New info on Google Pixel 2: You're not gonna like it...

The one major change is that the device will reportedly feature stereo speakers at the expense of a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Please don't encourage those monsters that listen to their music from a fucking phone without headphones in public.

If they're doing this to keep the cost low then that's fine. A good baseline phone for consumers is what is really needed. Having the pixel and one plus will definitely make things interesting.

You are insane. The S8 feels great in the hand. Best feeling phone I've held. Skipping it because of samsung software though. Not worth it.

Between how thin it is and the edgeless screen... It just doesn't feel stable in my hand at all. Always get the feeling I'm about to drop it. Looks pretty though.

My pixel camera still impresses my wife with her iPhone 6. She's waiting on the 8 but still asks me to take a picture. Smooth performance, great camera.

There's also a possibility of the inclusion of a headphone jack with the larger iteration of the device bit not the smaller (according to some rumors).

GAF is the only community I've experienced on the internet where the news of no headphone jack is seemingly a sign of the end times. What an overreaction.

Reminds me of Bendgate, which was also meant to be the end of Apple, at least according to GAF. Yeah...

Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.
extremely disappointing if true.

Beside the overall design, Pixel XL was just PERFECT smartphone. And they put that thing together in less than a year. I was really really hoping for Google to make a big splash this year when they come out with the successor given enough development time

I have already ordered S8+ last week taking advantage of the Samsung trade in deal and extra $100 discount. But I was going to buy sell it this holiday for pixel 2. Now if these rumors are true, I might just skip it and keep my S8+

Whenever I read that an upcoming phone has no headphone jack I just laugh and then ignore the phone completely from that point forward.

Nah bruh, YOU pay the ever rising cost of these phones and lose out on high quality audio ports for "reasons" while I pay the same price and retain the benefit along with everything else you get as well.

I'm good over here.

If I'm paying a premium price I would like it all.

Disappointing if true. Yet as others noted there were similar rumors for the Galaxy S8, which never happened.

I seriously hope this isn't true, I'm overdue getting myself a new phone and wanted the Pixel 2 to be it >_<

It'll be a Note 8 for me if this is true.

Yeah I'm going Samsung if Google fucks this up. They have to be massive morons to chase Apple and expect the same success, but here we are.

Maybe they are going to try keep the cost low? Doesn't really seem like they wanted to go pound for pound with Samsung.
This is not mid-range phone so we can ignore some missing features . This is a premium smartphone who share the same price with Samsung and Apple flagships so you cant expect somthing less.

If the headphone jack is removed and stays removed for the Pixel 3 and 4, looks like I'm unfortunately going to have to buy an iPhone. First world problems.

*sigh*. I guess if I have to use an adapter I will. I'm happy about the dual front speakers though. My phone has the camera hump and it hasn't been an issue.

Yeah, nah. As a Nexus 6P user with awful battery life experiences overallk requiring me to have a mobile battery attached to my phone a lot, I'm not going to walk around with some dongle adapter splitter so I can use a battery and headphones at the same time.

But it's ok, I was looking to downsize phones anyway so I don't think I would have gotten a PIxel.

Ah yes, many will flock to the iPhone for its inclusion of a headphone jack.

So then this would be a downgrade for my Nexus 5X then if the no headphone jack really is true. At least I can probably get the original pixel when it drops in price.

For me, as someone who has only ever owned Nexus phones (smartphones) and won't stand for TouchWiz or any of that bullshit we are at a point now where the vanilla Android phone is the same price as the iPhone, neither will have a headphone jack and the Pixel isn't going to be waterproof.

I'm considering switching having hung onto my Nexus 6P, it's not like apps are enough to keep me in one place, it's nice to try other things.

Ooh man if i could flash a S8 or S9 with custom android easily i would so be on it.
I will just keep getting one plus devices, average looking phone awesome android skin.

Ha ha, I get how that sounds. Last year, I was very close to buying the iPhone 7S because of the camera, but losing the headphone jack was a deal breaker or selling point for the Pixel for me. I prefer Android, but only a pure Android/Google experience. I hate Samsung and the crap software they add to their phones. If the rumor is true, I'll have to eat shit and get a fucking piece of shit dongle and an iPhone when the Pixel Xl is no longer supported. At least I'll have longer support with the iPhone and less security concerns, although I feel iOS is so antiquated and restrictive. Ugh.

I find iOS too hideous to use. That said, seeing as I want a smaller phone and don't want some non-native android garbage, I don't know what I would buy.

I want an Xperia X Compact without a skin.

All I want in a phone:
- Stock Android
- 2K or higher screen around 5.5 inches
- Waterproof
- Headphone Jack

Why is this so hard? ;__________;

I'd even suck it up and live without a headphone jack if I could get the first 3.

Not sure if people are being intentionally dense. It says no headphone jack, not that it won't be possible to use headphones.

Let me guess, everyone plugs their phone into an ethernet port to get internet

Speaking of being not sure about someone being intentionally dense.

Not sure if you're being intentionally dense but some people have wired headphones and prefer to use them while charging their phone dongle free.

Let me guess, no one enjoys having options?

So get new headphones? Welcome to the future, before long samsung will be on board too. There is a perfectly reasonable alternative to headphones that moving towards allows manufacturers to drastically improve other aspects of the phone. Headphone jacks are dead, like cd players and other obsolete technologies. The only question is how you come to terms with it

You can even just get an adapter to continue using your wired headphone via Bluetooth

Wait, how do you defend the lack of a headphone jack? How do you listen to audio on your phone, then?

Bluetooth? I don't want to listen to music wirelessly. Why spend more money to buy new headphones just because of a phone? Y'all must be rich or something. CD players died a long time ago, that's a false equivalence and you know it.

You didn't address the pretty common desire to charge while using headphones. Now you need to carry a splitter dongle everywhere. It's super inconvenient.
