GTA V modding thread

Don't know if anyone has posted this yet but developement has started on GTA: MP for GTA V. Supposed to have it's own dedicated in-game menu and it skips the launcher, Dedicated servers with up to 100's people with your scripts and such.

Here's a video of development: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kFDc5H0RT0&feature=youtu.be
Website: https://gta-mp.net/

Supposedly there's ex-Rockstar people on the team doing this.

Man, I hope this takes off. I had so much fun with the SAMP servers back in the day.

Trainer is crazy fun. Definitely annoying having to uninstall and install each time I want to use it, but it could be worse. Fun game, shoot all the cop tires you see, when you have like 20 cop cars chasing you, bumper cars of death. Good times.

Is there a way to play the game offline besides turning off my internet? I don't believe switching Steam to offline mode works.

You can forbid the game's exe file and the launcher from accessing internet by creating a rule in the advanced settings of Windows' firewall.

Or use a tool like NetBalancer to block them from accessing internet.

I am more hyped with this than the game indeed

Man, GTAV on PC with maxed out settings looks amazing:

:)

Would like a mod that makes the bullet damage model system more like GTAIV or RDR, although it'd probably be a lot more difficult to do that because it would change AI behavior as well. In RDR, if you shot a guy in the arm, he'd drop his gun and then be rendered mostly offense-less, if you shot him in the leg, he'd drop to the ground and either stagger after you, or drag himself away and limp away running, etc.

In GTAV, I was disapointed to see that if you shot an NPC typically you down them in one shot... Or, you'd shoot them in the leg, they'd drop, but then get up and be "angry" or "afraid" of you and the injury wouldn't be obvious. Shooting them again usually killed them.

Not only this, but the way the sounds work is pretty bad. For example; fire a single shot with an assault rifle and it always has this little sound in it at the end that sounds like it's apart of the next shot. Sort of like the sound between rounds being belt fed into a machine gun while firing at full auto.

This didn't happen with IV and it sounds awful here.

The suppressed weapons + machine guns are the only decent sounding weapons IMO

Yeah the full auto guns have sound loops, instead of a single shot. Which will make it very difficult change the sound for them. I have a bunch of single shot sound files prepared, but no loops.

That trainer looks freaking AMAZING, I wish it had some of the IV features though, like the ability to customize your vehicle from anywhere.

I'm gonna hold off installing it until it looks like it's safe from R* bans, I wouldn't put it past them even though Alexander has disabled it for online.

Yeah, it's good, but there's a lot of room for improvement. Like how you have to cycle through skins for characters, with no option to specifically customize them (e.g. Jimmy will randomly have nightvision goggles on when cycling through his skins). Also it needs a ped/bodyguard spawner.

Yeah that what was great about IV's trainer too, the clothing / hair options you got for ped skins. I imagine R* have done peds in the same way in V so hopefully it's not too hard to get those options in.

IIRC IV trainer also had an option to open all interiors or something, unlocking doors to mission interiors and stuff that you could only get to once. Need something like that if just for Tequilala, it was so lame that they made that fantastic interior and then you only use it in one small mission, never to see it again.

Got it working, yeah that trainer is pretty cool, being able to cycle time of day by hour is great. Also loving the outfit options.

So since this Alexander Blade fellow has got the asi loader working does that mean the gates are open for mods now? Stuff like icenhancer?

Didn't even discover the other animals plus pedestrians in the skin menu till today. So I discovered you can FLY with the birds. I just spent like 20 minutes flying around as a hawk, it was amazing. Oh yes, and you can poop with left mouse/right trigger. Still haven't figured out how to land safely yet though. Somebody should make a Tokyo Jungle style mp mod with all these animals, would be great fun.

Also, holy hell at the variety of peds, had no idea. Really interesting getting to control each one, most of them have their own unique animations/skeletal system. I'll be busy with this trainer for a loooong time.

You've seen how the files work? Where are they? Surely you can change the sound to whatever you like and the new sound (be it a loop, or not) starts at the new shot / firing animation?

