To this day I still don't have Ultimate for the sole fact that none of the characters added were female. With so many diverse and important women in the Marvel universe, for none of them to get a shot was something I couldn't and wouldn't accept.

Glad I could make you laugh man, you should've seen me when the character announcement first came out. #SaltForDays

Looking back on it now it is indeed pretty funny, but back then? Frustration like no other.

6+ inches give or take.

As long as this doesn't happen every week I am fine. Last year was the worst.

Last year was fucking ridiculous. Special shout outs to DeBlasio keeping CUNY schools open and making me trudge through like 12+ inches of snow only to get to a class where I was the third person to show up total in half its duration and be greeted by my professor staring out the window like "I should be home right now". :lol

marvel is a bad game but it's also quite unique and fun in a lot of key aspects. there is a massive pool of creativity with a very strong illusion that it's worthwhile due to how the team setups work- even unique ones are generally "situationally strong". of course, the reality is that only a few characters are actually truly competitively viable and standardization of teams occurs due to that but the draw is pretty much always there to some degree

it's rather unfortunate that it's a pretty bad game because with only a few key changes it'd at least have the strength of that massive box of creativity without the cancerous character and system designs dragging it down to the deepest, darkest pits of hell

the game being both stale and bad is generally good enough reason to dislike it, but for some bizarre reason i don't really trust anybody when they say "man fuck marvel" because i really get the feeling they have no idea what they're talking about at all and would be unable to produce specific beliefs as to why the game is bad when pressed over vague things parroted from folks who actually do understand the flaws with the game

Don't think I can agree with you there. Across four EVO's (including vanilla which I know isn't the same game) the winning Marvel teams consisted of 12 unique characters configured in teams of varying styles (runaway/resets, rushdown/zoning hybrid, all-out aggressive rushdown, etc.). So that's as diverse as it gets, actually. There's certainly a lot of Zero, Doom and Vergil out there but we are continuing to see evolution in the game. Big bodies are starting to make more of an impact. We had Hulk and Shuma in the top 8 for the first time last year.

And even amongst the top players who play very common characters such as Magneto and Doom, the playstyles of choice are quite varied. FChamp's Magneto plays nothing like RayRay's Magneto. The top tier of Marvel players (Justin Wong, Chris G, Filipino Champ, PR Balrog) is still comprised of multi-game experts with all-around fighting game talent, showing it takes more than just grinding away on infinites to win in Marvel. It takes fundamentals. Just because you don't pay attention to these things doesn't mean they don't exist.

Well snow is also bad because morons will fall on your property and use it as an excuse to sue your ass because you didn't shovel. So basically when there's snow people go nuts about getting rid of it on walkways and such.

X, Vile, and Sigma would be a good start.

Edit.
Sony should lock down the FGC by funding MvC4, I hear they are on good terms with Marvel, and clearly Capcom would be down.

With SF5 and MvC4, you would literally have to own a PS4 to have a meaningful role in the FGC.

My motherfucking nigga!

Sad to say but marvel gonna be dead for a long time, ima still enjoy my mahvel 3.

People will always complain about its "bullshit" but every game has its own set of bullshit nowadays. So it really comes down to if u can, first off, handle the game itself and then handle it's bullshit.

All this talk about Marvel this and that but people have forgotten that about other actual dead games... KOFXIII and Injustice.

Kinda bummed KOF didn't get included at EVO because I wanted Tokido to take the title. But numbers don't lie and KOF's inclusion last year was kinda suspect as well. This is pretty much the final nail in the coffin for that game. I guess people were fed up with tier whoring in that game too.

Injustice has gotten gobbled up by MKX's hype train which is kinda sad because the game still had legs and actual support.

you act as if the game's flaws are particularly obscure or hard to discern. they're really not.

What it REALLY comes down to is the same thing all games come down to: are you still having fun? If so, keep at it until you're not. If not, try something new. I'm still having fun with Marvel so I'm still playing it, and my love for this one fighting game has led me to check out SFIV, Skullgirls, Divekick, Smash, Injustice, MK, and others. But I always come back to big poppa.

Maybe if MKX didn't also add interactables and meter burn moves (EX input after special move input is preformed instead of while performing it). That and the basic "making a good fighting game" improvements from Injustice that are carrying over (unique air and crouching normals, trade hits, real command grabs, back to block).

I wonder what Injustice 2 could do gameplay wise to create a SF/Marvel situation where they're two clearly (even to outsiders) different games that despite overlap still have enough players both as opposed to a mass exodus to the newer game that's close enough in gameplay to the company's previous game in a different series.

Is Xrd the first game to get more entrants at an FGC event than SF4 since U/MvC3?

Killer Instinct last year wasn't that much more than The King of Fighters XIII or Injustice Gods Among Us, and its non-Evo showings have always been bad.
Of course we all know that the only reason it's there is moneyhats.

It still has decent turn outs at majors, usually more than Killer Instinct. A bummer.

Man I really want to play Killer Instinct, but no other games really warrant me purchasing the xbox one. Injustice has been great to watch ever since that last big balance patch. Tons of diversity at tourneys with characters now which is fantastic.

Yeah but most of the reason people hate the game are overblown or apply to most other fighting games as well.

Like for example people bombast the game for having a lack of character variety when the game has more characters winning EVO than some games have TOTAL characters.

Or that the game is "dead" at tournaments when it still gets a sizeable player base.

You wanna know how many fighting games got released and "died" since MVC3 came out? A whole bunch of them:

MK9
Injustice
SCV
SFxT
TTT2
UNIEL
DOA5
KOFXIII
Skullgirls
Blazblue

It's probably going to out survive half of the game at this year's EVO as well. Even if it got erased from existence right after EVO 2015, it would still have gotten more EVO appearances than any other fighter post SF4 era except SF4 itself.

Of course we all know that the only reason it's there is moneyhats.
Let's be honest here, Persona 4 at EVO is also the result of money hats.

Not to mention even Tag 2 seem more alive than KI.

For the record, I have nothing against money hats but I call it like it is.

Persona and KI being at EVO is still a good thing. It's not like those games not being at EVO was going to result in TTT2 or KOF being at EVO.

Hell I am sure T7 was money hatted too but that's so weird to call.

I am actually most excited for T7 at EVO. It's going to be absolutely crazy (even though we will get wrecked by oversea players).
