Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
The man who hasn't watched that Tifa Lockheart hentai video is a man who has never truly lived.

That video is also canonical, by the way.

What is a Final Fantasy?

It's at times like this that I realise how large and diverse the sphere of gaming is - I've been playing games for, gee, 30-odd years, and wouldn't have seen more than 5 minutes of gameplay from any Final Fantasy title. I haven't played a minute of them, and have never felt compelled to.

I couldn't tell you anything about them, other than 'there are lots', and that folks feel particularly strongly about which is good (or bad), and why.

It's kinda great that there's a long-enduring franchise this large and influential, that means so much to so many...but that there's so much diverse gaming available that I feel like I haven't missed a thing by not being swept up by it one little bit.

If you like turn-based RPGs
play Dragon Quest instead.

I'm really excited to see what Degica does with the Code of Princess port. Degica is one of the best companies on STEAM if you ask me. The take pride in what they release to the public an den respond quickly to feed back. They are unsung heroes.

There is an actual timeline?

What is this Brandon Sanderson Cosmere shit!?

Lets see here
Omega travels through time and dimensions from FF5. Some people say the omega in FF12 is the earlier iteration of him pre evolution. This doesn't mean anything.
Gilgamesh also travels through time and space, as he is the same recurring character all around. This still doesn't do much for the timeline.

As for connected final fantasies, FF13 is arguably connected to a lot of stuff through bullshit implications at the end, and no one should take this stuff seriously.

The more important one: FF7 takes place after FF10. This is 100% confirmed regardless of how much parts of the fanbase dislike it. The Shinra in FF10-2 is an ancestor of the Shinra company in FF7 after they populate a new world.
Yes, FF7 and FF10 are in the same universe.
edit: relevant quote to that
"After quitting the Gullwings, Shinra received enormous financial support from Rin, and began trying to use Vegnagun to siphon Mako Energy from the Farplane. But, he is unable to complete the system for utilizing this energy in his generation, and in the future, when traveling to distant planets becomes possible, the Shin-Ra Company is founded on another world, or something like that....... That would happen about 1000 years after this story, I think."

Gilgamesh is not the same character.
It's just a stereotype, like Moogles or Chocobo, if you want pass me the example. Because in some games he is serious, like FFVIII, in other is a comic character, in other something in the middle, like FFVI. There are just iterative elemens in FF games, but there's not a truly connection if not between FFXIII Trilogy and X/X-2 games.
Even the mythology between FFXIII, Type 0 and, apparently, FFXV is similar but it's not the same.
The FFVII world being the same one of FFX it's more like an easter egg than something else. Yes, there were dudes on SE saying they could share the same universe, but that's it, despite that unique easter egg there's nothing else connecting those worlds.
The quote you posted is a hypothesis, since there's nothing hinted at this in the games.

The mistake you and others are doing is seeing fanfiction spinoffs as canon.

Wait a minute did SE actually get up on stage and say no PC version for FF15?

Seems odd if they did, usually companies would just avoid mentioning something like that on stage :/

btw there's a Batman fight scene in BvS where he uses almost all of Arkham's games moves and gadgets. straight up weapon disruptors, vertical takedown, double parry, knife dodge

it's so obvious it's made from that that its weird to see

pls x-2 is canon
if you meant LR, I don't want to analyze that, I'll wait till someone calls me out and says it's officially relating to games X and Y and then pretend I care about lightning.

Gilgamesh hardly matters because there isn't much of an opinion either way. But no, hes not recurring like "moogles" or such, since he openly jokes about coming from other worlds, he's not simply recurring.

FF13, Type 0, and FFXV share mythology because they're in the same overarching universe of Nova Crystallis - if Tabata for some awful reason wants to connect the dots, he probably could, but I have no idea why he would want to. They were originally supposed to be more connected in plot actually.
edit: I'm not saying these games are in connected worlds or anything, just that their base mythos is the same.

And regarding FF7 to FF10 - no, that's not a hypothesis. FF7 and FF10 are in the same world regardless of the actual games not directly hinting at it, per the Ultimania books (Omega and X-2) saying it. And by saying it, I mean Nojima himself saying it >_>
So yeah, that's official series canon.

JaseC, why are you stalking poor MS astroturfers?
Don't you know Microsoft has only your best interest in mind. Like, no cheating due to rogue DLL injectors. No keyloggers that steal your Chrome passwords. No exclusive fullscreen so that you don't inadvertently damage your monitor...

Dragon Quest universe wise is so much easier to understand, what with 1, 2 and 3 all being a part of their own thing, and 4,5 and 6 their own thing, and the others is anyone's guess.

I prefer Legend of Heroes
where 1/2 are an arc
3/4/5 are an arc

now it gets fun
6/6/6 are an arc
7/7 are an arc
and then two that aren't numbered are an arc

and these are all connected anyways. Why did they make arcs take multiple and then one number slot? Who knows!

I realise you're at least mostly kidding, but as I explained, I didn't stalk him. His GAF homepage is his website and he's linked to his Steam profile in the past (which uses his GAF name). I do admit that I checked his Steam profile after he said he'd stop using Steam following the Christmas Day caching issue, but only because comments like that tend to come from people who don't actually use Steam, and, hey, I was right.

I think you're just using one of those browser mods packed with viruses made using illicit and forbidden programming technique to dox this info.
In conclusion you are a computer black wizard and should be burnt on stake to a cheering crowd of MS supporters.

you can say whatever you want, Spirits Within is a good movie and it looked like a damn marvel back then, it still looks impressive if you remember its age.
IDK why people didn't go to see it, it made no sense to me, as it being supposedly horrible opinions. Where do these people even come from? Do they even watch movies? Which movies they compared it to, to find it this bad? Nothing made sense, nothing!
Then again life in general doesn't, like for example, in spite of buying SE games just fine (on PC), we still will have to wait for FF15 PC release goddess knows how long.
As I said, nothing makes sense!

I think this is the premise of The Crucible. Adjusted for the 21st century.

I liked Spirits Within, it didn't felt like a Final Fantasy but the movie was ok. Same with Advent Children, nothing wrong with it. But who cares? My opinion means nothing to you :/

i remember thinking the movie was watchable but not what i wanted out of a final fantasy movie

and i thought i knew what i wanted until i watched advent children and boy i was wrong. advent children is 100% on my list of the worst movies i've ever watched, and i've watched so many movies

i can't remember much about spirit within right now, but if i watch a final fantasy movie i want the iconography at least to be there in some shape or form. i want moogles and chocobos, i want the music to feel like final fantasy music, that kind of stuff.

i feel that's what the movie failed to deliver for me back then but i may be wrong, i can't really remember much about it

FF fans were raging about more mature FF for years, they got Spirits Within, no cutesy, no nonsense, just a good mature movie with deep roots into FF, as for example Gaia,
the planets being alive and semisentient
, it even had Cid! Yet, not only people fail to recognize it as a FF movie, it very much is, trust me on this, but they hated it. Shows very well that people really don't know what they want.
As for Advent Children, it is a horrid movie true, but action scenes are insane and fun and it's an eye candy to be sure, I had no problems with watching it, I was entertained enough, but it's no Spirits Within, it's hardly even a movie more like two hour long trailer to post FF7 world.

getting back to steam business, no FF9 on steam for this event either. So what SE is waiting for exactly?

Which Groupee bundles are the generally good ones and which are ones to stay away? I picked up Be Mine Anniversary 3 bundle earlier and that turned out well.

Be Mine are better ones, but if you think preoders it's still a lottery, there was at least one BM bundle that wasn't all that good.
