The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind |OT| Why walk when you can ride?

So I bought a Steam controller and decided to reinstall the game on Steam...big mistake. I keep getting 'Error 206' and no troubleshooting seems to help. Anyone else who has encountered this issue?

I want to get into The Elder Scrolls games and I'm debating between ESO or Skyrim. I hear ESO can be played as if it was a single player game.

How is the grinding in ESO?

Is the PS4 population huge?

If you want to "get into the Elder Scrolls games," you really should start with Skyrim, not ESO. Skyrim is one in a long line of singleplayer Elder Scrolls games developed by Bethesda, who created the series. ESO is an MMO spinoff, created by a different developer.

Thanks for your input on this. Skyrim it is. I'm just waiting to catch it on a PS store sale now.

I'd agree with Anderson DL.

I love ESO, but it isn't really an Elder Scrolls game.

Eh, I don't agree with ESO "not being an Elder Scrolls game."

Sure, it's not as open world as the single-player titles and some things had to have been cut or toned down since it's an MMO but you could definitely play ESO by yourself like a regular TES game if you wish.

Even playing alone, I just feel like it's a completely different kind of experience. You can't even use the first-person camera w/o nerfing the hell out yourself.

They've made good strides in making it feel more like an Elder Scrolls game, but Elder Scrolls biggest strength is its world design and that's where ESO fumbles. Elder Scrolls since Morrowind has always had micro detail within the environment and a dense world space. ESO can't do that as an MMO, th overall design is much more samey, with lots of negative space of empty fields. It feels like a theme park version of the real thing.

Got to the final encounter in
the Clockwork City
and got disconnected. Reconnect... back in
the Archcanon's office.
Ughhhhh, guess I'm running it again tomorrow.

In the meantime, I have crowns I want to use toward a house, but I have no idea which one I should go for. I kind of want to go for one in Skyrim, but it's a shame that there are none of the biggest tier of houses there. Though I may just use my crowns on something else and buy a house with gold. I'd kind of like the house to be an "earned" endgame thing, it'll probably be more satisfying that way.

Grinding is really easy. There are almost always enormous groups running dolemns in alikr desert, and you can find groups of people killing bears at sunken road wayshrine as well

Don't spend crowns on a house. It's a waste, IMO. They really serve no purpose currently unless you're really into collecting and designing a sick looking house but once that's done there's no reason to be there. lol

I'd just save up gold and buy a nice medium sized house which usually run between 200K-400K depending on which one you get.

Yeah the really big houses man.. I dunno, they look cool, but the fact that there is no storage or anything kind of makes them just giant empty ghost areas. Works as a guild hall, but that's about it, IMO.

What does that get me that the Gold edition doesn't have?

Only the Shadow of the Hist 2 dungeon DLC I assume which isn't really interesting for new players. There's another pair of hard dungeons coming out in a couple of weeks but by the time you'll be able to enjoy it you might buy something else.

Speaking out of experience those bank space and learning scrolls are too overpriced and you need to spend too many crowns to get a meaningful effect out of them. Plus they can be bought with gold which isn't exactly hard to get. Spend your crowns on stuff you can only get from the crown store like mounts, costumes, even crates. Maybe a semi nice house since that'll save you at least a bunch of gold. You can save for later DLC but I'd spend it for cosmetics or housing since the scrolls, food and whatnot is overpriced and inferior stuff, already available for a little bit of gold.

So, what should I do if I bought the game a week or so ago, registered my account, redeemed my code, now when I go to log into the website so I can download the installer (just set up my computer) it gives me a "log in information incorrect" error. Reset password successful, enter newly set password, same error.

Weird situation..

I downloaded Tamriel Unlimited a few months back when the free week was up.

A few friends are getting into this so I'm tempted to give it a go, but it's not allowing me to purchase the bundle with Tamriel Unlimited/Morrowind.

The reason given is that I already own Tamriel Unlimited - although I still have the option of buying that standalone on the store.

Re downloaded the client via my PS4 library, and finally completed the 60gb but now the servers are down for maintenance so haven't been able to get further...

I'd presume that it's going to prompt me to buy it once everything is up?

This is £16 on Amazon atm for ps4. Just to confirm if i but this retail release it gets the full Tamriel Unlimited base game, the morrowind expansion but not the dlc you buy with Crowns?

I've seen this and would also like to know.

Seems too good to be true.

I need a link to the version you're referring to in order to say for sure, but maybe this will help:

ESO: Tamriel Unlimited is the entire base game plus the (free) Craglorn DLC.

ESO: Morrowind is the Morrowind Expansion plus Tamriel Unlimited (above).

ESO: Gold Edition is Tamriel Unlimited plus the four paid big DLC: Imperial City, Orsinium, Thieves' Guild and Dark Brotherhood (but NOT the Morrowind expansion.)

There are also dungeon DLC, Shadows of the Hist as well as the Horns of the Reach being released later this month that aren't collected.

I made it into the second tier of writs for most of my crafting skills now and I'm at a loss for where to find the new supplies I need.

Thanks for clarification, it's this so it is the base game and expansion.