Nah I can just tell that they are sound loops, I do a lot of sound modding.

A loop is basically a long .wav file that goes "RATATATATATATATATA" instead of the usual short .wav file that goes "BANG".

So if you were to replace a sound loop with a regular single-shot sound it wouldn't work well ingame. The sound file would play once and then there would be silence as you shoot through the rest of the magazine.

Finding a good loop sound file is hard. Although it might be possible to change the properties of the automatic guns so they use single shot sound files instead.
We just have to hope the modders can crack the encrypion so we can get some mod tools

I really hope we get some loud, echo-y weapon sounds like in Heat.

I think this game uses mono channel sounds for guns instead of stereo, so echoes are probably not gonna sound that amazing. Still.. anything is better that the default ones.

No way of changing that? Also, would it be in the realm of possibility to fix the colour banding in the sky, as well as some of the clothing colours? R* seem to have used 16-bit colours for some items so they look like shit in particular lighting.

The ingame trainer should disable itself in multiplayer.

I was playing yesterday online and someone playing as a monkey had an SMG that shot rockets, so I think people have found workarounds for that multiplayer disabling.

There's a modded version of that mod that keeps it online enabled unfortunately.

Also I'm on mobile but a script hook editor got released I think.

So I read somewhere that the reason you get wanted levels in the middle of the desert is because Rockstar gave animals the ability to report your crimes. Is this true?

I doubt it. There's a picture that goes around of an XML document from the game that has the word "animal" near the phrase "can report crimes" or whatever, but they're in unrelated tags and aren't linked.

I think the real reason you get random wanted levels is that there is a seemingly random chance you get a wanted level the instant you commit a crime.

Probably true. Sometimes I'll get a wanted level as soon as I punch out a pedestrian with no cops in sight. Some people have talked about how you get stars when peds see you and call the cops, but that doesn't always happen.

True that it doesn't always, but the fact that it does sometimes is a nice touch. It's good in some cases how you can quickly kill someone who's on their phone and the cops won't have been notified.

Dear Santa, I mean, mod creators,

This is ambitious but should be possible:

Let us visit Liberty City (GTA IV) in GTA V. Like a second island.

This is for example possible in Fallout New Vegas where you can visit Fallout 3's world using a mod. See https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/faq#whatisttw
Tale of Two Wastelands (TTW) is a project that seeks to merge the content from the popular video game Fallout 3 into the more modern game engine of Fallout New Vegas so that both games can be played in the Fallout New Vegas engine.

I also think that GTA IV will be portrayed a lot nicer since we import all the building assets, model assets, etc. but the lighting, color schemes, etc. from GTA V will stay so Liberty City will look a lot more vibrant.

I did a second stream messing around with the trainer and had more fun than I recall ever having with the base game. Could hardly breathe throughout much of it I was laughing so hard.

Teaser shots:

Highlights:

Escalating Insanity is the beginning of the fun and it's a long clip. There's so much there tho, I had to capture it all.
Rampaging chimp releases his inner hawk
A hawk goes golfing
Can whales fly?
Pyromaniacat strikes back
Trolling the fire dept & Assisting the fire dept

Credit to this thread for showing me this amazing tool. Can't wait for future mods!

TTW is a bit of a unique case. New Vegas and F3 both share assets and run on near-identical versions of the same shitty Gamebryo engine. TTW works by importing the data files from F3 into New Vegas as a mod. It'd be a little more difficult to do the same with IV, though I wouldn't doubt that someone ports it over eventually.

JaseC

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
I'd just like a mod that adds secondary objectives to the options menu from the off. Having to first complete a mission is annoying.

Updated OP with the new low spec patch.

The specs are:

This manages to hold 30fps without going below it, only a bit above unless you lock it with half vsync

You might be able to squeeze 30fps out of a GTX 7900 with this. Might. The 520m is awful.

Heck, I might be able to run the game on my i5 integrated graphics laptop, lol.
