The rematch is once again official.

Jon Jones will fight Daniel Cormier in a light heavyweight unification title bout at UFC 200, as first reported during a telecast of Good Morning America on Wednesday. The fight will headline the July 9th card in Las Vegas, at the brand new T-Mobile Arena.

"UFC 200 has been, uh, interesting to say the least, putting this thing together," UFC president Dana White said on the show. "There's been some crazy things that have gone on. Some ups and downs. Jon Jones just fought on Saturday night and won his fight against OSP. He's been out for 15 months, and now he's back, and he wants his light heavyweight UFC title back. So the main event will be Daniel Cormier versus Jon Jones."

Jones was originally slated to face Cormier at UFC 197 this past Saturday, yet the current 205-pound champion had to withdraw due to an injury. He was replaced by Ovince Saint Preux, who lost a unanimous decision to Jones. The fight was contested for an interim title.

The Jones-Cormier rematch had been rumored for the big UFC 200 card, yet Jones was nursing a sore foot after his fight with Saint Preux. Though he has yet to have an x-ray taken, he tweeted out on Tuesday evening that he was walking around and the foot was fine.

"I just want to get back to my original plan and dominate Daniel Cormier again," said Jones on the show.

The bad blood between Cormier and Jones extends back to UFC 178, where the two were booked to meet for Jones' light heavyweight title. During a press conference for the fight, the two engaged in a brawl. Jones had to pull out of the fight with a leg injury, but they finally met at UFC 182 in early-2015.

Jones won the first fight via unanimous decision.

He was stripped of his title just a few months later after a hit-and-run incident in Albuquerque. Before then Jones had eight title defenses. In his absence Cormier defeated Anthony Johnson for the vacant belt at UFC 187, and later defended it against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 192 in Houston.

UFC 200 will feature a women's bantamweight title fight between Miesha Tate and Amanda Nunes, as well as an interim featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar.

The latest UFC 200 card includes:

Daniel Cormier (c) vs. interim champ Jon Jones – Light-Heavyweight Title-unification bout

Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar – for interim Featherweight Title

Miesha Tate (c) vs. Amanda Nunes – for Women’s Bantamweight Title

Travis Browne vs. Cain Velasquez

Kelvin Gastelum vs. Johny Hendricks

Derek Brunson vs. Gegard Mousasi

Joe Lauzon vs. Diego Sanchez

Enrique Marin vs. Sage Northcutt

Takanori Gomi vs. Jim Miller

Julianna Pena vs. Cat Zingano

Great card with 3 Title Fights. Like honestly the card is fantastic.

That said in terms of PPV buys no McGregor is a huge hit.

This replacement works. Ready to jump back on the Bones train. Wasnt really looking forward to seeing Mcgregor getting his ass beat again.

For me it is.

It is for me. I have no interest in the match you suggest.

Their first fight was an absolute bore. And Jones just got done beating OSP in another stinker. If this fight is good, I'll be shocked. Whereas McGregor/Diaz was entertaining as fuck.

Can't wait to see Bones make Cormier's punk, paper champ ass cry again.

I'd cry if I lost a terrible boring-ass fight like that one, too.

It's not Johnny's fault he's on another level from the competition.

Definite upgrade over Diaz/McGregor. Better match up with a deeper beef behind it.

Plus it will probably be good for Bones to have a short turnaround.

Can't wait to see Cormier beat Tyrone Biggums back to rehab.

There is literally nothing Cormier does better than Jones. He's smaller, weaker, slower, has worse stand up and Bones even embarrassed him in his bread and butter (wrestling) last time around. Cormier will be so ashamed after this fight he'll probably retire and become a Fox Sports analyst full time.

It's a better fight that actually makes more sense.

It's probably more one sided than Nate/Conor, and has much less fan interest. I, personally, want to see this fight, but it's not at the level of a Conor/Diaz rematch in any way.

This isn't a compelling replacement for Diaz/McGregor, sorry.

