shoot, just recently found out my youngest sister was a "slave" to this rich white girl, who is part of a local political dynasty. In return for "friendship" and such, she would do the girl's homework etc. and hang out on their huge acres of land with their hillbilly cousins. I bet most people don't realize the mess the last 2 generations have had to put up with in an "integrated" society. Just to be friends with white people.

It's a strange thing to contemplate.

That's fucked. I was kinda fortunate with my white friends/acquaintances growing up. All wanted to hang, fought with their parents/girlfriends/boyfriends just to roll through. They knew I wasn't comfortable going to their spots because of shit like that. They were always honest..possibly to a fault, but I'd rather know what their people think of me so I know them smiles are crooked for a reason.

Jesus Christ. White people were and still are a minority in my area of the city. It's dominantly POC (brown and black, specifically). I guess because of this, they were kinda forced to hang. If they have/had racist views, we don't/didn't know them, but that's 'cause they're not in positions that it's possible to vocalize them comfortably. Amen for that.

I'd say there was less than 20 white people I knew before graduating from high school, across all years of schooling leading up to then. For the most part, all acquaintances. Only close to one, still am to this day.

A lot of times parents try to protect their kids from the realities of race, so when they get bombarded with the hateful bullshit dressed up as legit opinions on the net that's all they have to form their understanding.

I gotta put this down here and hopefully start a discussion. It's a thread made of a bunch of retweets and replies and whatnot eventually referencing a book on what's wrong with the black dating market.

Maybe just start there and go down the thread but there might be some stuff above it or whatever.

Basically the main point is how black women marry down class lines more than anyone else in America, and it actually hurts them.

I don't think I have to go over the problems with the black dating market in this thread and how black women are treated in this area in general. One thing about this I think is interesting though is how this is another way in which white American society is starting to mirror that of minorities economically in this country. I think there was a study in a news report not extremely long ago revealing that the number of marriageable men does indeed go down when the economy overall goes down, and an oft repeated news topic of the last few years has been the "dating apocalypse," or how educated professional women are having a harder time finding "good" men. Meanwhile, we got these threads now about how the health of white men is in decline both mentally and physically and how that's starting to close the gap between whites and minorities, specifically black people. Basically, the problems that have been plaguing the black dating market are beginning to creep up in the dating market overall because greater economic shifts over the years. I think the worst-case-scenario end-point is basically where Japan is now.

Oh and there's also how successful black men are the most likely to marry out racially.

Finished Iron Fist. The were some aspects of it I enjoyed, but overall the writing was wack and inconsistent, and the fights sucked. Regardless of any of the issues the other Marvel Netflix series have, at least it felt like the people behind them had visions for their respective series. Iron Fist felt like they were making it because they had to.

I'm curious to see how they handle Danny in the Defenders, and whether better writing can save him.

On ya'll's recommendation I watched all of season 1 of Into the Bandlands and the first episode of season 2 and...going from that to Iron Fist was painful.

Hey! I hope everyone is doing well. I haven't posted in here in a while but always glad to see things are still trucking along in here. Crazy times (and I just saw a friend of sooperkool's died? My condolences) but at least we can take little pleasures in things like Trump falling flat on his face for his first piece of big legislation <3

As an aside, have we talked about in here how Snoop Dogg is seemingly caught in the weeb-vortex (slightly nsfw)?

So, just downloaded Crunchyroll and i am watching Gintama. Pretty decent so far, but are there any other shows i should watch on here? Dragonball Super? I already watched Diamond is unbreakable. You guys got any suggestions?
