Im kinda worried about that too.
Did anyone else see that the Xbox One can't even run Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1/2 remake at a consistent 1080p? Had to use dynamic res w/ average of 900p. For a PS1 game remaster.

No wonder Halo looked rough, the developers are fucked for having to make games run on that system.

I heard that the Pro could only run this PS1 game at 1400, 1x can do 1800.

Typical for Xbone to be at 900p dynamic when PS4 is at 1080p.

Actually, he is quite right on the PS5

Why you people always ignore what the lead architect explained about boost clocks? How YOU THINK it works, it's not HOW IT WORKS. What Tidux wrote e completely right.
It's not completely right. That system does not "remove bottlenecks". And by having a stronger cpu and gpu at all times there won't ever be a situation where they perform worse than the ps5 counterparts, so that bit about a bottleneck happening on SX but not on ps5 is also wrong even using bottleneck as loosely as he is.

Sony’s approach will be standard in the future. Why is it important? Because it allows for more performance out of a fixed power budget.

At the power budget without the ability to pivot that power as needed between components, the whole thing would essentially be clocked lower.

So why not increase the power budget to raise fixed clocks? Because why fix the clocks if the strategy would still benefit whatever the power budget baseline is.

It’s smart, it’s the future.

I'll agree here. This becomes a console warz issue because some act as if the fixed clock model is somehow broken or unusable, which is odd because this is how consoles have been for generations. Both methods are functional, but I do expect that power profiling will exist on consoles announced from this point out.

Are we getting to fucking Labor Day without price/date/preorder details? Seriously what is going on?

There are many bottlenecks in a system, whether they are in the GPU, SSD (if using it to stream in high quality textures), memory, CPU, etc etc. Everything I've read and from what Cerny said tells me bottlenecks are something more likely to be found on Series X, which is my opinion.

Fully saturating 52 CUs for this theoretical 12 tflops of computing perf is also going to be harder than doing it for 36 CUs (operating at higher frequency).

Multiple posts seemingly, plenty of warnings. He was a cheeky bugger but he wasn't malicious.
Although I can't really pass comment as I don't know the scope of the warnings so...

Bit of a shit talker, but I feel like some people are a little too sensitive, they must read the forum with the pointer hovering over the report button at all times. 🤷‍♂️

I have been anticipating The Full PS5 reveal (Price, UI, Features, general new stuff) for so long that when it finally comes I feel like there will be a big let down afterward, like something is missing. I almost don’t want the anticipation to end. I think I have some form of stockholm syndrome or masochistic tendency. Well here’s hoping they don’t say anything to the Tokyo Game Show (Sept,23-27).

China is a threat to AAA western developers. It is fucking cheap.
Sony should invest there and make 10 AAA games for the cost of TLOU.

I hope so. Chinese developers could be an alternative to complement japanese devs. I mean on Playstation, of course.

Sony started the China Hero Project in 2017 and bit by bit the games are coming. Although I really want Lost Soul Aside and I hope PS5 version is already an option.

They started and hopefully they are seriously progressing. They already missed this game :messenger_tears_of_joy:. It seems better than Lost Soul Aside.
Japanese developers started to recover this gen after like 12 disastrous years. Hope to see more of them coming back.

Guys my insider in Playstation Denmark told me something is coming tonight......

Rain and possibly thunder
:pie_hugging
Finally! after a massive heatwave for 2 weeks ;-)
Can confirm from here. It was hot as fuck and now a few drops of rain, I'm eating pølse for the happiness.

Man I don't know what Sony is waiting for.... Just announce the damn price and if Microsoft undercuts it you just come out and say oh sorry guys we got it wrong and match the Xbox price :messenger_kissing_smiling:
That's not a good look.
AMD can do that as the super underdog. Sony probably can't. Not without being embarrassed.

"both are functional" since the video games exist, the fps were dynamic, you can see an Uncharted cut at 30 fps but the game is always between 35 and 45fps, someone had a brilliant idea because it doesn't have a resolution that fits the fps? and this is the point at which we found ourselves some games were really only possible because the game scales the resolution to maintain the fps (Halo) .. this is much better than we had ... and it is about to get better!

Sony didn't invent the wheel, AMD is doing the smartshift, now you can scale resolution, fps and power at any time! it is a smarter design.
2 or 3 years from now it will only be possible thanks to Smartshift it is only a matter of time ...

It does. Just chucking out a 13 minute gameplay video? What were they thinking, they are doing it all wrong! Announce a date for a teaser of an announcement of a pre-rendered CGI target! That's how the big boys do it. ;)
They should have showed an interview with a Russian politician instead of gameplay. Who wants to see gameplay.

Ya know, isn't evolution great? We started out as one celled living things in some primordial goop. Then we managed to get out of it and walk around the earth like civilised beings!

Of course there are a few that are a bit behind who are still swimming in that goop, right sircaw sircaw ?

Listen here Jabba.

you are looking at this all wrong.

First, we came from the sea, then we evolved eventually into humans, but I am one step ahead of ewe, or tail depending on your viewpoint.

While you remained on the land, I returned to the sea, I am preparing for my second evolutional advancement.

In essence, you are living in the past.

Now I do believe you will return to the sea at one point but not for an evolutionary advancement stage, its more to do with, needing the water to support that fat arse buffalo hide of yours.

Sony is the market leader and even if more expensive will win the upcoming generation by a mile. They need to set the price as the dominant player in the market. This is only about stroking ego's at Sony headquarters.

Sorry, surely the fault is mine and I am not understanding you properly, but if I have understood you correctly, I, being a specialist in lighting optimization and GPU rendering in both BR and IPR and also RT, I cannot agree with you. Based on my experience, Cerny's graph is much closer to reality than your approach. But as I have already said, it is surely my fault and I have misunderstood you. In that case, I apologize for any inconvenience my comment may have caused you.

Parallel to this, I would like to add that Ambient Occlusion is no longer necessary at the precise moment that the hardware allows real-time GI. Since the AO is designed precisely to help simulate a false GI. Once the GI can be calculated, the AO can be dispensed with. It could be used as a support for low levels of GI imprecision but if you can save that pass much better.

My professional "vocabulary" may differ from Google Translate. So I don't know if the denominations of are translating correctly.

PS.- I don't know what happened to the aforementioned message. I hope it's not because GAF doesn't understand what you mean either (just kidding, don't mind).
