Xbox 360 transplant - possible?

Hi all!

So my neighbour dug out his old 360 to check if it works but sadly it suffers the dreaded RROD. So he dropped the box at my place and told me i can whatever i want and just throw the rest away.

Now i just had an idea to transplant my (working) 360 into his case - he had the Halo 3 limited edition. If that won't do, i would love to replace my disc drive with this one (mine sometimes won't open if there is no disc inside).

I know there have been many revisions of the console and also different drives so the question would be if they are compatible with each other. Is there some database where i could check if the insides of the consoles would fit?

Console 1 - Final Fantasy XIII bundle
Console 2 - Halo 3 limited edition

Any help appreciated.

Edit: I was wrong.

They have different motherboards, you may open the plastic cases and check if the screws are in the same positions.

Jasper was the first one which had a HDMI (my first console ever). But I agree that it probably won't work due to hypervisor working hand in hand with with system unclosure. But it's worth a try at least.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will see what i can do. Maybe at least some scrap parts for thedisc drive so it works flawlessly again.

Old ones are all the same I think. Xenox and Falcon. Jasper might be problematic if it has hdmi.
Both have the HDMI port, so it looks like the amount of ports match. Now to see if the rest also would.

The disc drives are also coded to the motherboards....you need to basically home brew it to work
Ok, so that also won't go. What about dismantling the Halo drive for spare parts and then reconnect my current drive? Would that also rewuire coding the drive again? The opening-closing mechanism is what i'm after.

Just gently slap the side of the console(top if it's in horizontal position) a couple of times xD Always works!
Yeah i've been pimping the hell of the case with my back hand. Now that it's all black and bruised i think a small gesture of love is needed and a repair would be a welcome change in our relationship 😉
