Rumor: Xbox E3 info (Zombie game, Battletoads, Forza Horizon, AoE, more)

Xion_Stellar

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like
I'm just going to cross my fingers and assume this rumor list forgot to include a new AAA JRPG from Mistwalker with CyberConnect2 doing the legwork.

Obviously.
Don't fool yourself now CC2 is too busy helping with FFVIIR,making a VR game and their Project Venom using Unreal Engine 4. They got not manpower or time to spare for Mistwalker.

Was leaning toward fake, but this might be dull enough to be true. Not much here piques my interest but I'm happy to withhold judgment until the actual conference.

But don't bet on it appearing at E3. Don't know how far along it is.

On March 16th the Dead Rising twitter account started being very active and has been since then. To me this indicates that they have some sort of announcement in the pipeline coming soon.

Maybe its just because I really want a DR4 :), but I can't see why they would bother putting in the work if there isn't a game coming soon. Or maybe they just hired a marketing person to look after the brand.

One thing that's notable about this list is that coming off Sony's legendary E3 conference last year this rumour is surprisingly underwhelming. As in you would have thought Microsoft would be rebounding and coming out swinging given they were outclassed so spectacularly last year. My instinct tells me this list might be either guesswork or just incomplete. Potentially missing one or two surprises. Microsoft should theoretically be doubling down this year to try and match whatever Sony have in store.

Regarding Battletoads it really depends on Rare's work on the game. Rare are still a talented studio so if they bring their A-game it could be good.

You say that like you can just pull up 15 year games-in-waiting to have a good E3 show...

Haha true! I agree. Nothing will probably top Sony's conference for a while. Just thought Microsoft would have become more aggressive given the fallout and have some cool surprises in store. Nothing on the level of FFVIIR or Shenmue 3 since that's impossible but at least a better show than last year. From what I remember of last year they only had one megaton with backwards compatibility. Outside of that Recore and Rare's new IP. It was quite an underwhelming conference. Just hoping this year's is superior.

A new AoE sounds cool, just dumped a couple of hours in AoE 2.

But. AoE is a perfect F2P candidate. This worries me.

Concerning Battletoads, I don't think there's a huge market for classic platformers outside of a Nintendo console anymore. So, my guess is that this game will be called "Battletoads", but that doesn't mean it has to be a platformer. Maybe it will be a 3D J&R like Crash Bandicoot?

Yeah, I think that is just an issue of history. What does MS have in their Xbox history that could blow the roof off one of their conferences? Personally, that would be a Jade Empire reboot for me but I guess it would be considerably tougher for MS to make announcements on par with what Sony did last year.

With that being said, they can still have some great stuff. Phantom Dust back in development, Jade Empire, Banjo, etc...

A new zombie game? I hope it's a new IP. Games like The Last of Us, Dying Light and State of Decay all sold really well.

Exactly! A Jade Empire reboot would be divine. Loved that game back in the day along with all of Bioware's work from that era (so KOTOR and so on). Banjo is like their most requested game ever and Rare are capable of working on multiple projects so it's possible. I think with Yooka Laylee being so popular and making waves perhaps Microsoft are reconsidering it?

I was thinking maybe Microsoft had some aggressive acquisitions in store (when MS is backed in to a corner they tend to take out their wallets). So Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break. Basically promising exclusives from other studios. I guess we'll see.

So.. there's more news coming today.. maybe?

Guy seems to work to Microsoft..

Crackdown related?

Ekim is also reporting some news coming today

Exciting!

Could be during Gamescom as well, very possible. Assuming MS is holding a press conference there.

Lately MS E3 shows have been fine, nothing earth shattering or anything but just really find. I don't know what to expect from this E3, but I hope there is a lot more to this along with of course Crackdown, Gears 4 and so on.

Well with the state Capcom is in, I didn't want to assume DR4 was guaranteed as I don't recall DR3 doing all that well.

Maybe MS is funding it again?

Capcom's financial state is frequently exaggerated. They're doing much better now financially then they did 2-3 years ago.

If MS is funding it, it would mitigate a lot of the risk, similar to SF5.

I don't think they would take the plunge considering DR3 didn't exactly do well. Hoping Capcom themselfs would fund it. And have it on both platforms. Would seem like a no brainer.

It sold 1.3m despite being exclusive to the platform and it launching when very few owned an Xbox One. Remember, exclusives are often less about sales and more about proving the attractiveness of the hardware. DR4 would likely have begun development when Capcom would have been a lot more careful about greenlighting new titles.

Chances Windows 10 merger brings Steam to X1 (aka rebranded "Xbox Systems")?

I have a weird hunch some form of it may arrive. (With nothing to back it but a curious guess)

Jade Empire is one of my top ten favorites of all time. I am a PS gamer but let me tell you, a true to form Jade Empire reboot would have me losing it. I would probably consider a X1/PC at that point. It would be a volcanic eruption megaton.

Yep, I am thinking we are going to one or two third party developed IP out of the conference. We shall see indeed!

And have people buy games on steam instead of their own marketplace? MS wants to make money when you buy games

Windows 10 Microsoft games have to be bought through MS digitally or on Disc for your "Xbox".

It would simply give you your Steam games with presets to run each game.

This is impossible guys, stop with this. MS makes money with windows store, not steam.

Capcom isn't taking the mick, mate. Dead Rising 4 is coming.

DR3 was great.
Yeah, DR3 is my second favorite Dead Rising game. I thought I liked 2 more at first, probably because 3 was just a little different and I was used to 2, but I enjoy replaying it a lot more than 2. I'd love to see a 4.

Forza Horizon in Australia sounds like a great location.

Wasn't there some rumors about Age of Empires last year, or was that something related to what would later be revealed as Halo Wars 2? Geez, my memory sucks nowadays.

Again, they make money when you buy CoD on disc or their marketplace. If you buy CoD on Steam, which is also a couple of dollars cheaper, they make zero money

There's always a way. Lol

Let a man dream of the PC and Xbox becoming one.

And also the mismatched specs,

this is never happening.

My oldest gaming rig (AMD X4, 4GB Ram, GTX460) still runs most Steam games at 30fps+. Granted, not as well as my i7/980Ti, but set configurations could maintain that :p

Is this serious? Do you really think MS wants to introduce a new way for you to buy games to their system which requires them to give another company a cut? Why wouldn't they just use their existing store? It's one of the benefits of them having a closed system.

I don't disagree, just coming up with a scenerio. Perhaps just an app that allows older/compatable games.

Yeah, I know...no chance :(.

Edit: I love the moderation going on in this thread. So satisfying to see the vetting of information, or more accurately, the lack thereof.

I'm going to assume that's not all MS has to talk about because I can't see them spending too much time talking about the Slim model and Scorpio is that's all the content they have to show. I think it would be disappointing to make their new console the main focus this early.

So I'm going to say that "leak" list is just a small portion of their conference.

You have good taste! More than good actually. Jade Empire was a phenomenal game. Like the perfect follow up to their KOTOR formula. Loved it dearly when it came out. A reboot is possible! MS could definitely revisit the IP at some point.

And yeah I think one or two third party heavy hitters that could be exclusive will definitely be there. MS had Recore last year so I'm expecting something similar from them this time round.

E3 is so close now. Can't wait for the show to start!

So I'm going to say that "leak" least is just a small portion of their conference.

Yeah this is what I'm going with. The list is true but it's notably incomplete. There just aren't enough surprises or even games there to justify a full conference. It's a partial leak and not an outline of the entire conference IMO. Excited to see what MS have in store regardless.

DR3 was the best selling launch title. There will very obviously be a DR4.

My cousin went to Japan and bought it there.
