[VG Tech] Microsoft Flight Simulator XSX vs XSS Frame Rate Comparison

From VG Tech:

Microsoft Flight Simulator frame rate test showing the framerate/fps on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

The version tested was 1.18.12.0.

On a Variable Refresh Rate display both consoles can run at a frame rate higher than 30fps. This is difficult to demonstrate though due to capture card limitations and how low framerate compensation works with refresh rate counters on VRR displays.

Xbox Series X renders at a native resolution of 2560x1440 and uses a form of temporal upsampling to reconstruct a 3840x2160 resolution.

Xbox Series S render at a native resolution of 1920x1080.

Texture quality and Level of Detail are noticeably improved on Xbox Series X compared to Xbox Series S.

Dudes are wizards. A total of 3 torn frames across both consoles, series x maintains 30fps 99.3% of the time and Series S maintains 30fps 99.2% of the time. The minimum frame drops are bad, but that clearly isn't indicative of the whole experience.

is it possible to play this game on 60, or does that need a nasa pc?

I suppose you mean 60 fps in 4K over areas with the most complex scenery.. You can relatively easily do it on PC by not running on maxed out settings in 4K.. There's no need to run it like that unless you feel the need to tank your framerate, you can get to 60 fps by reducing the settings a bit and it will still look Ultra-like . For reference; With a 5950x / 3080Ti combination you'll get very close to 60fps (over NY) with everything on max settings in 4K after Sim Update 5.

Looks like fantastic results, the small amount of high frametime moments are probably just asset loading or the like given the scope of the game.
