Winona Ryder said the sequel to the 1988 film "Beetlejuice" is happening after both Tim Burton and Michael Keaton indicated it's in the works.

"I think I can confirm it because Tim Burton did this interview, it was very hush, hush top secret … then he was doing some press for 'Big Eyes' and he did an on-camera interview and he said 'oh, yea we're doing it. Winona's gonna be in it,'" she said on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" Monday.

"So if he said it, I can," she added. "But I really don't know much more than anybody else."

It's irritating to me that we're just now getting all of these "dream" sequels well after the actors are at a reasonable age.

I really don't want to see new tim burton take on his classics. This will be like Scott and Prometheus but a million times worse.

Yeah new Tim burton is truly awful. I'm not a huge fan of his anyway but I do love Beetlejuice and I don't think he would be able to make anything close to that these days.

There was just the right amount of Beetlejuice in the first one. I hope they keep that formula and don't make him the center of the movie.

Meh Keaton being old doesn't hurt beetlejuice.

Yeah the 17 pounds of makeup will probably hide most of it. The only question will be if he appears super energetic for the part. Beetlejuice is basically manic after all.

OK Winona, I believe you.

The first is a classic so if Burton can get out of his funk for this I'll be the first to jump in the line.

That is a very good idea, it would account for age change/time period change perfectly.

It's clever, but I don't think anyone would really want that at this point. You'd remember the scene one way, but when you saw the recreation suddenly you'd notice how old Michael Keaton got.

Though I know I should be wary,
Still I venture someplace scary.
Ghostly haunting, I turn loose,
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!

That's why it's funny.

EDIT: beaten

I really hope this doesn't happen. Not with Burton anyway.

It wouldn't be a recreation, though. The joke is that it took 30 years for his number to be called.

...and Quentin Tarantino is making Kill Bill 3.

...and Sam Raimi is making another Evil Dead movie with Ash and Mia.

I'll believe it all when I'm sitting in the theater watching it.

Anyway, I went to imdb to check on Tim Burton movies after all these cries of "he's bad now" and I realized that he's really no more hit-or-miss now than he was 20 years ago.

Does Ash vs Evil Dead count?
