So Jebailey says he's against patching because it comes out tomorrow, but he's taking feedback on it. Honestly, it sounds like there shouldn't be any issues even if you have only one day to mess with it.

Putting out an APB. If anyone knows anyone at CEOTaku who can help us with a stream setup for the Florida/California Catherine 3v3, please let me know. It's gonna be insane, make no mistake.

anyone here use powerline adapters?

Had to move my setup to another room further away from my router so I'm stuck with wireless at the moment.
How well they work depends on the wiring in your house.

For me it performs just as well as a wired connection.

hey tripon, please include this event in this weekend's tournament thread if you haven't.

new legacy is a exhibition event co-organised by esl, next level and team spooky, acting as a prelude to esl nyc this weekend.

they have a crowdfunding site set up to crowdfund the pot bonus for their side tournament that's happening on the same day.

if the stretch goals are indeed real, i'm very excited for the event mainly because of chris hu singing on stream. it's been a long time since i've heard chris hu's angelic voice.

I would've like to see Wolfkrone vs Alucard.

Alucard thinks Laura is the worst character in the game so I want to see how he'd handle Krone's Laura with Birdie.

Oh, then yea, some character tiers could change on how easy things are to react to, but wonky hitboxes on jump-ins, Chun, and a few other things will stay the same IMO.

I wish Capcom would stop flirting with the idea that jumping in can be a viable neutral approach. The sole value of jumping should be to punish special moves.

if there's one thing that makes me the most upset about SFV is this and this

just turn your brain off and hold up + forward lol, it's like every character has a dr. doom divekick. AA'ing is a hazard in this game (unless you got that 3f AA jab that might as well be invincible)

Post I made from yesterday. They just have to fix like.. majority of the hitboxes on AA's to make sure them shits actually work or fix the hurtbox/hitbox on jump ins so they're not Dr. Doom/Helm breaker status.

XRD players, we will NOT be updating to the new patch for #CEOtaku. I'd turn off Internet connection before tonight to avoid it for practice

Welp, there it is.

Yup.

Jumping has different meanings in different fighting games. In anime fighters, air dashing is an approach of roughly equal value to dashing in. It's just another option to close the gap and get in. In standard fighters, jumping solely exists to mitigate the power of fireballs, and there's a rock-paper-scissors that goes on there. If you make jumping good for anything else in a standard fighter, then you're giving it too much power.

might as well give characters with jumps like that divekicks in a game with less dp's and weaker AAs

oh wait Necalli has a divekick

The sole value of jumping should be to punish special moves.

The obvious counter to this is "says who?"

Who decided what the purpose of jumping "should" be? New game, new ecosystem.

Also, you can't have people claiming jumping is too good AND people claiming that AA lights are too good. One of those camps is lying.

Jumping is too good. Lights just happen to be the best answer to it in many cases. This puts the risk/reward heavily in favor of jump ins.

Jump in: Rewarded with big fat combo on hit, on block you get a mix up/pressure, if punished you take small damage and lose some initiative.

Anti air: Rewarded with small damage and some initiative, if you miss it it you are punished by taking big damage.

I think you messed up your quote.

Anyway in regards to AA lights, I was gonna add it in the comment but I think I already posted about it here.

My issue with AA lights are the characters that have it while having an invincible DP and that you can mess up on the ground and still have time to AA properly. For example; Chun does st.HP, opponent jumps at the same time -> st.LK -> 50/50. Chun does lp. fireball -> opponent jumps on reaction -> st.LK -> 50/50. Necalli does a far seismo -> opponent jumps -> st.LP -> 50/50. Necalli does st.HK -> opponent jumps -> st.LP -> 50/50. That's where I feel the real strength of AA lights come from. Doing a move with a lot of recovery but still having that 3f gap to AA when most of the cast would be forced to block and hold the pressure.

And st.LP's can beat out cross ups and regular jump ins. My real issue with it is that the characters that do have it, don't need it because they have other buttons or a DP that can work. They should fix the other AA buttons to work more consistently instead of st.LP having a hitbox of an ex DP. I agree with Alex having it because his cr.HP is barely viable as an AA and his ex. Knee is okay at best.

Like in the video I posted, why is Urien's cr.HP getting completely shitted on when a st.LP from Ryu/Necalli would've worked perfectly? It shouldn't be like that, it's really really dumb. Tons of hitboxes on normals that are used as AA's need to be reworked and st.LP's shouldn't stuff out the sun.
