What's your downloadble GOTY so far?

I find that weird to divide retail and downloadable games.
My top 3 would probably be:
1) Shovel Knight
2) TxK
3) Wolf Among Us (never heard of a retail copy)

Honorable mentions for Nidhogg, the new Steel Diver, OlliOlli and the new Pullblox

(And yeah, Child of Light, Divinity and some others actually had a retail release)

Transistor is one of my overall Goty picks so of course that. ps4 was the first time I played Rogue Legacy and it's up there for me even if it's been out on other platforms.

I'd say Shovel Knight is my top. Close behind it are Child of Light and Stealth Inc 2. All are fantastic and deserve a playthrough IMO.

Damn, I totally missed OlliOlli, beat that one too. Yeah it's weird, but not everything has to make sense, we can have a little fun with lists instead of wars.

Easily Shovel Knight. Any other year something like Scram Kitty and His Buddy on Rails or 1,001 Spikes would be a standout, but even those excellent games can't compete.

A couple posters mentioned Rogue Legacy, presumably because they got it on PS4 or Vita. I played it on Steam so it's maybe not something I'd count because it didn't release there this year, but the game is truly awesome.

Strider. Also Outlast was good.

Overall a bit of a shit-ish year, lots of reasonably good stuff but nothing amazing. Next year is looking to change all that though with the likes of Ori, Rime, Inside etc

many good ones this year, but I enjoyed Sayonara Umihara Kawase (Yumi's Odd Odyssey) the most.
Eyewateringly difficult after a while, but mastering the controls was an incredibly rewarding experience.
And then you go and watch Youtubes of speed runs and realize that there is a whole other level of skill to aspire to (as well as some incredibly clever level design)

Gamasutra.
So many good games this year. I've enjoyed:
Counter Spy
Crimsonland
Pix the Cat
Luftrausers
TxK
Steamworld Dig
Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition
Stick It to the Man

Really a great time if you enjoy smaller games.

There are plenty I haven't bought yet, or got around to playing. But these would probably be my favorites so far.

1. Velocity 2X
2. Transistor
3. One Finger Death Punch

I'm having a marvellous time with Valiant Hearts at the moment.

Walking Dead season 2, Wolf Among Us, Banner Saga, Wasteland 2, Child of Light, and Transistor were pretty cool as well

1) Valiant Hearts
---- huge gap ----
2) TxK
3) Wolf Among Us

Actually, I enjoyed these three games more than any retail game this year

Atelier Rorona Plus (on Vita)

Sure, the PS3 version has a retail release, but child of light has a retail release for Vita and people are still counting it.

Peggle 2.
The only other one I bought was Child Of Eden, that was pretty good but I've not played it much.
Haven't been impressed with the GWG offerings except Chariot(and even then that was just ok)

Anyway, I really have a hard time with this question, since I don't make a mental distinction between "retail" and "downloadable" games anymore. Everything is a download, and for a select few games I like enough I'll acquire a physical artifact.

This.

Child of Light. Proof that not everything with Ubisoft's name on it is an overhyped AAA downgraded bullshot handholding QTE fest.

I have my Vita physical copy snugly tucked away, but I get what you mean ;)

Either way my vote EASILY goes to Shovel Knight. It'll definitely be in contention for my actual GOTY when voting starts.

Dungeon of the endless right now but I'm also really close to it's release and loving it far more than I thought I would

Divinity too

One of them

Jazzpunk, Octodad, Nidhogg, Journal and Towerfall: Ascension have been some of my top games this year. I started The Vanishing of Ethan Carter last night and it's seeming like that'll make the overall Top 10 for the year.

I had been quite hyped-up for Child of Light but after a couple of hours of play, I stopped playing and haven't been back on it since April. Despite it being a quintessentially "me" sort of game, it's just not grabbed me.

op_ivy

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)
destiny.

runners up: horizon 2 and sunset overdrive

all 3 amazing games and a handful that would chart just behind them. its been a terrific year for gaming IMO.

edit:apologies. its early. couldnt figure out why literally no one was posting a single game i listed or expected for goty.

so guacamelee for me (x1)

D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die

Nothing else even comes close for me. It might still be my GOTY too depending on how I feel about Bayonetta 2 when I clear it...

Runner Ups:
Shovel Knight
Azure Striker: Gunvolt

Potential knock-out when I ultimately download the Wii U version:
Shantae and the Pirates Curse
