What, are you listening to?

so it's not nice
Man I don't really find myself listening to much hip-hip because of the obvious neglect of rhythmic sense along the whole genre but I find myself liking this one truly because of the feature.

Now this is rather good. I do love the strange, bendy sounds of the Moog. I've been down a YouTube rabbit hole recently, watching rather dry documentaries about old school synths and some rather stellar documentaries on the emergence and rise of electronic music in the late 70s and 80s. Anyway, the track reminded me a bit of Hot Chip and their style of production, so here's some Hot Chip related goodness. First up, a discordant remix of a low key Tracey Thorn track, Kings Cross. The original is a bit dour and simplistic, but this remix is a bit more challenging and interesting.

In fact, let's have some Hot Chip related goodness in the form of a couple more remixes.

But, of course, Hot Chip are amazing in their own right.

Let's end things with something slightly more minimal and desolate. It's the Super Furry Animals with Some Things Come From Nothing. They always peppered their records with squiggly, warping synth sounds underneath a sheen of immaculately produced guitar pop.

So, yeah, long live the synth.
