Capcom is happy with Dead Rising 4 and Streer Fighter 5.
They are "firm" not happy... both did way less than Capcom projected.

The comments are way different for RE7... it is doing better than projections.

That didn't change the sales declive is really awful in Japan.

We have to wait until March for that. What if they can only ship 500k the rest of the quarter. That would mean 1 million less than expected.

Well Capcom looks to be happy with RE7 sales (and on track to beat projections) while Capcom was disappointed with RE6 sales... that tells a lot.

yeah, it's not surprising, because:

Resident Evil 6 boasts 600 developers
...
"Between the 150 staff members in Japan and everyone around the world, we have more than 600 people involved. A lot of work has gone into this game,"

Capcom is happy with Dead Rising 4 and Streer Fighter 5.

The word with DR4 was firm and SFV while having lows sales seems to be big with the FGC.

RE6 was a bloated game with a ridiculous dev team size and poorly received. RE7 sales will be less but I bet production wasn't nearly as big, costs were down and the reception has been great.

If Capcom expect two million for Double Cross, they will have to still wait for that. Next stop, XX, with the added of mega bomba not hitting the million mark, another Sukiyaki.

This is what happens when you try to return to the "roots" of a series no one wants to return to, and do "innovative" things like introduce a new character with no ties to the series mythology.

Here's a wake up call to Capcom - People don't buy Resident Evil to be scared, they buy it to play as Chris Redfield, punch boulders, and shoot armies of zombies. More shooting, less scaring.

Get it right with Resident Evil 8 and you might have a change of salvaging the franchise.

I mean, at least they made a game that doesn't suck?

If RE7 reaches 4 million at March 31st Capcom will use the same baseline for RE8... btw I was checking and over 4.2 million already reaches TOP5 in Capcom best sellers.

I'm sure if RE7 reaches 4 million at March 31st Capcom will use the same baseline for RE8.

But they won't because horror doesn't sell. No one wants to be scared. Less scare more shoot. Bang bang bang. I don't want to play Resident Jump Scare, I want to play Resident Zombie Massacre.

Yeah shame on Capcom for taking a risk and making a good Resident Evil game for a change.

You say "good", I say "irresponsible". As a corporate entity existing only to produce entertainment products for the mass market, Capcom has a duty to their fans and their shareholders. They must make what people want, not what no one asked for. I'm glad this tanked in the land of the rising sun.

Does someone have any numbers on how well the Mass Effect games(and Dragon Age if you have them) did in Japan? Trying to figure out how well Andromeda might do.

It'll do well worldwide making Japan sales even more irrelevant. I'm sure you'll get some gacha RE game on mobile at some point so you and the shareholders are happy.

I'm not being sarcastic. I hate horror. :p
Ohhhhh you...

I remember playing the original trilogy in friend's houses and going back to home alone at 10pm at 12 years old... I was scare about everything walking in the middle of the way thinking that a Tyrant will jump from the wall or trees lol

I wonder how a third person title with the ability for Capcom to advertise easily visible, attractive action hero RE characters would have performed.

Resident Evil becoming "niche" in Japan (Worldwide too, just waiting for concrete numbers) with this direction was to be expected.
First person, too scary in a disgusting kind of way, no lovable characters.
If RE8 follows the same path, sales will go down. RE7 used the concept quite fully already.

I wish I could be in Capcom HQ for the scramble that is about to go down in the next 90 days. I feel a momentum shift people.

seems kinda premature looking at sales just from japan. if it hits the 4m target by end of march then along with positive critical reception i think capcom will be happy and they can expand on this game for the next entry. obviously that is a big if....

had my doubts about this being a troll comment lol but the point still stands for some of the others comments

Well I hope it doesn't. I need my action. RE7 was a betrayal.

It's been out for over a week and it doesn't even have 300k in sales on Steam. So much for doing well worldwide.

https://steamspy.com/app/379720

DOOM has over 1.5 million in sales on Steam. If Capcom didn't fuck the series up and made RE7 an action game like DOOM, I'm sure it would have sold much more by now.

Resident Evil 7 dominating 2017 besides Zelda. If only Gravity Rush 2 were a first person horror game it would have sold much more by now. :(

Worst first week for a mainline Resident Evil gamr on a PlayStation platform, third worst overall only 4 and the Remake on NGC did worse, 7 starts lower than Code Veronica on the Dreamcast, and it won't sell more than it.

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
New interesting first person approach for RE7 was the right move since they got the critical reception the series needed after the lackluster RE6. If they offer the traditional 3rd Person experience RE fans expect with RE2Remake everything should workout fine.

I don't think it will do that bad, that's a Dead Rising 4 level bomb.

I think we're looking at a final fantasy 15 situation with Re7. The numbers have declined from past titles but it sold so well in the west that it makes up and then some with its total sales. I think Capcom has a shot hitting 4 million shipped by March 31st but we'll see.

If you think it will reach sales of RE5 and 6 good luck.
