious time with it to comment.

As others have said, use your Series X to play improved versions of already released titles.

This is a great list I would just add Hi-Fi Rush. It's a great game if you have more rhythm than I do. I also really like Grounded. But I believe it's Series S/X and XB1.

If you've played Plague Tale Innocence, give Plague Tale Requiem a shot. It's amazing and has a very good 40hz quality mode to boot (if you have an appropriate display).

Also, you can go to the game pass counter website and use the Optimized for Series filter to find some games that have current gen versions, even if they're not exclusive to the current gen.

I loved A Plagued Tale Requiem and Ghostwire Tokyo. Hi-Rush is good, I just prefer a more serious tone but it has solid gameplay.

That's kind of what I'm gathering here,
Flight Sim, HiFi Rush and I guess Redfall are it as far as experiences that aren't available on my One X.

I'm not a Flight Sim guy at all, but I'm checking out HiFi Rush today,

Bolded a couple you should check out if you have a Gamepass subscription.

Yes, you absolutely need to try MS Flight Simulator! Just fly over your house and your home city and maybe your friends house and your workplace or summer place and fly under a bridge in your city, and take some screenshots and show friends. It’s bizarre and barely a game and super slow but totally worth it. I was close to buy a flight stick just for this game. It’s even crazier in VR but then you need a PC.

You should check out some of your old favorites as well, there are some cool fps boost games now that runs at 60fps on Series X.

And don’t miss The Ascent, it’s superb on Series X.

Get Game Pass, play Psychonauts 2, Halo Infinite, Atomic Heart, High on Life, Both A Plague Tale games.

Play Metro Exodus it looks fantastic with the "next gen" upgrade, and it's an awesome game.

Edit: one more great game is Vampyr, it got a 60fps and 1440p upgrade and it looks and plays great on PS5 so i assume it's the same on SX. Prey is also very good and with FPS Boost its also 1440p/60fps.

Have you tried fallout 4 and Skyrim? On series X they get boosted to 60 fps. And with sad speed, loading tiles are short.

If you haven’t tried them, download the games, install some popular mods and enjoy. It’s like playing anew game compared to sluggish playing games on One X or Xbox one.

Yeeea no, I'm not playing Skyrim or Fallout 4 in 2023 lol

Now I'm kinda thinking my next Series X purchase will be Starfield. I'm going through the Xbox Store on the dashboard skipping through games I've missed out since the Series X launched...nothing is really standing out to me
