Star Citizen, haven't heard about it in a minute......The problem with games like SC and Cyberpunk is that the developers hype the mechanics so much, even the visuals, then you get awful performance, and people say it's ahead of it's time, but people are only going to put up with a game pushing technical boundaries if the main game is excellent or novel.......We all loved SOTC because it did gameplay and graphics and animation we never saw before, it was not a bugfest, we all played Crysis on our GTX 6800's and the perf was low, but boy were the physics and powers awesome......Yet there were games which were genre defining and great technically with great performance like Doom 2003 and Doom 2016 and of course Halflife 2......Let's not pretend for a moment that your game needs to be a buggy broken disjointed offering to be pushing boundaries.......luckily star citizen is trying to do most of those things so we have a masterpiece in the works
but i can't wait to see 5/10 starfield and 4/10 horizon forbidden west next year.
A well polished game is important, the industry needs to move away from broken launch games, where people like to say "it will be patched".....If you pay $60, you deserve a competent product and there's no questions about it.....Having a product crash a million fold, textures not drawing in, fps down to 4fps on console, 1 minute long hangs, hitching galore does not deserve any type of defense attorney on forums in lieu of CD PROJECT RED.....
I think this is indeed subjective.....Is Cyberpunk categorically a better game than AC Valhalla or Origins? Ubisoft may have had some buggy games in the past, but they have had some really nice games that work and play well with great graphics too.......And they always try to push some level of NPC count, world setting or something a bit different each time......In 2013, Black Flag was a very polished product, their formula works even if you feel it's samey at this point. People rail on them, but Unity was their buggiest and lowest performing games for reasons, but no one can deny Unity was an awesome looking game at the time.....It's art and some of it's technical prowess even cyberpunk can't match.....Cyberpunk 2077 has a lot of flaws I won't deny that. But seeing Cyberpunk 2077 with a lower score on open critic than a boring ass game like AC: Valhalla, which is basically just AC:Origins reskinned for the 3rd time, is the worst joke I've seen in a long fucking time.
I think Unity was a bigger showcase for PC at the time than Cyberpunk is now and that's if we include interactivity, scale+verticality, npc's, lighting, art etc...
