New Quantum Break Impressions & Previews

I'd say graphically QB and U4 are close. I'd give a slight edge to U4 for its attention to details. I think both games succeed in what they are going for graphically. QB looks like a flashy, stylish television show. U4 looks a bit more natural in my eyes. Both look outstanding.

He means that textures are "glued", not the real textures.

Beard is also more detailed on Nathan Drake's face. Hair on the chin looks more real.

I can almost hear the Rocky theme playing in the background...

Game looks fucking amazing! God damn day one

OMG IS THIS WHAT NEOGAF HAS COME TO?!

Seriously

Who cares at this point, both games look amazing. At least wait till the games are out so you can have a proper comparison.

can't find a good high res pic for Nadine :/

Elena looks pretty similar to Ellie now

Bronetta

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
Yo those effects look crazy this game looks insane in motion.

So glad this is coming to PC in LESS THAN 2 MONTHS? Can't wait!

I've watched most of the videos now and I just can't get over the lighting and how fucking good the overall game looks.

I don't even think I blinked.

Best graphics I've ever seen.

Have the feeling i need to post this again. :p

Why does every thread derail after 6 or 7 pages in a "compare graphics" thread. :D
Especially when we have devs watching and responding in this thread about the game. We can ask about the game instead people are talking about graphics again.

And that Fuuuuu section was so funny. Glad there is a gif now haha.

Both stubbles look legitimately amazing. QB and Uncharted look amazing. I'm not sure if either looks better than the Order graphically.

On topic, I really am liking how the AI is behaving in the preview footage. This game seems like it will be a challenge on high difficulty settings.

What we do know is that both will be infinitely better games than the Order.

I believe the AI have in later levels also things that causes to disable your abilities for a moment. Like special grenades. Wich makes it even more tactical and making good choices.

I really feel people are getting overly excited from the visual because of all the pixie dust in the game is pushing out with the over exaggerated effects to make it feel like a high production action movie, which it does feel that way but put these kind of effects in 3 year old Max Payne 3 running on PC and you essentially have QB visuals. It's impressive but not "THAT" impressive but it is setting the bar higher for consoles imho

..But this game sure looks VERY impressive on X1 hardware. I believe these are the kind of graphics we'll see from many games in the future for consoles and above QB now that studios are harnessing the efficient hardware of the two consoles. 2016 should be a treat for both consoles and going into 2017 should be peak performance for sure by then.

The effects do stick out but some of the people pushing this over U4 for fanbase purposes are failing to realize that what ever X1 is capable...PS4 is a nice notch more capable than what X1 can do considering the hardware is AMD and PS4 has a generation better hardware. In other words, it's not like the PS4 can't do these visuals and i highly suspect U4 when all is said and done will set the bar above anything else on both consoles.

This game though, looks VERY nice because of how the effects mesh into the structures in the game in a way we have not seen at this level before but take out the effects and the game merely looks like a tweaked up MP3 game from 3 years or so ago

If you're talking about graphics only, then you may be right but gunplay and gameplay is better in Remedy's games. This is where Naughty Dog can't match Remedy's.

After watching the video previews, i'm convinced this will be fucking amazing to me ! The time manipulation, the powers etc. look like a blast to play !

wat? Remedy ups Naughty dog gunplay? Bro Fonky..that is a matter of opinion, my friend. But you got balls to put Remedy next to Godlike NDog

This is looking really good. The enemies appear to be very aggressive so the time powers will come in handy, should make for some fun combat. Love the visual effects of the time powers as well as the physics.

Texture work, character modeling, effects, and lightning are far superior in QB than MP3.

ND has never proven to have great gunplay and UC3 was basically an embarrassment in that department. It's more than fair to say that Remedy outclasses them in that regard.

The best part is its less than 2 months away can't wait to play this game , if the game turns out to be poor PC Port then MS would rather face more anger issues from PC community rather than support for bringing the game to PC.

Damn that 16GB had to upgrade since most games are getting demanding now

Is the footage confirmed that it comes from Xbox? If that is the case I am impressed.

One thing that not looked so great was the animation in that Dome.fi video. When they run down that corridor it looks so dumb when Dominic Monaghan runs straight into a wall and completly stops then turns and starts to run again only to stop once more really akward standing still for like 5 seconds, looking like he is about to jump or something, before the next animation begins. Also popping out of cover looks off since it is instans.

So if you want to compare the game to Uncharted compare that to the E3 demo and how Sully and Drake moves it really shows how much better ND are.

I agree that it doesn't look better than Uncharted 4, but I think you need to play Max Payne 3 again.

Naughty Dog isn't considered godlike for their gunplay though.

And this is what Remedy can offer from a budget title:

FlamboyantSizzlingAsianlion.gif

None of that was scripted, straight gameplay, captured about 2 hours ago.

Im not gonna say one is definitely better than the other cause your right, thats subjective. But your downplaying the god tier gunplay that Remedy can (and has) offer(ed).

Edit: And yeah, i kinda wanted to show that off :D

Watched a bit more of the stuff, and I'm really not a fan of the lighting at all. Way too fake looking for my tastes. Reminded me a lot of rim lighting for some reason from back in the day. And for that reason, I think UC4 is pretty clearly ahead of this title visually for me (though I'm not sure why this comparison is even being made in the thread).

The facial animation was ace in one of those clips. And those powers, damn. Damn!

Time to go scrounge up some money.

Never played a Remedy game, but other than TLOU Naughty Dog's gunplay has never been their strongest area. Uncharted 4 is much better though thank god (from the beta).

I am sorry dont take this the wrong way but I really dont see what was great about that. It's perhaps me but how is that "god tier" gunplay?

The way the bodies fly out and sizzle into nothingness
The way the screen slightly shakes with the power of a shotgun blast
The comical timing of the last enemy

Theres also things lost in translation because of course, your not playing it yourself. So more physical feedback for example.

...and that's a 20 dollar? budget title.

Also, these things are subjective as well, so theres not really much I can say to convince you if your minds made. But that right there is what I find to be god-tier gameplay, when I cant tell if im playing a game or watching a scene of a movie. But due to the gameplay, not the narrative or story.

Basically get's across (rather well I think) the idea that Remedy's mission statement has always been to nail that "cinematic flair" of their gunplay/action. It's not necessary just about the player's input but how shit on screen plays out in response to it.

Translation, Remedy games just look AND play fucking cool

Quantum Break looks no different and is why Remedy fans love Remedy games

As a whole Quantum Break looks a lot better then uncharted 4 imo (lighting, enviroment, special effects and art).

After the gameplay video this is one of my most hyped games of this gen.

Remedy games are just too good.

Uncharted 4 also has the disadvantage being the 4th entry in a franchise that was already long in the tooth by the 3rd

....and I adore Uncharted.
