Interesting prediction (timestamped). Jor thinks Godfall could release as a free Playstation Plus game

His prediction could be right or wrong.

But his analysis/prediction is based on the commentry that was made in their latest video. Which he takes an excerpt out of context, the wrong way. The following is the statement made by the developers in the video
"We have a few more suprises coming down the road, such as details on loot, and progression and are eager to share more with you on our way to launch this holiday season"

if taken in context, they are just saying they are eager to share more information in the coming days before launch.

Do you remember ps3, because i will tell a little story ...

Once upon a time, a technology company that had so much money that it didn’t quite know where to spend so much money (spoiler isn’t Microsoft), that as it manufactured its own components, (memory, GPU and CPU) it was forced to give a big step, well she joined Toshiba and IBM to build the Holy Grail of the Cell chips, imagine in 2004 a CPU chip fast enough to render graphics!

Cell is practically the father of the APU's concept (CPU and GPU joints) ...
There was only one small problem, Cell as a CPU was a monster but as a GPU it was a small kitten ... ~ 150 Gflops.
So at the last minute and yes it was in 2004 they called NVidia and:

Sony: we need a GPU.
NVidia: yes we have one here of 250Gflops.
Sony: what's the value?
NVidia: $ 200
Sony: this is very expensive!
NVidia: good luck then ...

And that was how a $ 600 console was born and all the problems that happened after ...
Sony was held hostage by NVidia, and believe me that earned them good, good money ...
Thereafter, no brand chose NVidia simply because they charge too much

Now it's not to say that Nintendo's Swich is NVidia ... and I forgot:

Nintendo: we need an APU.
NVidia: we have a perfect one here, we spent a few million dollars in research, but the cellphone manufacturers simply preferred to use Snapdragon ...
Nintendo: ok how much does it cost? NVidia: $ 150
Nintendo: paid 80
Nvidia: done!
Thanks for that. Was Ken's original plan to have 2 CELL processors, do you know why they canned the idea, was it cost?

Ps3 was expansive mainly because of blu-ray

Exactly, Nintendo wanted a cheap ass processor and Nvidia had those Tegras no one wanted, it was a win-win for both.

P.S.: actually, Nintendo got a bit hurt by pirates thanks to that Tegra exploit.

I've been thinking. Do you think Sony will open up software pre-orders for digital games via the PS4 store?

I would think yes, but then you won't be able to pre-load.

They never said checkboard 4k at 60fps they straight up said 4k60fps
Ehh not really. They said it’s 4K/60 not 4K@60. So it’s vague on purpose. Also, technically, checkerboarding to 4K or using temporal injection still is 4K resolution. Most people can’t tell the difference. Even if they just render at 1920x2160 and then checkerboard just the vertical pixels, it’d still look great.

The point I was saying is expect 2 modes - 1 for frame rate, 1 for resolution. The resolution fidelity mode will most like be native 4K, while the 60 Hz performance mode will likely lower the resolution or use checkboarding. It won’t matter for 90% of people, it will still look beautiful.

It will be 4k 60 no RT 4k 30 with RT and maybe some more graphical improvements over the 60 version. This makes the most sense imo.
Every PS4 Pro game that offers 2 modes for 30 or 60 Hz lowers the resolution when selecting 60 Hz. Typically on PS4 Pro the options are 1080p60 or 4K30, or 1800p30 etc.

Demon’s Souls is expected to offer 2160p30 or 1440p60 by Digital Foundry’s reported pixel counting of footage so far.

Many would still want RT and 60 Hz, so why not let them have both if all it takes is a lower resolution?

Let's spice it up in here with some fresh speculation, extrapolated from the annals of Reddit.

Seems some folks(I guess, haven't followed) have deduced the ARG teasers for the next Call of Duty would have a final installment(or whatever) on the 19th of August.

Sony coming in hot with a Call of Duty bomb subsequently on August 20th? I recall rumors saying they'd have a State of Play around the 20th.

If any truth exists, Sony would confirm the SoP tomorrow, I guess?

The thing is Call of Duty is big enough to have a completely day only for them, of course after the announcement
we can see more of the game in a possible Playstation event.

Yes, it is. But theyve been cross marketing with PlayStation for a while now.

Path tracing is much more impressive and is the future. That unreal demo will run better on the xsx. And it was 1440p at 30fps. Its already been confirmed hellblade is using it......

The demo or the engine? Given the SSD playing a decent role in the demo i wouldnt be so sure the demo, or at least the last portion, would run too well on the XSX. UE5...certain aspects may run better.

Yea feel like 750 million is not enough. GTA6 will sale billions of dollars worth in its opening week as a multiplat.

IF that $750 tag has merit, it was for a major series, but the smart money would be on Square for Final Fantasy or Activision-Blizzard for Call of Duty, Overwatch, Diablo or whatever.

Rockstar wouldn't bequeath rights to their baby for anything less than billions and probably not even then, considering what they'd stand to make multi-platform.

Unless its just to keep it off Xbox. Might be cheaper for the to make the deal if they don't think Xbox is going to perform well. Just a guess.
Hmm maybe but the Xbox brand is still very strong in NA. Both the Xbox one and PS4 are above 30 million in that region and are only separated by few million as well. That would be a ton of potential money being left out there that i doubt RockStar will want to ignore for “just” 750 million.

But as they say.

NA=/= The world.

Plus it's not like Xbox will reach over 30 million within a year.

Edit: Oops I made a mistake here.

I meant to say if GTA6 comes out early in the generation it's unlikely that Xbox will reach 30 million sold by that time. So a timed exclusivity deal might not be that expensive for Sony to make.
