The Direct Rollout Begins. Just you wait they'll announce this thing two weeks from now.
At this point, it's almost clear that her Amiibo is being saved for the NX port of Smash 4. Same for Cloud & Corrin.
Ohhh that would be amazing but don't think that'll happen. 3DS already has Pokémon Sun/Moon so they can get away with just that game to pass the holidays. Even more now thanks to Pokémon Go hype. But yeah a 3D Remaster of Mario Galaxy would be amazing :'( I would buy a New 3DS in a heartbeat if it was exclusive for it.

Does anyone else that has followed nintendo for a while feel that it is extremely weird to get this announcement AFTER a rando tweet with Reggie revealed a rando new skin for 3Ds?
I don't think the Direct being on the 1st Day of September is a coincidence.
They won't talk about the NX, but they might just tease the reveal for the end of the month.

I'm thinking they filmed the new Nintendo 3DS video when they filmed the Direct. Guess they didn't want to add it to the Direct for some reason. Maybe the Direct would be too long if they added it.

I predict some kind of weird announcement wich will explain the reason of that. Or maybe Reggie just wanted to show off his tan now that he came back from vacations.

I remember thinking this during the March direct.
I was actually just thinking the same thing, but I was worried that someone would think I'm overly optimistic if I did.
How long's it been since the last Direct, by the way? Feels like forever.

This isn't 1996 anymore.
The PS4 and XBO barely had that between their actual reveal and release, maybe a month or two more. Information spreads a lot faster now, they don't need to rely on TV Shows and magazines to spread the word. It's instant so smaller reveal to release periods are better. Too long and people stop caring.
So you're of the thought that Nintendo's gonna do another delay?

Well, this would certainly be an interesting experiment. I'd almost like to see Nintendo market a brand new platform over the course of two months.

Well at least they said what they're talking about. Be worse if they said nothing and we got disappointed.
The problem with Nintendo is that they're coming off of an all-time low. People instantly know PlayStation & Xbox. And while people do know Nintendo, they don't have a consistent name besides the Wii, which is dead as a brand. Nintendo needs all the time they can get to advertise the NX. Unless Nintendo's delaying the NX to November or something, waiting until after Sun/Moon hits the 3DS won't leave Nintendo with enough time.

I really don't think this matters. If the product is truly different and desirable, five months is enough time. If it were simply Nintendo's version of the PS4, then maybe it wouldn't be.
I think Nintendo's decision to reveal NX for the first time so close to launch shows they're confident and proud of the device and want its first impression to be a very lasting one. I don't think it's because they're scrambling to get things done (although they're obviously very busy!).

There is no way they can wait that long if it comes out in March.
Forget even the system itself. They need to announce and sell games for this thing too. Devs/indies need to hear about it and what it is.

Remember Nintendo always said "This Fall we'll speak more of the NX" so late-September is definitely possible. Maybe even October.
I'm just optimistic because at least they're doing some blowout for the one of their platforms out now. Wii U has been dead for some time besides a few indies games + Paper Mario and the latter has been getting those funny Toad miniseries videos on Youtube as a type of marketing. This will probably be the last big 3DS news blowout for the Holiday....which would leave us with nothing BUT the NX to talk about!

I'm excited about more Pokemon Sun/Moon footage and Dragon Quest information (VIII release date).

Yeah, it was confirmed to their shareholders. Pushing it back any further would put it outside the fiscal year, which could have some serious blowback.

I mean, they can create a brand new amiibo line for NX, no reason to deprive from Bayomiibo
