‘FIFA 15’ (-7%) holds on to No1 for a 5th consecutive week, the most of any title so far this year.

EA titles have been at No1 for 18 out of the 43 weeks so far in 2014, while for the whole of last year they only managed a total of 10 weeks. Sales of ‘Minecraft: Playstation Edition’ jump an impressive 82%, boosted by strong sales of the PS4 version, pushing it from No9 to No2. As a result, ‘The Evil Within’ (-64%) slips one place to No3, ahead of ‘Destiny’ which moves up 3 places to No4, sales only down by 9%. ‘Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor’ (-30%) drops one place to No5 ahead of ‘Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!’ which suffers a 62% fall in sales after its second week on release.

There are four new Top 40 titles this week, but only one makes the Top 10; Nintendo’s Wii U exclusive ‘Bayonetta 2’, debuting at No7. The latest in 2K Games and Firaxis’ pioneering PC gaming series ‘Civilization: Beyond Earth’ is the next highest new entry at No18, one spot ahead of another newcomer, Ubisoft’s ‘Just Dance 2015’ which was released across 6 formats with the original Wii version taking a 55% share. Sony’s flagship music title can’t top Ubisoft’s latest dancing one, with ‘Singstar: Ultimate Party’ making an appearance on PS4 and PS3 at No32.

The fact that Forza is still in the top 10 despite being weeks old points to it becoming a sleeper hit in the long term.

Every week I look at these types of charts and I wonder - have more (percentage, not totals) PS3 owners upgraded to a PS4 than 360 owners to an XBO?

I take Fifa as an example of a title that doesn't really have a significant "break" across the generations which is different to the other titles in the list (Evil Within, Shadows).

Anything in this?

Actually a Sony survey found a lot of 360 owners had upgraded to the PS4. But yeah the PS3 was a deeply flawed device and I think many upgraded very early from it.

the way a lot of people have been doom&glooming Bayo2 (I don't expect miracles from it either - niche game/wii u ...), I'm happy to see her relatively high up in the charts, at least for debut week! :)

Just Dance's downward spiral continues as its audience isn't interested in moving to the new generation of consoles, Wii U being a complete flop makes things even worse for the future of this franchise.

This time the Wii version accounted for 55% of its total sales (last year 80%). The game debuted at number 19 in the all formats chart, which is very pitiful considering there are 6 different versions.

It's actually quite suprising. Forza was released on two platforms and only one week earlier. Not to mention positive reviews and it being sequel to one of the best arcade racers from last gen. DriveClub on the other hand is new ip, delayed for one year, had mixed reviews and abysmal release with server problems and still doing quite well.

I'm kind of glad if these gimmicky games have run their course. I don't blame the publishers for seizing these opportunities, but I'm glad if the audience is no longer there. Clearly the 'casual' masses who got on board with the Wii aren't interested in new hardware, and for the most part probably stopped playing their Wiis a good three or four years ago.

Bayonetta doing well. But it will be a very front loaded, everyone who wants it will pretty much have bought it day 1, unless maybe people buy a Wii U closer to xmas and want the game but I expect Bayo is gonna drop like a stone.

Just Dance too mature for the Wii U audience!

Nice to see that Bayonetta 2 is in the top ten in the UK. Hope it does the same in Germany.

I think Ubisoft knows the franchise will eventually fade to black on consoles. Ergo...

They're never making bank like they did before, but maybe it will end up a nice side revenue stream.

I still don't actually get how it measures whether you're dancing correctly, if it even measures it.

Bayonetta doing well. But it will be a very front loaded, everyone who wants it will pretty much have bought it day 1, unless maybe people buy a Wii U closer to xmas and want the game but I expect Bayo is gonna drop like a stone.

I don't think 6th place on the individual charts is all that great for Bayo, but I'm glad it charted in the top 10. Hopefully it will do well.