It's not bad. It's a title fight with 2 big names, but the odds of Cormier winning are slim to none. At least Conor vs Nate would've been a slugfest even though the odds were against Conor, it would've been fun to watch.

they have announced the main event before JBJ has had the x-ray on his foot that could rule him out of the fight??

love on your sleeve
It's a better main event if you actually enjoy the competition involved. If you want sports entertainment, I hear Matanza Cueto and Mil Muertes just put on a great show.

no real UFC fans want to watch that rematch

so the 2 million people who would have ordered UFC 200 if it were headlined by Conor and Nate are not "real" UFC fans? Is it because they don't buy fight kits or think Bruce Lee is the greatest MMA practitioner of all time?

Circus sideshow aside, Conor/Diaz 1 was more competitive than Cormier/Bones 1. Not hard to see which would have more fan (even UFC fan) interest.

I don't argue the first match. I think it was interesting too. I just don't like the idea of a rematch.

I think Cormier/Jones is fun to watch from a competitive/technical standpoint.

Dana should offer Conor the chance to get back on the card in the co-main spot as "punishment". Conor turns it down, now he looks like an even bigger dick.

I don't disagree. Watching Jones dominate lesser chumps is highly entertaining to me, but I think most people probably would prefer something like Diaz/McGregor.

They are already feeding Miesha random people? Really? Where's Holm 2, Rousey 1000, etc?

When Miesha wins this fight she will get Rousey at the UFC's debut in NYC at Madison Square Garden. Its all but confirmed.

Holm will take a different fight in the meantime and fight the winner of that match

Seems like they will keep doing a rock paper scissors thing with Miesha, Rousey and Holm.

They have all taken turn beating each other so it makes sense. Ronda beat Miesha. Holm beat Ronda. Miesha beat Holm.

Its pretty crazy how competitive the top 3 women are with each other.

This main event is way better than a McGregor/Diaz rematch to me.

I rather see McGregor defend his belt against Edgar or fight Dos Anjos for the Lightweight belt than a meaningless rematch where the outcome may most likely be the same.

McGregor's power is his biggest asset and it very effective against Featherweights because he naturally walks around at 170 rather than the 145 he fights at. If Conor fought primarily at 170 I doubt he would be the big knockout specialist like he is known for.

Seriously Diaz was sitting on his couch getting high and doing nothing and took the McGregor fight on extremely short notice and handled him. What would happen if Diaz has a full camp to actually prepare better?

On the other hand Jones and Cormier legitimately hate each other outside the ring and even though Jones handled OSP he still looked rusty from not fighting for so long.

Hail to the KING baby
This is way more legit than non-title Conor for 200 though I was more excited by Conor. Still think it's funny UFC portraying this as this fierce rivalry or w/e when Jones completely dominated Cormier already (in a snoozefest, sure). Is Jones-Glover a fierce rivalry too?

It's not Johnny's fault he's on another level from the competition.

If he was on another level, why didn't he finish St Preux last weekend, or really get much of anything going? Why didn't he do any significant damage or threaten Cormier with any dangerous subs in their first fight? Jones has turned into a decision machine as he faces better competition. The takeaway from that is, while he is dominant, Jones isn't on another level.

I'm more excited to see Tate defend her title than anything else on that card.

This looks like what I've seen from Jose Aldo fans.

That's true. I really want to know if the first fights were true or just an one time only event though (Rousey vs Holm, Holm vs Miesha). Like Conor vs Aldo.

Press Conference starts in 20 minutes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRhV_LzLhYo

Jones and DC will be there as well as Frankie Edgar, Jose Aldo, Miesha Tate, and Amanda Nunes

And the real question, can Miesha outdo herself from the last UFC 200 Press Conference

There are some female athletes where you're like hmm, well I mean all things considered I suppose she looks good. And then there's Miesha and Paige. Where's the pic of the guy wiping his forehead...

Gonna be same shit as the first fight. But seeing DC get shut down should be fun.

That's actually a hell of a card and I'd take Jones/DC over seeing McGregor again.
