Finished Iron Fist. The were some aspects of it I enjoyed, but overall the writing was wack and inconsistent, and the fights sucked. Regardless of any of the issues the other Marvel Netflix series have, at least it felt like the people behind them had visions for their respective series. Iron Fist felt like they were making it because they had to.

I'm curious to see how they handle Danny in the Defenders, and whether better writing can save him.

On ya'll's recommendation I watched all of season 1 of Into the Bandlands and the first episode of season 2 and...going from that to Iron Fist was painful.

I still say Ward was the best part of the show.
He actually had a proper arc.

I mean, which franchises are universally praised when they release and which franchises have had mediocre to bad releases consistently, only within the last console generation having made games that people actually liked?

I've got my first class at 10:30 but I want to push it to see how late I can leave and still find a parking space close to the building. If it's anything like last quarter I should have until around 8 but with it being the first day of the new quarter I'm not so sure.

Thinking of rewatching JoJo Stardust Crusaders with the dubbed version purely because Ansem SoD/Raiden is Joseph Joestar's voice actor.

I came into the show thinking he was a weird bootleg Tommy from Arrow, but yeah, I actually finished the show enjoying his character. He really did a complete 180 and actual had reasonable development

Maybe just start there and go down the thread but there might be some stuff above it or whatever.

Basically the main point is how black women marry down class lines more than anyone else in America, and it actually hurts them.

I don't think I have to go over the problems with the black dating market in this thread and how black women are treated in this area in general. One thing about this I think is interesting though is how this is another way in which white American society is starting to mirror that of minorities economically in this country. I think there was a study in a news report not extremely long ago revealing that the number of marriageable men does indeed go down when the economy overall goes down, and an oft repeated news topic of the last few years has been the "dating apocalypse," or how educated professional women are having a harder time finding "good" men. Meanwhile, we got these threads now about how the health of white men is in decline both mentally and physically and how that's starting to close the gap between whites and minorities, specifically black people. Basically, the problems that have been plaguing the black dating market are beginning to creep up in the dating market overall because greater economic shifts over the years. I think the worst-case-scenario end-point is basically where Japan is now.

Oh and there's also how successful black men are the most likely to marry out racially.

Bumping this, because I was too tired to comment when I saw it last night-ish (it was like 1am). I don't think the worst case scenario is what I envision happening. I think if anything, we'll see a sharp rise in interracial dating (well, less WM-minority female couples) as white men increasingly suffer from the problems minorities have already been facing and know how to cope with and handle.

As for black women marrying down, I'm assuming this is because of the combination of:
1. Them being more educated then black men, on average
2. Them being more likely to primarily black men (mainly because of the well known discrimination they face outside their race when it comes to dating).
I'm actually not sure what to make of it. I can't see either of those issues drastically changing anytime soon. I think you're right that you might start to see a situation similar to China's "leftover women"
