[LinkedIn speculation] Halo Infinite drops last gen versions. PC, SX, and SS only.

Cyberpunk sold 13 million copies thanks to those damn old gen bastards. How many copies do you think it would have sold without those? 2 millions? Maybe 3?

How many copies will HI sell being only on next gen? 1 million? If this is true they are setting up for a financial disaster.
However they lost their reputation and good will among the gaming community and even gaming media.
Personally, i dont think that those few gains are worth trade for them.

I put on my Linked In profile the brands I've worked on at companies I've been at.

I only put a handful of key ones. I don't list all 20 or 40 of them.

I wouldn't put too much into Joe Miller. Read his Tweets. Total Sony fanboy to the extreme.

I'm sorry at this point and time after the disaster of Cyberpunk 2077 I think in my opinion, it's time for games such as Halo: Infinite to run only on PC and Xbox Series X/S only.

Didn't get the memo regarding the 14th Amendment
If the Series S didn’t exist, then this may be a bad idea. With the Series S though... it’s not like the barrier to entry for next gen is too high, so it could be feasible that they drop last gen. I think due to this game being more of a decade long platform, this would almost need to happen.

But this isn’t proof. We’ll just have to wait for Microsoft to say anything on the matter. I think they would have announced this with the previous update where they announced the Fall 2021 expectation if they were going to cancel the last gen versions.

I thought they dropped last gen versions?

Hawt comment by a no doubt big dicked Chad.

Seriously though, I dunno why people still think this. How many of the next gen titles have proven to be held back by the Series S so far? The dev kit issue is likely to blame in most cases for whatever deficit the Serieis X has vs. PS5, and even then, it's not that bad.

It's a scaled back GPU for a scaled back display technology but retains all the features of the current generation of tech. That would be like saying the inevitable AMD lower end cards are holding back PC gamers that have a 6900xt. It's ridiculous. The CPU and the SSD are the same, essentially. Open world games are not going to suffer because of the GPU. They'll just look a little ass.

This sounds like baseless FUD, however you see it.

It's 1 member of hundreds of people at 343i, and we haven't even started talking about the outsourced teams (who most probably will be handling the Xbone versions).

Let's wait for the official word, gents.

Microsoft are a trillion dollar company, yes. But they're not stupid enough to spend 500MN+ on their flagship IP and not expect the maximum ROI.

Again, this does have a slight chance of happening, but let's hear it from them.

Also, do note that Infinite's MP is F2P, so you're only paying (or subbing to gamepass) for the campaign + firefight (and forge if it isn't included in the free version of the MP).

It still possible Microsoft gave the old gen port to other developers to focus on XSX/XSS, as they did with Forza Horizon 2 for X360.

What benefit will cancelling a previous gen version bring?

A game developed for 5 yrs for a hardware will always be tailored to abilities of that hardware.

Next gen version will be a bit nicer/smoother. That's about it. Regardless of existence of One version.

Its stupid how this linked in profile was used as proof to start dumb rumor. Gaming forums and media are becoming a bullshit echo chamber

13 million sales say otherwise

as an Xbox fan i say it's a bad move, sales are sales, 60 odd millions ones out there, just bum p up the series versions and drop everything back for Xbox one, like a pc game.
That's a great point. I was thinking purely along performance and fidelity considerations

Sony or ms are not likely going to ever build games on the same scale as cyberpunk. They also have less platforms to worry about

man i hope so, the series s its already gonna be the least common denominator here catering to those specs, so the game is already being held back...no need for that shit to launch on last gen crap.

Great move if so, obviously sony trolls will use the "NO GAMER LEFT BEHIND" but you also complained about the gameplay demo looking like a potato, this is the best thing they could of done for the project.

How can someone conclude this based on this piece of information is beyond me.

I see no reason for them to cancel the Xbox One version, even though a lot of people who have nothing to do with Xbox for the most part, seem to be wishing this. You don't let down people who bought One X like this either. They deserve at least Halo Infinite.

Microsoft aren't CDPR. They will ship a game that runs well on Xbox One. Already did numerous time. Xbox One is not an afterthought for them. It is a 50 millions install base.

It'd only make sense. The hardware is old and worthless now if they want the open world aspect they're really aiming for they only would be able to achieve it on new stuff.

Debunked

Well.....according to the Halo CM anyway. He was asked if X1 version was shuttered and he said "Nope". The tweet asking the question was deleted.
