Ok it's cool for 60fps but why this PS4 game still run on 1440p on PS5 ?

GOT, HZD run at 1800p on PS5
GOW 2160p

But TLOU2 only 1440p : /

Because the ps4 pro version ran at 1440p. The ps4 pro versions for those other games you mentioned are the same as they are on ps5

I didn’t like most of the game, but loved certain sections. Want to replay those. Can the game still be on PS4 via usb hub, and the patch applied to ps5, or does it require a full install on ps5 ssd?

doesn't the original post say enhanced resolution? Did they really not bump the resolution? Even if you target 30fps?

The PS ad claims there's enhanced resolution, but DF is saying it remains the same at 1440p. Maybe it's a multi-stage patch.

Still looks amazing. Gonna go back to it tonight.

Game is taking too long to download! Too many people are all over it as it seems, initial download 4 hours and full being 14 hours! It should download the whole thing in around 50min for 200Mbps download speed.

Just to say, but a game developed on ps4 originally can't become natively for ps5 just thanks to a patch. Yes you can improve it BUT if a game is coded to push the ps4 hardware I don't know how you can fix such code to run as it was natively intended for ps5. The original code is built just with ps4 in mind. I don't know if it's clear what I'm trying to say.

Yes but it's not what I meant. I think you have sort of limitations especially if BC is involved.

I still think a full PS5 remaster is coming and this patch is just to hold us over until then. Plus, not everyone will want to pay for a full remaster just to get 60fps, so this is a nice gesture of them to give people a free little upgrade if they bought the PS4 version.

Could that be the issue? Your latency to U.S servers is going to be far worse than if you installed from servers in your region.

I know whenever I play BF with Europeans or whenever i got stuck with people on Japanese servers, my ping was like 250 ms compared to the 30-40 i get in my region. The download speeds should also be affected by it I would think.

Recommended watching if you're into that kind of thing, but as a TL;DR, it was in part an exercise to port their engine to PS4 (which was not trivial, as PS3 was/is so much of an odd beast) - and they ended up "cheating" a bit, on the remaster the rendering and game logic run in separate passes, so there's a single frame of added input lag. With 60fps this doesn't matter that much though. But here making a simple patch was much more feasible, so of course ND went for that instead.

You don't know what they had to do. Maybe there were parts of the game where the animations were tied to the frame rate and they had to figure out a way around those limitations.

dude. th4e last of us 2 is one of the few best games ever made. it is the best cinematic game ever made hands down.

Nah, if anything this PS4 patch proves that they didnt have to do any of that. They literally only had to add a toggle to the PS4 version.
