That was due to some games using what was called asynchronous loading to stream data from the CD or DVD back then. There's no reason to do an integrity check in BC loading with games on the HDD.
well then it doesn't really make much sense does it? PS4 games on PS5 are clearly throttled in terms of loading speed. we see sometimes massive disparities between Series X and PS5 even tho the PS5 has a way faster SSD. we even see games loading faster on PS4 Pro when using a decent SSD with it... which is even more odd
the question is why Sony thought they need to do this or if they even did it on purpose or if it is just some oversight? maybe some games ran into issues? it's hard to tell as an outsider why
