Not sure if this has already been asked. But with the 360/PS3 generation, a lot of new online social features were added. The PS4/X1 generation brought in streaming, standby-mode, sharing, offline-updates, share-play, co-pilot, online-music streaming, better multi-tasking, screenshots, recording game footage, etc.. What kind of platform features do you want/expect for the new consoles?
What I want to see
What I want to see
- Picture-in-picture so that you can overlay help videos, a netflix video or whatever while you are trying to grind out those trophies, or to catch up YouTube news.
- Extended displays
- e.g. stream a second screen of Halo multiplayer to another device like a laptop or desktop
- Tighter discord integration
- Improved integration with voice-assistants/smart-home.
- Phone-like game switching on all platforms (i.e. Xbox Quick Resume)
- This would probably never happen ,probably won't be that useful for most people and will probably a lot of technical hurdles, but multi-instance backwards compatibility which can allow the player to run two or more instances of an older game. to over come online-only experiences or allow for cool multi-tasking. It would compliment the extended display idea above as well. An example would be a game that doesn't have split screen co-op except online, you run two instances, and one (or more) plays on the TV and they can optionally use an extended display.
