real talk you guys

family guy was pretty funny for the first three seasons

I'd say the peak was somewhere between seasons 5 and 10. Now I'm more or less indifferent about the show. To people who dislike Family Guy: what's your opinion on Robot Chicken? A lot of what people hate about FG seems to have something to do with the cutaway gag structure
(and the show not being funny, I know)
and Robot Chicken is basically just that.

robot chicken is legit my least favorite show on television

lack of social link with president tanaka was a missed opportunity

every detective team needs a weapon supplier

Perfect idea for Persona 5

The players party is a gang of thieves or something right? Well what if all Tanaka's deals are only because he is getting his products "from the back of a truck" which you supply.

Sports betting is illegal except in Nevada and a handful of other states though, isn't it?

Makes it seem like a loophole honestly.

It's actually precisely a loophole. When the US banned online gambling back in 2006, the professional sports leagues in the US got worried about their (regular) fantasy stuff, which just then was getting popular. So they got congress to write a tiny little loophole.

Draft Kings and its ilk just drove a goddamn Mack Truck through that hole and ripped it wide open:

The law, which Congress passed in July 2006, prohibits gambling businesses from accepting bets or wagers over the Internet, effectively shutting down online poker and sports betting in the United States.

It might have had a similar effect on fantasy sports if not for the section carved out specifically to make them legal. The law permits “participation in any fantasy or simulation sports game or educational game or contest in which (if the game or contest involves a team or teams) no fantasy or simulation team is based on the current membership of an actual team that is a member of an amateur or professional sports organization.”

The section on fantasy sports included three conditions. All prizes must be established before the contest and not determined by the number of participants. The outcome of the contest must reflect “the relative knowledge and skill of the participants” and be determined by statistical results. The contest cannot be based on the score, point spread or any performance of a single real team or an individual athlete in a single real sporting event.

...

“The carve-out, as I recall, was considered a kind of footnote,” Jim Leach, the now-retired Republican congressman from Iowa who co-authored the bill, said in an e-mail. “It was never much discussed during consideration of UIGEA because it was considered like horse racing, already part of the American betting scene.”

Having capitalized for years on the popularity of fantasy sports, sports leagues helped ensure they wouldn’t perish. MLB specifically lobbied for the fantasy carve-out. In a letter dated Feb. 1, 2006, the top lawyers from the NCAA, NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB asked members of Congress to co-sponsor UIGEA, which included the fantasy carve-out.

This concludes your history lesson on fantasy sports in the United States.

In other topics, are the Strikes in Destiny runnable with match-making/randoms if I don't know the details of the strike ahead of time and I don't use a mic? I have a couple quests in my backlog telling me to run strikes, but I've been avoiding all multiplayer stuff.

did none of you guys play P3 or what

i didn't play p4, so

i do own both vanilla and golden, though. don't have the time for rpgs anymore, although i am pretty tempted to dive into smt iv what with the recent news of a sequel

wait, i played persona q so technically i've played both 3 and 4. that's how that works, right?

i think you might be stealing metaphors in p5 tho

I feel like that game has been announced for ages bit I still got zero idea what is actually going on in that game.

So far I got.

Its got the same "new student in a new school" set up.
There is some kind of heist theme to the persona / shadow dungeons.
I think one of the party members is a cat.
I think I read somewhere that your in game phone is a big deal and that this games "midnight channel" stand in is a app.

Persona 3 is just fucked since there isn't a definitive version. Each version has its pros and cons: OF P3 isn't as good as P3FES, FES has actual world transversal and extra content compared to OF P3 but you cannot control your party members in battle, P3P has FeMC and full party control in battles but cutscenes are not animated and the world transversal is reduced to a PnC-like format so that the game could fit in a UMD.

the game really deserves a definitive edition, i prefer its story and atmosphere compared to P4 though i still think P4 is the better overall game. but not by much.

I now own Persona 3 portable.

I am not sure where my Vita is but maybe I should fine it. Could use another 100 hour RPG to fill the time I have in between Witcher 3, MGSV grinding and waiting for Fallout 4 and hoping it isnt busted.

i recommend using this guide to get a fuller experience with the game. P3P is somewhat compromised due to the limitations of the UMD format so this guide helps to flesh things out

Yeah.

You got most of what you need to know.

one thing i will say about p5 is that they better make the vocals for the opening work in the final version 'cause that video they released was totally inferior to the instrumental version

Journey, not the Answer.

The problem with that game is that once you get Armageddon, the whole thing becomes academic. You want to talk Win buttons? That's a goddamn Win button, seeing as there are all of 2 enemies in the entire game who don't instantly die to it.

Wait, what do you mean OF P3 doesn't have actual world traversal? To the best of my knowledge the only difference between OF P3 and P3 FES: The Journey is a new social link, added cutscenes, added costumes and some balancing of Personae.

I still think P3's pacing and like overall story are all over the shop until about November or so. P4 is a lot more formulaic (you've got two weeks to save this kid, then a rest of a week and a half or so, then another two weeks, repeat ad infinitum until culprit is caught) but because the quests tie into the story a lot better and significant stuff happens in between it all flows nicely.

P3, the way it panned out felt like you had an arbitrary deadline to get to X floor and defeat the guardian by whenever and then just bum around until some story thing happened. Which is, you know, the same, but it was less related to what you were actually doing in Tartarus, so it felt more disjointed. Also it spent more time playing on character stuff than the main plot until Christmas... I think

Persona 4 golden was like playing with a permanent win button from the start.

The one joke I remember laughing at in Family Guy was the episode where Brian becomes a bestselling author for a crappy book, and becomes a total diva.

He's backstage at a talk show complaining about the food in the green room and finishes by admonishing the intern for giving him gray M&Ms despite him asking for coloured ones.

I don't know why I found it so funny. Maybe because it had restraint?

Big time. Playing Persona 4 first I found it harder to cope with Persona 3. How far you should be going up Tartarus also was something I found confusing in my first play through.

The final produced version should be real good. Though the current version that they put out has really grown on me.

straightening out the sound mix will obviously help but i think it desperately needs some background singers or something, just more flair overall

production is the word i'm ultimately looking for, i guess

when i was comparing world traversal i was making the comparison with P3P and not OG P3. Though if youre going to play any version of P3 on the PS2 there's really no reason to play OG P3 with FES out.