What? I would say it's the complete opposite. Open world scale compression is perhaps my biggest pet peeve with the entire format. The single player games are bad enough when it comes to unnaturally small scale, but MMORPGs are on a whole different tier with how ultra-dense and compressed they are. I can't even get any good vista screenshots of the scenery because all the zones are so packed with disparate sub-locations all sitting right next to eachother.

The only exception is the Cyrodiil PvP area which was given some actual room to breathe, primarily as a means of regulating the pacing of the siege battles.

Yep just grabbed the Morrowind deal at Amazon, picked up the Gold Premium on PSN store a while ago when it was on offer for about £27 which seemed a bargain to include all the DLC plus 5500 crowns

I still haven't tried the PvP in ESO.

Coming from Guild Wars 1/2 which had amazing PvP, what can I expect from this one?

I am no PvP expert in this game by any means but from the small amount I played it's honestly not that good. I never really played GW2 PvP either but I believe they have similar styles with the AvA battlefield aspect.

I also played during the PvP event so I am sure more people were in Cryodiil than normal so it was very laggy with some bad latency issues for me. It was all very chaotic and zergy. Lots of crazy AoE spells going off everywhere makes it confusing. The PvP is a completely separate mode from PvE so if you don't have gear and a build specifically for PvP you will get destroyed. I was dieing in 2 hits sometimes.

There was some cool moments like all 3 factions battling over a single keep and making a great offensive push or defensive stand in a keep can be exhilarating but capturing keeps is a constant back and forth so you never really feel like you accomplish anything.

If you buy Morrowind it has a mode called Battlegrounds which is a 4v4v4 arena style PvP with TDM, CTF, territory mode, and a ball mode similar to something like Oddball from Halo.

ESO PVE is vastly superior to GW2 I reckon.

GW2 PVP is superior to ESO's, but not by as big of a margin: battlegrounds has narrowed this significantly...and if they keep refining it, may draw it up even I think.

The only downside is level requirements to be competitive; I wouldn't hit PVP in Cyrodiil until 50 at least or mid CP.

I've enjoyed them. Difficulty is similar to the Hist dungeons.

First time through, I purposely went through with people who wanted to take their time and do the story, and I'd recommend that.

As far as repeatability, they're OK. Some of the mini-bosses have some cool mechanics.

Has the over-world micro-stutter/lag been fixed on PS4? I haven't been on in a while and am hesitant to go back.. the game has been a shit-show for me since Morrowind came out.

No, it's the same micro-stuttering issue all over. And also game is lagging badly when in Dungeon Queue. Unplayable.

Anyone playing PS4, Europe that is a crafter that can make armor/weapons?

I reached CP 160+ last week, and thought to upgrade to some new/better gear.

I'm going to be honest though I do not have much gold (if it's expensive to craft these) nor do I have lots of (or any actually) mats stored because very small inventory/storage, so any payment would have to be as a payment plan after the fact, or if there is some place you can see exactly all the mats needed for the craft so one can start gathering thing for it.

Another question though would be, when crafting do they end up as white/green/blue/purple/yellow grade?

Was thinking of the Beginner gears listed on the following link (because there is no way I'm getting the Best in Slot, the way I play the game).
https://alcasthq.com/eso-magicka-sorcerer-pet-build-pve-homestead/

Code:
Chest Twice Born Star Heavy Divine Magicka
Belt Twice Born Star Medium Divine Magicka
Shoes Twice Born Star Light Divine Magicka
Pants Twice Born Star Light Divine Magicka
Hands Twice Born Star Light Divine Magicka
Head Julianos Light Divine Magicka
Shoulder Julianos Light Divine Magicka

Weapon 1 Julianos Shock Sharpened Spell Dmg
Weapon 2 Julianos Fire Sharpened Fire Dmg

Will have to track down the jewelry at a later time since they are not craftable.
Code:
Necklace Willpower Jewelry Arcane Spell Dmg
Ring Willpower Jewelry Arcane/Healthy Spell Dmg
Ring Willpower Jewelry Arcane/Healthy Spell Dmg

Can't help with actually making it. Not on PS4.

Everything crafted is initially of Normal quality. You then use tempers to upgrade it to Fine, Superior, Epic and Legendary.

Willpower jewelry is fairly easy to acquire, and even if you don't want to mess with Imperial City, you can grind gold and just buy them from guild traders.

I run Necropotence on my sorc. It's an overland set (Rivenspire), so you can farm it pretty easy or farm gold and buy it from traders. It's worth the effort for pet sorc.

If you want to gather the materials (makes it easier to find the nine-trait crafter you need for TBS) you'll need 150 materials per cp160 item, so 750 ancestor silk for the light items.

You're also going to need the tempers, which can get expensive if you go all the way to Legendary (gold).

Base PS4 for me. It ran smooth as fuck prior to Morrowind. As soon as that expansion was patched in the game is constantly hitching for me when travelling the open world portion of the game. Super frustrating and distracting.

And yeah, I can forget even this.... wouldn't even be able to upgrade it to green lol, I do not play this game (nor any other MMO) as it is needed to be played.
