Are you being disingenuous?

A value is an idea, a concept which you deem so important you're willing to sacrifice your own immediate interests for the sake of it. For example, if you truly value honesty, you will return that wallet, even though those 20 bucks sure would come in handy. Generally speaking, values are only meaningful, only express themselves when they sort out conflicting decisions.

When you elect Diversity as a prime value in your hiring practices, you are choosing to sacrifice your own interests - hire the best possible people - because you deem diversity so noble and high-minded.

If you set minority quotas, that means you will still recruit minority candidates even if the best one available doesn't belong to any of the favoured demographics. You are rewarding skin colour or genitalia or sexual orientation and depreciating skill and commitment.

If the best candidates are all female, by all means have an all-female team. If the best candidate happens to be queer, don't hesitate. Hire them. But if your staff's mostly comprised of WASPs and the top applicant's also white, protestant and male, welcome him to the team on the spot.

it's wonderful that, in the long run at least, capitalism tends to caramelize companies which behave irrationally, against their best interests and, ultimately, against the best interests of the consumer.

People with talent and a spine have little enthusiasm for Diversity hirings.
They're rightly confident their talent will pull them though and they wouldn't want it any other way.
Yep clearly the game is bad because MS hired too many women, gay people and ethnic minorities. Sheesh.

There's zero evidence that their diversity agenda (which may just be all PR as far as we know) has caused the game to look terrible.

I do understand your point, honestly I do. But isn't the idea to hire the best candidate and not just the best white candidate? Maybe MS have been doing the latter and have passed up on some very talented people?

It's all just conjecture, yet yours is potentially damaging and insulting.
